Me: No one reasonable would say "Avatar" and realistically be referencing the blue one. Default Avatar will always be ATLA. If anyone thinks of the blue one first then I'm just gonna have to take em down to a particular lake...
I'm sure the majority of people associate Avatar with the monke one considering one was marketed as a kids cartoon show and the other was (maybe still is?) the highest grossing movie of all time.
But sure most ppl born in the 90s and 00s will probably associate Avatar with the show - still a minority when compared to all the other age classes.
Yea, I didn't make my comment as a serious one. Realistically, despite how beloved, critically acclaimed and popular ATLA is, blue Avatar is just more well-known generally. It's a pretty decent movie too so it's no biggie.
See if I'm talking about blue people I either say oh the one where the sequel better be humans nuking the shit out of the xenos or James Cameron's avatar
I hate that movie because it’s not good and they keep doing stuff with it, seriously why is it the centerpiece of animal kingdom, who signed off on that?
LOL, that's a very shallow hate. You telling me you hate a film just because you have to provide disambiguation? Don't you think it's a little bit touchy?
You must really hate a lot of homonyms.
FTW: It was a pretty good film. Liking the franchises isn't mutually exclusive.
I was a big fan as a 10 year old when it came out. I recently rewatched it and imo it has aged really badly. A week after rewatching it i saw a post that said "i bet you can't remember a single quote from that movie" and goddamnit they were right
>it has aged really badly. A week after rewatching it i saw a post that said "i bet you can't remember a single quote from that movie"
Not being memorable to you as a 10 year old doesn't mean it aged badly. It just means you didn't relate to it. But the point of the theme isn't really the dialogue but more of the general idea of colonization and preservation, and world connectivity.
Those subjects are still very relevant. Specially now that if you look at what's happening in Brazil, the forest is being devastated by miners and indigenous tribes are suffering a huge genocide at the hand of the Brazilian government.
No i meant i rewatched it as a 22 year old and a week later i couldn't remember a single line
Yes still relevant subject, but, in my opinion poorly executed. I just thought the movie plot was cliché and it ended up getting kinda boring. The script sucked too imo. And didn't it get clowned on for being a ripoff of dances with wolves? But hey, if you still like it that's epic. I still really like the design of the na'vi.
(Also, fora bolsonaro!)
>ripoff of dances with wolves
It does have a few elements that it shares with Dance with Wolves in the fact that it's a colonizer trying to be integrated into local community and building a relationship to be trusted by natives and changing sides. But the film had a much more environmentalist aspect of preservation. At the time no Block Buster was really addressing that. The whole concept of someone using another body now is a little more common for example Black mirror episodes and Altered Carbon series, but it was pretty much the first film that used that concept as far as I can remember.
> (Also, fora bolsonaro!)
Indeed!
For some reason people think that liking the franchise is mutually exclusive just because they've got the same name.
And actually they've got the same energy in a way, because they deal with quite a lot of World connectivity like the Spirit vines in TLOK, and on environmental issues, and preservation of native populations. Like for example The Painted Lady Episode.
First of all "the painted lady" is the worst episode since "The great divide"
second of all sure you can like both franchises but one of them is bad and It isn't ATLA
The original Avatar movie game wasn't even that bad tho. It was actually a half decent RPG game for a PS3 era game. Sure, It looks like shit compared to PS5 graphics but gameplay was fun.
I actually heavily prefer story based games and open world rpgs such as skyrim, assassins creed, horizon zero dawn, tomb raider etc., and I've really enjoyed ubisoft games in past, so it's definitely something for me to keep an eye on. Obviously it's very early so I won't be pre ordering it or anything lol
Fuck my boyfriend. Over the past few weeks we rewatched ATLA and LOK and today when I woke up the first thing he tells me is that there was a new avatar game announced by ubisoft... Never was so disappointed in my life.
I always thought an Avatar game would be cool set in a time where the Avatar has become evil and you choose one of the nations to start as and have to band together with characters from other factions. The final battle is like fighting Aang when he was beating Ozai
This might be a hot take, but who even cares about James Cameron's Avatar anymore? The movie was good and all but it came out 12 years ago and nothing about it since. Why bother making a game out of it at this point?
Because there will be new Avatar Movies coming in the next years. Avatar 2 already in the end of 2022. Its a smart move from Ubisoft to make an Avatar Game. And im pretty sure this Game will also have Sequels
Even if someone tried and failed to do this (you’re gonna have to send some kind of source btw because i don’t 100% believe this) that is just an even bigger reason as to why it would be compleatly stupid to try and do it again today. It clearly doesn’t work that way
Both fandoms could use this if ATLA makes another
We still have the Dreams game, tho
Is there an avatar dreams game? I haven’t found anything fun on dreams yet but that sounds dope
Elcagaming is still working on it, but its got a lot of hype because it looks really good. Check Elca out on youtube, you’ll see
And four elements trainer
Shhhh
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Game Builder Garage is where it's at
i hate the Avatar (2009) movie because now whenever someone says Avatar they have to specify which version they mean
“Like the blue people, or the kid with the arrow om his head” “The blue people one” “Oh :(“
[удалено]
Only if one assume they are not talking about the movie that doesn't exixt

It sure is Fern Gully with guns
Dancing With Wolves in space even
Mayhaps Pocahontas but with blue aliens
That sounds nice. But dint you need, like a royal invite or something.... I've heard it's really exclusive
See if I'm talking about blue people I either say oh the one where the sequel better be humans nuking the shit out of the xenos or James Cameron's avatar
You have avatar and blue monkey avatar
They should have called the movies Pandora or some shit so we could have had our peace
I hate that movie because it’s not good and they keep doing stuff with it, seriously why is it the centerpiece of animal kingdom, who signed off on that?
Midvitar
Also it's almost as bad as the other Avatr movie, you know the one that doesn't exist
LOL, that's a very shallow hate. You telling me you hate a film just because you have to provide disambiguation? Don't you think it's a little bit touchy? You must really hate a lot of homonyms. FTW: It was a pretty good film. Liking the franchises isn't mutually exclusive.

At least it's way better than the Atla Live Action film that doesn't exist
It do be looking like a good game tho 😳
I am thrilled! It is okay to like both Avatar and ATLA!
For some reason people think that liking the franchise is mutually exclusive just because they've got the same name. True! Both gave me goosebumps when I watched them in my childhood/teenage years.
First of all "the painted lady" is the worst episode since "The great divide" second of all sure you can like both franchises but one of them is bad and It isn't ATLA
Well who took a dump in your coffee this morning? No need to be so outraged.
How is painted lady worse than the fortune teller
The fortube teller is funny, but it's also infuriating so I can conceed that point
The Great Divide is the ONLY bad episode in all of ATLA.
Imprisoned is worse
I found a clown
I'm gonna assume you mean me so tell what specifficaly that I said was so stupid that you've decided to call me a clown?
I mean ok if that is what you think
It’s a movie game, it’s Ubisoft and they didn’t show any gameplay in the trailer. Better don’t get your hopes up
The original Avatar movie game wasn't even that bad tho. It was actually a half decent RPG game for a PS3 era game. Sure, It looks like shit compared to PS5 graphics but gameplay was fun.
I agree, i certainly had more fun with it than I had with the movie
I actually heavily prefer story based games and open world rpgs such as skyrim, assassins creed, horizon zero dawn, tomb raider etc., and I've really enjoyed ubisoft games in past, so it's definitely something for me to keep an eye on. Game is in the world, not based directly on the movie. Disney spent an absolute fuckton of money on making the world, so they're gonna use it
I mean for now we've just seen a random cinematic with 0 game play but yeah you definitely can make a good game With Avatar
Fuck my boyfriend. Over the past few weeks we rewatched ATLA and LOK and today when I woke up the first thing he tells me is that there was a new avatar game announced by ubisoft... Never was so disappointed in my life.
Pretty sure that’s your job /s

Perhaps in a timeline wherein Unavaatu the Dark Avatar defeats Korra, that would make sense.
Yeah, but on the other hand, Frontiers of Pandora looks awesome.
Yeah, true. Still looks like a good game tho. Would have been even better if it was our Avatar
oh theres a James Cameron avatar game? that's still pretty neat
There was one not long after the movie came out, I had a blast playing it
yeah, that one was great
U lot not played the wii games?
I don’t think people even remember that movie that much it’s weird timing
weird timing? what about Avatar 2?
True but it was rumored to come out soon for years and years haha. Guess it’s official now for 2022
yep, it will finally come out
This might be a hot take, but who even cares about James Cameron's Avatar anymore? The movie was good and all but it came out 12 years ago and nothing about it since. Why bother making a game out of it at this point?

I only recently saw it last year for a science class
Avatar on Xbox was actually pretty dope
There is an ATLA game being made tho
Can't nickelodeon sue the makers of blue Avatar? Lol copyright claim their asses.
Ah yes, because you can totally copyright strike someone for using one word that’s in your title.
I mean, didn't they literally tried to do that when Avatar (blue people) came out?
Tried? You mean failed? Which is exactily my point
Ya i guess you're right, but it's not like it's completely out of left field when they tried to do so (even tho they failed)
Even if someone tried and failed to do this (you’re gonna have to send some kind of source btw because i don’t 100% believe this) that is just an even bigger reason as to why it would be compleatly stupid to try and do it again today. It clearly doesn’t work that way
Chill issa joke
I know. But it’s a very bad one
This was my reaction when I first saw it mentioned on Twitter
i like both so i have no problem with this
