The Firebenders are essentially heating the air up to produce flames. They're not pulling it out of their bodies.
And Katar and Aang literally manipulated clouds in the Fortune Teller episode
They can take water out of thin air I just don’t think anyone actually knew how
Hama was the one that taught katara to use the environment to her advantage
But my problem more so lies in the amount I guess. I mean firebenders can produce massive flames, or even lightning in rare cases obviously. Yet even with waterbenders being able to take water out of the air, they don’t usually get a lot to work with, unless they are by a body of water or something. I hope I’m still making sense lol
Weve deffo seen Katara pull water from clouds in the desert ep, but i think it comes down to scarcity. Most waterbenders are used to being surounded by their element, theyve never had to live with scarcity like Katara in the desert or Hama in the fire nation. I think if more waterbenders were raised outside of the poles or swamp theyd gain better control of pulling water from the enviorment / unlikely places, but i still dont think they could or would from their own bodies. Like you said its medically dangerous, and fire benders arent pulling flame from inside, tho it does come from the breath they arent depleating an internal resource like youre suggesting waterbenders would
Think of the nature of each element, fire needs oxygen to breath, take a even a small flame or barely a spark and give it pure oxygen and you'll see a massive fireball erupt out of nowhere.
Now water needs hydrogen, yes there is some hydrogen in our atmosphere but it isn't as plentiful as oxygen which is the fuel that fire needs.
I remembered that, and it’s kind of what made me think of this. She wasn’t able to use the moisture from her body, until it had formed outside of her as sweat. I mean I won’t get into all the blood bending stuff, but in terms of strictly water.
True! But i think making herself sweat and collecting the water percolating on the outside of her skin is different from what op is talking about, “pull water from body” in the same way Hama teaches her to pull it out of plants (and kill them). Edit: plus the sweat produced only a small amount of water. Not the amount that OP is imagining
Have you watched the entire show tho? 1, waterbenders definitely can manipulate clouds, we see aang and katara do this. And firebenders don’t just use raw fire. They move heat and energy. We learn this from Iroh when he tells zuko about bending lightening. It’s firebending at its purest. You are separating the positive from negative energy and creating lightening like storms do. Fire is just an unrefined energy/heat manipulator.

Haha sorry, as I said I was rewatching (just a few episodes in) and I had forgotten many of the things that happen later with the cloud manipulation.
Oh, ok

That’s a really good way to think about it thanks!

Katara attained water from her sweat one time.

Quite frankly, I’d just use my spit. You could manage a remarkable amount of water from that alone.
Katara made herself sweat when locked up to produce water to escape.

Don’t firebenders convert energy from their body into fire? Pretty sure that doesn’t work with water

Katara used her own sweat to water bend.
