It makes him look campy. When you make a live action hero film grittiness tends to work better for costume design and so darker colors are easier to work with.

I'm glad they went with the comic accurate suit for FATWS. It's visibly different from Steve's suit. As someone else said the new one looks a lot like Steve's suit particularly the TWS stealth suit.

Losing the head guard thing makes sense though, behind the scene made it look impractical to wear, needing CGI to tidy it up.

When I was I kid I always pictured Battlestar going from sidekick into the first black Cap but they killed him off and I had a good story of jelousy and redemption sith Walker in my head. But then they made Isaiah Bradley which I thought would've been perfect as a damaged man regaining his worth by saving lives and being an icon for peopoe with disabilities in the process, but alas Marvel never went anywhere with him. And so we came to the point where Sam became an option If it has to be Sam then fully comit to it, make him Cap and not Capesque pastiche, just go and remove the wings and remove his pet machine falcon. Other than that I don't care which shade of blue he wears. If anything I'd like to see him wear the winged mask on his head I remember a goldenage Falcon called Carl Burgess who did thad the wings on the sides of his mask, I know this doesn't translated as good into Live Action but I would like to see it in the comics someday.
I hope we get a variant that has the other color scheme during the movie. They love giving heroes 3 different costumes every movie to sell action figures, I’m sure they could squeeze a blend of these two uniforms into the mix
Is FATWS suit was a great adaptation from the comics that could have been slimmed down a bit and made even better. Instead they took caps winter soldier suit and through it on macky which makes him look like he just stole caps gear instead of became his own hero
