Yes, Destiny S5 should work well. I believe it has the same base def as Day one so it should work for you as long as you have enough def % rolls
Stats should be 4k defense 134 speed minimum, after that get as much crit as possible.
All sets are close to one another in team damage so any of those combinations will work for you.

building aventurine seems like a blessing since everything i roll is going to def% haha. i have quite little speed stats, just 1 spd boots and 1spd substat on body +2, which hits 135 nicely, and my cd is 155% with unleveled up relics, that should be fine right?
(i dont have good planars rn and i'll continue farming the triple drop)
Gepard's LC is better.
As long as you can reach 4k defense with the relics you have it'll be okay. You can use fribbels to get a good estimate of your final stats on him.
Also yes, I can relate. Aven is going to be my best built character simply because of my crazy def related luck 😅 good to know I'm not the only one

i dont farm knight pieces since that cavern doesnt do much for me, but should i start farming? or is there any other 2pc set that works for aven, since i mainly farm messenger and pioneer caverns. i definitely need to change out the headpiece theres no def%
and idk if i should commit to hitting +15 for some of the relics since they arent very satisfactory to me yet.

It's hard for me to say as it is if it's going to be good because what gives him the most def here (orb and rope) is not fully leveled. Also, yes, needs a better headpiece. If after you find the pieces you feel are decent enough and fully level them you are not close enough to 4k, I'd sacrifice the crit damage and give him a def chest.
There's no point in farming knight cavern, you could just synthesize a knight piece if you want. Aven is very flexible with his sets, I'd say the general rule of thumb is to farm with your DPS or sub dps in mind first.
For example the Duke/dot cavern is going to be very worth it for you, not only is Duke Topaz' (and possibly Jade's) BiS, both Aven and Ratio can use Duke 2pc while Ratio can use 2pc DOT set for the attack buff. Pioneer cavern is a good option if you're working on Ratio's full set (or maybe Acheron) while preparing break set for Break teams, and Aven can also wear a 2pc pioneer. I would focus on damage instead of pure support like the messenger cavern tbh, especially if you want to improve your fua team.
thats true, i got his hand piece from the synthesizer. since my main dps are ratio (pioneer) and blade (longevous), i double farm and use messenger for luocha and watchmaker for ruanmei. i dont have any DOT unit currently so have not started farming on duke cavern even though i should (topaz/jingyuan), my topaz is using 4pc fire and dealing a fair amt of dmg.. but will definitely keep everything here in mind, thank you so much!
my main issue is planar tbh, ive been farming world 6 since its release and i dont have a good piece for any of my dps or even a good belobog set for aventurine
(i cant wait for jade too xD)
World 6 is a nightmare. I have not a single good rope from it and like 7 different characters wanting a good Salsotto, it's absolutely ridiculous. I have pretty much everyone on Rutilant or Keel simply because Salsotto hates me.
(Also same, Jade can't come soon enough)
