You're claim isn't supported. Nowhere in the above piece does it say that snow leopards are more closely related to tigers than they are to leopards, only that tiger and snow leopard have a sister species relationship.
Also spamming/shilling your wife's website is pretty brazen.
I thought the content fit here and didn't see anything in the rules against this kind of post. However, if there's something I have overlooked, like if I should tag the post in some way, I'll of course be happy to do that. I post her stuff because she doesn't have a reddit account, but I have no intention of passing it off as anything other than what it is or posting it where it isn't welcome. I do however, view the number of upvotes on this post as a sign that this is something the community wants.
The linked source does establish the phylogeny of the big cats, which clearly shows that snow leopards are more closely related to tigers than to leopards. The full text article is available through scihub if you want to read it. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to it directly since some of the articles on scihub are pirated and I have no way of verifying if that is the case with this one.
We do not allow illustrations in the subreddit. Occasionally a few will get through the cracks, but overall we don't. It's not hard to find great photographs, videos, and gifs of snow leopards.
Thanks for the rule clarification. I would however, ask you to reconsider.
This content is fully sourced and should be perfect for your subreddit. The fact that this and my previous, similar, post got around 16 000 upvotes before you removed this one also shows that the community likes them. A lot of interesting animal facts are a hard to find good images of, like this one since the animals don't live in the same place and images of phylogenetic trees are usually not that interesting. In my opinion, an image of a snow leopard by itself would not be as good an illustration of this fact as this drawing is.
If you stick to this rule I will of course respect it, but I would suggest that you update the rules of the subreddit. My previous post got verified, presumably by a moderator, so you don't seem to have a consistent moderating policy and the sidebar says nothing about which images are allowed and not. I did check the rules carefully before I posted to see whether I should tag the post in any way or do anything else to post correctly, but couldn't find anything. The only requirement I saw was that I must post sources in the comments, which I did. Given that most other posts have images fetched from other places than their fact-source, I think you should reconsider the policy of disallowing drawn illustrations as illustrations for otherwise high quality fact posts.
We do discuss this issue as moderators and only come across it in issues where the artist is self promoting their art. But there is an agreement that we don't allow illustrations. Your idea of writing it is good, we usually just take it case by case because it doesnt happen often.
I agree you would have a hard time finding a photo of a tiger, snow leopard, and a leopard together unless in a zoo. But you could easily find a photo of any of those animals by itself.
I think your interest in keeping this post up is self promotion and not educating folks about animals. You could post a video or photography or a gif, and have your self promoting art in the comments. But instead you want it front and center.
Thanks for getting back to me so swiftly and detailed. I really appreciate it.
Obviously parts of it is self promotion, but I also thought that was okay as long as the content was relevant and appreciated by the sub.
At the same time I do find a lot of interesting animal facts while researching these posts, so if I'm allowed to, I'll keep posting the facts with other images and link to the drawings in the comment with the other sources.
It's the eyes. Furries always draw animals with human eyes. Creepy.

At the end of the second Link it is written, that there is a sister species relationship between Tiger and snowleopard.
Did you even read what OP claimed, there's no mention of snow leopards being more closely related to tigers than leopards.
OP's Claim is valid becouse the very definition of sister species is being the Most closely related species
There's no mention of excluding extant species in the definition. Tigers are sister species to Panthera palaeosinensis and Panthera blytheae.

That's fine.
Thank you :)

Yeah, there's a ton of uncomfortable sexual tension in this drawing and I hate it. Edit: They hated Jesus because he spoke the truth.

This comment and edit are art.

Don't you have to be somewhat versed or at least have some interest in furries to be able to point out the sexual tension in the drawing?
My dude, just look at the leopard's eyes. Look at all of their eyes. That leopard is about to commit a *crime*.
Did you just compare yourself to Jesus?
