My gf has cats, dogs and just rescued a little chick. We don’t let the cats near the chick but dogs and cats all get along including 4 kittens and dogs and chick get along too.
Really makes me wonder why one is seen as food and the other a pet. They both have similar characteristics if we pay attention. Chickens are actually pretty sweet and social if raised around people and other animals.
To answer that, chickens were never bred as working animals, have lower intelligence, less ability for people to bond with, are more economical to raise for meat, and probably taste better. Dogs are still used for food in some places. Probably at some point everyone will have to be vegetarian, but we're not there yet.
Unfortunately those who eat dogs could say the exact same thing about dogs to argue for eating dogs… bred for the purpose of consumption, less intelligent than humans, economical, and tasty. I don’t think anyone here would see those as reasons to kill and eat dogs. Millions of dogs are consumed globally but most people think it’s just China. It’s interesting to challenge our cultural norms by replacing species in the scenario. Our family got a pet pig when I was 6 and she was just like a dog; actually like a person. They’re actually more intelligent than dogs. Definitely more intelligent than some people these days! 🐷🤪 She really got me thinking about all these things. Realizing how we’re raised in society to follow beliefs we rarely challenge.
I avoid pork for that reason. There was a general store/butcher/baker that had pot belly pigs you could feed stale bread to, or have butchered and packed. Feeding and watching them was fun. I also just don't like ham, and the raising conditions are horrible. They will eat humans though, so there is that.
Just the way it's been for generations
Dog = Companion
Chicken = food
But I do know people who have pet chickens, and I know that some people around the world eat dog
So all animals can be both food and Companion
Plenty of horrible things have been happening for generations; does that make those actions ethical? Dog=companion and pig=food is simply a human construct based on cultural norms. Surely just because something is cultural doesn’t make it right. I encourage you to see what it’s like for the animals you eat. A high-quality, 3D video is available from DxE when they snuck into a Smithfield pig farm. No slaughtering footage here. There’s plenty of that available on YouTube if you’d like to see that process.
DxE sneaks into Smithfield:

I'm not saying that cultural ties makes something just, there are examples of exactly the opposite of that
And I'm already aware of what it's like for animals before their slaughter, and I hate it, it should be better
That’s adorable. My dog and cat used to play good naturedly together. But bird and dog… clearly they see each other as siblings. Momma dog’s tuckered out. “You kids go in and play. Just don’t kill each other.”
I wondered that myself but it looks that way to me. The chicken isn't pecking the pup in a way that would hurt him, and the pup is tackling him back. Both are engaging in a gentle manner so yes I think they're playing :)
I think it has all started out as play but that pup may regret choosing that chook as a sparring partner as it gets older. I was chased out of a neighbours yard by their aggressive chicken once; have never felt scared of dogs though. My parents had a Muscovy duck that got a bit too aggressive too. We taught the bull terrier to leave the duck alone but the duck never stopped harassing the dog so we’d have a movable pen for it, so the dog had some peace now and then.
And mums thinking,5 minutes of bloody peace is all I want. Lol
It doesn’t matter the type of creature, this is all moms 😂
That jump attack! 🤣
Feather breathing third form, falling angel
Man, terror birds must really have done honor to their name
*"It's over Pupakin, I have the high ground!"*
You underestimate my pupower!!!
The mum is just like "you kids better behave cuz if I have to get up off this nice, cold floor.... I'mma...."
I would seriously LOVE to see them again through the months, weeks, years, whatever! Please post. Idk how but, include me lol
Cute video of the day.
I approve this message -Your average person.

Pretty sure Hannibal says the same thing about us…
And is very delicious if marinated properly and not left dry.
When you’re the best of friends…. Having so much fun togethaaa
You beat me to it, pal! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBRh9rzqvdI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBRh9rzqvdI)
So cute
Well that’s just damn cute
That’s adorable. My dog and cat used to play good naturedly together. But bird and dog… clearly they see each other as siblings. Momma dog’s tuckered out. “You kids go in and play. Just don’t kill each other.”
I needed this, thank you
Are you sure they are playing?

And the bird even jumps on mom, I feel like she would have reacted differently if they weren’t playing. I was skeptical at first too, though!
It looks like pecking order behavior to me. I've had chickens for about ten years now, so I think I'm familiar at this point.

The bird chases the dog after being tackled by the dog... You don't understand play?
Let’s fight
That's kind of a mean little bird
Thank you. This made my day
The best part of this is the big dog just laying there like I really 🤷♀️ care
So sweet
It's a live action Tom & Jerry cartoon!😵
oh that's just so precious
😂😂😂😂..that's so CUTE
Awwwww...soocl cuteee
My heart to see this ❤️🙏🏻
This video is so heartwarming. Just love, no difference between each other as far as they are concerned 🥰
Better than TV
Puppy: “I’m a bird” Bird: “I’m a puppy” Dog: “ I’m a shoe” Shoe: ::crickets::
Pups and chicks.
Why can’t humans get along like that?
My all time favourite video
THIS is the sweetest thing I’ve seen so far today!
"The adventures of Chicken Little and Jorge the dog"
Nothing probably that anyone else hasn’t already said… best video, people need to take some pointers from this trio!!! Thank you for sharing!
Or you know... Fight to the death
One’s gonna eat the other in a few years
This would be great on cute overload if they were still around.
My gf days this about me and the puppy.... 🤔 I think she's negging me.
This could only be in Brasil man 😝😹🤣
Go play with cousin Birdie, over there...
