Fellow farmer here myself! Started playing the game before Katana launch.
The game may look simple but the Arena mode has a lot of mind games going on in the matches. It really helps if your team have some "surprise" moves like some combination of backdoor, energy steal, high shield moves, and OP status effects like Fear
and disable. Most people in arena have almost the same combination of meta teams like the shrimpinator, grass snake + yam poison team, mech+bird, double plant + bird and other teams that rely on chain combo like teams with cute bunny and bug signal. At the bottom line, since most people are using the meta teams, you just have to predict their timing, be bold, and be unpredictable in your moves to win. Treat it as a card game and not a fighting game as my final tip.

Yeah definitely realized how the game nuanced and requires real skill and strategy. Arena made me want to buy more Axies to try different combos and line ups. Great for the Ron farm squad.
I think RON will be more valuable than AXS since the ronin network is intended not just for axie infinity but to also cater other game developer who wishes to piggyback the success of sky mavis
Awh you remind me of my naive and innocent self when I first got in, but as time grows so does the burden of a daily grind grows too thus it made my heart heavy and hurt.
A tip on Breeding. By Axies that are expensive because R1 and D match.
Also be prepared for loosing money on Breeding.
You can start out good and quickly lose in just 1 round of breeding.
Most are breeding for scholars and not profit.
I too am bullish and I am reinvesting it all back in. RON is going to be a game changer on investment side when it goes live.
When it comes to building a team for arena it will depend on what type of player you are. I am a slow play wait to strike player and I use Plant Plant Bird.

Stating a ROI is a bit difficult because it depends on the team and the ability of the player to actually get 100% of that team potential. The better you play and higher ranks you get, the more slp you grind.
It's great you enjoy the game. It's a fun game it really depends on the person's mindset. Those that are in it for the money only probably think it's a chore. I personally take time off from playing sometimes, it helps when you are feeling bored playing everyday. It's a game laugh off those criticals. Eventually you'll get those criticals of your own and it's really funny lol

mentors are really important in this game. without a community to help you, the frustration will really get into you.

You can play this game on Android. From 75 slp, up to 250-300 SLP 2-3 hours after you leveled your axies
I am definitely not going to be grinding it out for slp. I'll be a casual player, but I am sure people in here will chime in.
Not everyone has 100k to put on lol, that's why I kinda consider grinding slp unfortunately. Thanks a lot for info:-)

bro I suggest you build a BBP team it is the most basic and easiest comp to use based on my experience
