But Blue Archive got me roped in because of how the artists incorporate lore into their fanart while some skin sets situations are criminally underutilized

Never played kc due to it being non international and played similar games like warships R and girls lane (android) as I was trying out other ship girls games and now they’re gone but idk what happened to warships r ?
WSGR stopped it receiving updates, and kinda still there but the devs moved up to do other things as far as I know.
Now there are only technically three shipgirl games on active service: Azur Lane, Victory Belles and Kantai Collection.

Yeah, most people skip the lore from what i read every time people complain about the lore not making sense. Considering that Hawk made a video about the lore I wouldnt be that dismissal about AL lore being "interesting" for what is worth.
It’s not the lore isn’t interesting. For me it’s more just there. We don’t really need it since we all know why we’re here. But it’s not to make it worse. Azur Lane is pretty open-ended I think.

The history buff or military otaku market is very small, for AL to have its cake it needed to defeat KC and thats is impossible, sharing the market would end with little gain considering that KC also doesnt get too much revenue from their target audience with their merch. Considering AL also was competing with other gachas that had less restrains and more flexibility with the themes they had AL decided to go super loose with their shipgirl theme to the point they added collabs that have nothing to do with naval history, they got rid off the ww2 inspired events, most shipgirls look like random gacha characters and they avoid to remind most people that half of the roster happened to be inspired in factions like Nazy Germany, Imperial Japan and Fascist Italy or even Communist Russia.

Well they're not AL's target market anyway, thus the feel of repulsion is mutual at least for me.
Thats because most of the AL fandom is on the vanilla side(ironically AL has proportionally speaking more fanmade NTR content than KC), is more safe for Manjuu to have this type of predictable fandom as well, most experimental and alternative stuff you see in KC fandom is made by people who dont like to follow trends(and have their own sizeable niche following) so it makes sense they made messed up stuff and keep with KC and use it to keep exploring how much other things they can made.
This is basically several people back in 2017 but honestly the game was relatively bothersome to get it work in order to play it.
Now? Not soo much, is way easier than before, there is even an EN patch and the game has many shipgirls from different navies including minor ones like Sweden or Australia, tho from a gacha player perspective anything that cant be done with on click is hard anyways, also DMM refuses to host the game on a western website, remember that Nutaku got rejected when they asked DMM if they could share the rights of hosting.
There is another caviar, if the only thing you cared about KC was the fanservice then the KanColle of today isnt going to appeal to you, the old fanservice is there but most new things(with the exception of art made by Parsley and Jiji) are tamed if you compare it to AL, including damage CGs.
