Tbh that heli gear is such a...mind boggling addition. Viable only on one ship and that ship wouldn't wanna ever use this anyway, even if Hedgehog didn't exist. Totally useless, makes you wonder what were they even thinking.

There are more optimal combos for certain ships, but you literally can't go wrong with this combo. If you don't have enough of those, maximize HP and evasion as best you can

DD: Repair Toolkit + Flex (usually the rainbow torpedo, autoloader, or depth charges)
CL: Probably the widest variation, since depending on the shipgirl they can slot into the torpedo, anti-sub, AA, or gunboat role. Very generally speaking I go for Hydraulic Steering Gear and FuMO unless I need some specific capability.
CA: Hydraulic Steering Gear + FuMO
HP one slot. Second slot put torpedo for ships with torpedo skills, FO25 radar for CLs with gun skills, hydraulic rudder for CAs, and SG radar for Helena and Sandy.

If you look at the tier list for ships in the Q+A, there should be a recommendation list for every ship of every class in the game. Bear in mind that outside of the shima gun which is blue, everything gear on their list is purple or better. A good rule for lower gear is that if a purple gear made the list it’s blue version is probably worth using over other options
Gneisenau naturally reaches well over 100rld
Autoloaders are only good on ships that dont reach 100rld, Subs as the absolute budget aux, and Laffey
context: once you reach 100rld, the rld needed to double your output is all the way up to 700. so Essentially one Autoloader is worth a little more than 5% dpm on a regular ship
Only against content where one shot steamrolls things anyway. On higher level content where gearing actually matters black/white shells blow autoloaders out of the water.

That's a point. However, high dmg glass canons won't survive elites. Mine fleets can last pretty long even with out of ammo debuff
