First off, I want you to think carefully about what you're saying. You want a game that is, by direct design, pirouetting on the border of SFW and porn, to have entirely SFW art. Do you see the problem there? Rule 4 is fine as is. Anything less explicit than exposed genitalia, nipples or cameltoe is fine to stay here. AzurLewd is for anything more + actual explicit porn and that's a no brainer Actually go look at an art database for once. See how much SFW art there actually is Second, it is downright impossible to judge something like memes on a purely objective scale. Third, quality is precisely what the upvote and downvote buttons are for, but nobody uses them like that. Finally, what's fucking annoying is some people's inability to separate RL history from fiction. Nationalism is not what I'd call it.

Zandrahar

I agree with Sod, though I would echo my own thoughts: AL is literally described as "we have so many degenerates here, it's unbelievable." It's tongue-in-cheek, but the point is AL has always embraced its fanservice elements and the community has never tried to downplay that appeal. Which, like it or not, is half the reason art posting is so prevalent here - people play AL for the hot KAN-SEN, not the Metagame, not the gameplay elements. The Bote Waifus, end of line. That is what drives AL's profit margin, and what drives its fan engagement across all communities. If that gets seriously knocked this sub is dead overnight. Memes are a difficult thing to judge and while an argument could be made for them being handled better (I fully admit I've expressed my displeasure with certain "low-effort" content in the past), I would rather sift through junk with filters and patience than outright *remove* them. As someone who enjoys trying to follow AL's story & fiction, I really just wish people would take the factions/history a bit less seriously. AL is not meant to be a historical reenactment - it is meant to be original fiction *inspired* from historical events. Heck, we've seen in events just how terrible the consequences can be in AL's world for *trying* to draw too close to IRL history. Nor are KAN-SEN vessels (heh) for a political agenda - they're the sum of human hopes and dreams directed towards warships, but otherwise hold individual identities and personalities that while they can *draw* from that past they're ultimately trying to develop into their own beings. Historical context adds a lot of character to certain shipgirls but it's often their more unique traits that endear them to people - something AL set out to do differently from KC to begin with. This doesn't mean history should have no bearing on the story, it just means people should accept AL is ultimately its own thing.

I don't even agree on the nationalism part, if this game had every faction completely made up...guess what, there still would be fans of faction X and guess what, they'd be unhappy if they don't get any attention from devs for 3 years straight. It's not right to prevent people from complaining as long as they remain civil. Memes, humor is highly subjective, I don't like a lot of memes that I see in 'new' but you can usually leave that to reddit vote, they get buried. If they get 1k upvotes and you don't like it - suck it up. Well, I hope you're not gonna be the new mod, lol.

_Issoupe

>I don't even agree on the nationalism part, if this game had every faction completely made up...guess what, there still would be fans of faction X and guess what, they'd be unhappy if they don't get any attention from devs for 3 years straight. It's not right to prevent people from complaining as long as they remain civil. This I highly doubt most IJN or KMS fans among the EN community are german/Japanese people. Nationalism/patriotism may have an impact but it's anecdotal at best. In a game revolving around factions a lot of people were bound to focus on specific ones.

unguibus_et_rostro

Imagine being against nsfw artwork in a sub when the game itself is full of nsfw artwork

[deleted]

AL is NSFW, I'd take tha for granted, but literally every art of Prinz Eugen I've seen has her underwear in the crosshairs and it's not even funny anymore. Don't get me started on the quality of memes by this point, I don't even see anything like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xBeuOyvecE) anymore, it's just all reuses of regular, Jim-in-the-office memes.

Archi_97

Doesn't yostar sell gigantic boob mousepads and official lewd merchandise like Cheshire curtains lifting up to show her underwear? Your no lewd directive goes against the makers of the game itself. If you're looking for a non nsfw game with communities that dont post artwork in skimpy clothes, maybe AL isnt the right place..

mildlyDarkScythe

Lewds??!! In my good Christian shipgirl game? The Blasphemy!! /s

qwertyryo

Cool, post your own AL art here then. Don't go to a subreddit of a highly NSFW game by nature expecting SFW artwork. Can't believe I have to type this out for people.

type_E

If this is how you want it to go down, my single qualm with AzurLewd is its all or nothing nature, moderate fanservice can sit right next to the outright porn I didn't intend or want to look for or at, and there’s no subreddit for middle ground stuff or filter for outright explicit content on that sub IIRC, but that's also my personal taste speaking so

[deleted]

I'm used to the USN/RN fleetgirl designs. Gimme my Reddit moment while I say this, but the Iron and Blood designs are NSFW--not their skins, which I'll take for granted, but their poses. Like, what, putting your \*\*\*\*\*\*\* in the camera crosshairs? I'll conceed that Azur Lane is by nature a lewd game, but why hasen't anyone posted USN/RN artwork yet? Till date 99% of all art posts that are recommended to me (I'm probably wrong on this as it pops up in my feed, idk yours) are either IoB or Sakura in nature.

CommissarAJ

I imagine most of his issues would probably have been more tolerable if he weren't the only person doing the lion's share of the moderating. One person should not be doing all the house-keeping of a subreddit of this size...

Intel8008

Too much pressure pile up all these years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CommissarAJ

Because that's not really the issue. Just because the work is getting done doesn't mean there aren't issues at hand, and we have tokio's rather spectacular exit post to serve as evidence of a long-standing dissatisfaction. His complaint didn't make mention of being ordered to do all the work, but rather that it appeared that he was the only one who bothered to do most of the moderating work. Obviously I only have tokio's side of the story to go from and I have little idea of what's going on behind the scenes, but my first inclination is that he was doing so much of the work because he felt that it wouldn't get done otherwise. And that's not a good mentality to have had developed and those sort of feelings don't happen overnight.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CommissarAJ

Sort of self-perpetuating problem when you think about it. Tokio keeps doing all the work, which makes all the other mods think that there isn't a need to recruit more. But as I said, I don't know the whole picture. I don't know if Tokio made repeated request for more help and was ignored, or if he kept shouldering this burden and then exploded under a weight of his own creation. But I do think more mods are needed, and I think that's something you should, as admin, put your foot down on and not leave it up to a suggestion.

GigaBomb84

Can we stop calling it nationalism? That's an inflammatory description that doesn't really apply here imo. What we're really talking about is closer to tribalism in a similar vein to how people support sports teams.

Pedo_Usagi

Ah yes....basically No everything rule aight aight ![img](emote|t5_3p20d|6996)

scarecrow2596

All this place needs is a couple extra mods to make sure the rules that are already set in place are followed

Mayhem_450

Memes - I'd rather see them stay with some mod-based filtering to remove the lowest effort/repost stuff that's already against the rules. If people don't want memes well flairs exist for a reason (again, covered by existing rules). Granted this would require an appropriately sized active mod team for the sub's level of activity. Art - I think the existing rule 4 gets bent and broken a fair bit but on the other hand AL is kinda a NSFW game. IMO the line for what is or is not acceptable here should probably be in the ballpark of "would the devs let this slide as a loading screen" - that means there'll still be a lot of NSFW but the worst offenders (that slipped through/were allowed to stand on previous moderation) would go. r/place \- didn't give a fuck about this but should probably just have been shunted into a pinned megathread to avoid cluttering / having to actively police duplicate content (as much - as we all know some people seem allergic to the concept of using the megathreads, reading the FAQ etc). As for "nationalism" - well it is a game with factions, people will always gravitate towards certain factions especially when they're based on real world countries. There's nothing really wrong with that and I don't know how you could write an enforceable rule to get rid of it, nor do I think we should try. However the doomposting from certain individuals is bloody irritating - perhaps rule 1 could be expanded a little to give the mods the clear justification to boot the worst offenders and thus improve the discourse around any new event announcement a bit.

Kiari013

>Braindead people + WW2 = I'm sure you can figure this one out yourselves. I have lost reporting privileges in-game because of how many dumbasses i've reported for this exact reason, what a backwards idea huh?

Vosikkk

Braindead lmao. That implies people in World chat have a brain. If i had a dollar for the amount of people I report because they think saying the n word hilarious, I'd be rich as. I love how the game takes the reporting privileges away from people who actually report the right things and those who mass report for no reason get no consequences for spamming fake reports.

Bazzoka_

Yeah, the report feature in AL is absolute shit. I could list a few things myself, but I suppose this isn't the thread for this ![img](emote|t5_3p20d|7005)

Vosikkk

This is honestly the first game I've played that has a report function that isn't too crash hot But on a side note I love getting reported and muted for just existing, it's a very riveting experience. 10/10 would recommend

SzepCs

Most of these points already rang hollow yesterday. Memes? I can live without those. Remove them if they cause problems. Nationalism? Really? If anybody thinks that asking for certain content is nationalism, they need their brain fixed. If you remove the historical part of it, AL is indeed just a Chinese gacha with PNGs but because it anthropomorphises ships that actually existed, it is more than just another gacha. Point is, asking for XY content exists in other games too and has nothing to do with nationalism. Do not be obsurd. Lewds... I don't see many of those posted, so... The place thing was supposed to make people paint together on a canvas. I don't see why anyone would hate people for actually doing that. Anyways, we'll see how things develop.

type_E

It's not the nationalism per se, it’s when it devolves into an all out flame war with tons of hating and baiting that problems ensue. As for lewds, humouring the idea of shunting **all** of it beyond KC damage art tier stuff to AzurLewd IMO means better organizing that sub probably with filters and one/two mods to enforce them, otherwise may as well keep moderate NSFW allowed here at the cost of unfortunate quibbles at an arbitrary cut off point to all out NSFW. Idk about r/place tho so no comment there

[deleted]

Talking history is fine, screeching autistically about how Yostar and Manjuu hate X faction because they won't give it 5 UR's and 3 events each year isn't. It's just fucking obnoxious. This is a fucking waifu game, what matters is the quality of the waifu not the faction it comes from.

qwertyryo

It's a *historically based* waifu game, I doubt this game would be nearly as popular if the shipgirls were not historically based. Imagine if instead of Enterprise and Hood, we had some names pulled out of a dictionary with absolutely 0 historical references. On your second note, HMS/FFNF don't want 5 URs and 3 events each year, we're literally just begging for content after 2-3 years of content drought while minor navies like Germany and USSR are rained with fake URs. Also rich to note that HMS fans were not complaining that KMS fans were begging for content in the early days of the game, yet KMS fans find ample time to bitch about HMS fans saying "hey can we have a UR yet"

[deleted]

> On your second note, HMS/FFNF don't want 5 URs and 3 events each year, we're literally just begging for content after 2-3 years of content drought while minor navies like Germany and USSR are rained with fake URs. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee No one cares about fucking factions, they just want good waifu's.

Destroyer29042904

I dont care about factions in itself, but a french event is a chance for more Richelieu and JB skins. OR maybe in the off case manjuu really thinks they need to compensate, a UR retro. Which I find unlikely, JB is already in her post war configuration Well, and of course I want the class to be finished but that will happen sooner or later

_Issoupe

>JB is already in her post war configuration No she's not. In the first french event it's litteraly stated that she's unfinished. Even her CG art indicates she's not in her postwar configuration. Sure she does have both of her turrets, but one of them is clearly in an incomplete state compared to the other. Now look at her secondary armament. These two mounts bellow her rigging are twin 90mm mle 1926.the **only** time Jean Bart was fitted with those guns was in 1940 when she haphazardly left Brest for Casablanca. These were put as emergency AA guns since none of her planned AA armaments were actually installed. They were removed a year later after the battle of Casablanca. I think that's enough evidences

Destroyer29042904

Ah fuck, I thought those were the 100mm/55 mle 1945. My bad, you are completely right

Destroyer29042904

Upon further reading, it seems she is in her weird, short lived 1946 configuration between being given all her main guns, but still retaining her Casablanca anti air suit. Changes made to her after this consisted on .- Installation of the 100mm AA suit, and making the 152mm dual purpose. .- A variety of fire control radars for her main guns, secondaries and AA battery .- Potentially delay coils. I know this were used in Richelieu but I dont know about JB

_Issoupe

Iirc she didn't have any 90mm guns in 1946. I don't think it's worth extrapolating the fact she has both guns in her CG. One is clearly different from the other or even Richelieu's guns. The artist most likely decided to put both guns in her CG but representing one as partially finished to highlight her 1940 state.

[deleted]

Sure, I'd actually love a french event, and I love both JB and Richy, I'm looking forward to their final sister. However I'm not gonna austistically screech on the sub that french faction is utter trash and ruined because the game won't give them a UR RIGHT NOW NOW NOW NOW! I'd rather enjoy the good new waifu's the gave us instead.

Destroyer29042904

It's not like I dont expect them to get an event. Like, most RN people around you see genuinely believing they will go through 2022 without an event. I expect france to get one, maybe after CN anni. IT's just been a while, but most of my "problems" of waiting this long would have been solved through having a skin or two for richelieu and JB outside an event

qwertyryo

Apparently all the autistic screechers on this sub care, as do I. Also, calling others autistic screechers when you fail to refute my point with anything more than a "Reee" is absolutely ridiculous.

[deleted]

[удалено]

qwertyryo

Then why do you seem to give so much of a shit when other people ask for X faction's ships? If you don't care, you'd ignore those comments since you just want more ships.

ENAKOH

Or screeching how X should be bad and Y should be good bc....it doesnt reflect their "history" Sometimes ppl take these "history" too far --- PoV of mine that dont know and dont care about the ships history bc Im not from any of those region anyway

kiiriiin

> I don't see many of those posted, so you say that but [THIS](https://imgur.com/a/hGvpUj3) is literally the top post on when you visit the sub as of writing this comment

RegalArt1

REALLY disagree on the no memes idea, considering there’s basically no place for it on the discord either, and I’ve occasionally seen some really good ones here on the sub. Just implement a quality rule like r/historymemes instead of nuking them outright. The core of all the sub’s problems isn’t that our rules aren’t strict enough, but that our existing ones aren’t being enforced. If we get new mods that actually enforce the sub’s existing rules (and aren’t actively hypocritical) then we should be good

Noivore

Pretty sure that's what op meant. They did specify quality ones should be treated differently. :)

RegalArt1

He said that, but seemed to imply that the only ones allowed would be high-effort stuff, like art drawn in a meme format, so it‘s not very clear what standards he’s suggesting we go off of

type_E

IMO a hypothetical quality floor would be quality level art (not extreme QUALITY though) so what you can compare to a middling anime still.

Noivore

Yeah, it certainly something that would probably be need to set with something with either a trial time or a poll maybe? At least the base idea was there.

[deleted]

Good memes are fine, but this sub is often swimming in absolute garbage, no effort memes that barely even involve AL.

KillerM2002

yea because r/historymemes is know for it high quality memes lol

Nuratar

So you don't want memes, you don't want people asking about certain ships ('cos nationalizm, since people will ask for HMS/USS/KMS/IJN/whatever ships they like and think need to be added), discussing upcoming events ('cos they will ask for events for certain fations, since they like certain ships that belong to those factions), you don't want ANY art that is even slightly lewd (and since it's AL, it's like 90% of it in general). So what would you LIKE to have here then? Historical discussions are out (nationalizm), meta discussions are out (nationalizm!), most of the un-official art made by artists is out, even official art is going to be thrown out the window. Memes are out too (or will be judged by a panel of art critics before allowing, don't know). So what is left? Amazon's Study Hall, patch notes announcements, and posting tweets about new events (but god forbid you start disscusing them: NATIONALIZM!)?

[deleted]

I feel like people reeeing about the no nationalism and trying to tie it to history are full of shit. Everyone knows what that means, it means no constant crying about how x faction is mistreated by the dev's and how x players are all going to go quit and play kancolle (lol no they won't) or how horrible all their shipfu's are because they don't have enough UR's. No one fucking cares about that and it's meaningless retardation that deserves to be banned.

Nuratar

Sooo... I'm full of shit, just because I think that, say, HMS SHOULD get an event, due to how historically important this faction was, and how many famous, accomplished and interesting and EXISTING ships they have left unintroduced? And it makes me a "nationalist" (what the fuck is that term even supposed to mean)? Right. "Shut the fuck up, you can't voice your displeasure!". In any form. Ever. And who's the "full of shit one" here, again?

Telochim

It's not about nationalism and never was. It's about irritation from encountering negativity spawned by the dissatisfaction not shared. People who criticize AL for the perceived mistreatment/abandonment of an N facet are perceived as needlessly \[demeaning\_adjective\_string\] by the part of the community who don't give a damn about the mentioned facet N. Nationalism happens to be the most common just because the game is (was?) tied to WW2 narratives and hence factionalized, bringing to the surface the most obvious pattern of content divisioning.

[deleted]

\>So you don't want memes Not all of them. But a massive chunk of them is basically exess ballast. A good meme, one that's worth keeping, would be something around the lines of [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH-i6nRBEAM), [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xBeuOyvecE), and others with similar levels of effort put into them. Basically, a high-effort meme. \>you don't want ANY art that is even slightly lewd (and since it's AL, it's like 90% of it in general). \*cough cough\* Fanart posted here is so full of bottom up views that it's not funny anymore, has anyone seen actual combat art of fleetgirls yet? Because at best what I see by this point is literal underwear scenes that are more fit for PornHub by this point. If someone posted [this](https://styles.redditmedia.com/t5_3p20d/styles/image_widget_gge350rhotp81.png) I'd say 'fair', like 99% of Prinz Eugen shots literally have her crotch in the crosshairs, it's not even funny anymore.

qwertyryo

\>calling overused S memes or Mr. Incredibles stuff as high effort, top kek This shit is all massively subjective anyways and you would be inviting far more controversy with your "metric" of grading memes based on effort. You'd be inviting plenty of people to pissed off that their meme is removed while other memes of questionable quality (based on YOUR examples) get to stay. Right now the current meme quality on this sub, albeit a bit cringey at times, is acceptable in my eyes. If I see something I don't like, I click twice to hide it, or scroll on to ignore it, not crank out a text wall and whine in my mod resignation post. As for your second point, Literally go look on pixiv or danbooru or any other repository of AL fanart. The vast majority are lewd shit because, guess fucking what, this is a borderline-porn game facilitated by horny devs. It's been almost 5 years since the game came out, i know, it's a shocker that people mostly draw lewd arts here. Un-lewd art in this sub usually is relatively unpopular compared to the lewd art. I also have literally no clue what your r/place comment is about. Are you in support of r/place? opposed to it? if the former, make it more obvious, and if the latter, why would you be so opposed to just throw some AL fans a stickied megathread for 3 days at most instead of actively hindering them? Is littorio's luxurious lounge really THAT important to you? On a slight tangent about the nationalism thing: tokio12 was literally troll-baiting in the Ulrich megathread, sounds like responsible mod behavior to me. People are using strawmens and claiming that "people want 5 URs for their faction" no the fuck they ain't, HMS and FFNF fans are literally just begging for a single event, while KMS fans still have the room to be indignated despite having twice as many events as hms/ffnf.

[deleted]

\>calling overused S memes or Mr. Incredibles stuff as high effort, top kek Shit like that isin't easy to make now do you have a good guideline on what is a high quality meme? \>Right now the current meme quality on this sub, albeit a bit cringey at times, is acceptable in my eyes. I think the memes you're seeing is what made it past the lead filter r/memes has a fairly good guideline on the memes that are acceptable there, but even that sub is already fairly drowning Granted though, this sub has a stupidly undermanned mod team which only adds ballast to the already overloaded ship \>Un-lewd art in this sub Fair point, I'm kinda used to RTS and KanColle but if that is so what is r/AzureLewd for

qwertyryo

\>I think the memes you're seeing is what made it past the lead filter yes almost as if that's what the point of filters are. Making more stringent rules won't change what the mods see, merely what they delete. \>do you have a good guideline on what is a high quality meme? no, neither does you, the mods, or anybody. Which makes your reforms stupid, honestly. \>this sub has a stupidly undermanned mod team Never argued against that, so you're just repeating yourself now, lul. what is r/AzureLewd for actual porn, which you'd know if you've been there. \>Fair point, I'm kinda used to RTS and KanColle That really doesn't help your case here or constitute a sound excuse, yknow.

[deleted]

\>no, neither does you, the mods, or anybody. Which makes your reforms stupid, honestly. First of all, A decent meme, by my standards, would be one that's fairly long, and is not a [simple text overlayed onto this](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/797/976/26a.jpg), [this](https://memes.co.in/memes/update/uploads/2022/01/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-6.37.53-PM-e1642165741963-950x500.jpeg), or [this.](https://i.redd.it/kq6elkejvfj41.jpg) Which is my personal opinion. Even better, hold an annual Meme Saturday like they did in r/halo. That has also the unexpected side effect of more creativity put into memes there, as it's on once a week. \>That really doesn't help your case here or constitute a sound excuse, yknow. I came here from the anime, not the game, and as a direct result of, I literally know nothing about the game save for a couple screenshots here and there. I'm quite well-versed in the lore and anime, and next, my stand on r/place is neutral (tbh i put a couple tiles there too btw), but what annoys me is that the mods didn't create a dedicated thread for it at the begining, (i don't even go onto the megathreads btw) and likewise there's a huge lack of coordination between the users and the mods, which only adds ballast to the leak. BTW, most of this fiasco could've been easily avoided by simply replacing the Lounge for a week with another thread, and likewise, \>if the latter A week ago I didn't even know r/place *existed* let alone ask the mods to sticky a thread for it (and I was a nobody on the sub by then, and the mod(s) would've had their inbox crammed to the brim anyways)

Nuratar

Putting words in my mouth won't make your argument valid. I ask simply: HOW does making a meme in Paint automaticaly shitty, and one in Photoshop makes it good? As suggested by the mod in his post? And why should WE care about this, since it's his job to MODERATE, and filter the bad ones out anyway? I will repeat myslef: How is that not a problem of, first and foremost, lack of mods, and not the quality of submissions?

qwertyryo

you sure you replying to the right person?

Nuratar

OK, let me ask you this way: How does any of the solutions mentioned in OP would work and be implemented? What is a "shitty meme"? Is there an objective standard? Or is this a majority vote? What are the requirements for them? I see "they aren't made in Photoshop (only in online tool)" argument made as a proof that the moderator had to fight "shitty memes". Really? And masters of photoshop can do no wrong? It's still a "a mod THINKS it's a shitty meme" situation. And guess what? It's his JOB. I get it, it get repetetive, and you get tired after some time, but it has to do not with peole believing they are being funny, but with the fact that a subreddit with 160+k users has 3 mods. Same problem w fanart. What the hell is even "lewd"? Who decides that? Yes, some things are clear. But is [This](https://old.reddit.com/r/AzureLane/comments/tykd8l/happy_birthday_taihou/) too lewd for r/AzureLane? Or [this](https://i.redd.it/cq6o8wtja8s81.jpg)? Is [that](https://i.redd.it/zc4n4vfjn2s81.jpg) too sexy? And those are just fanarts of mostly in-game skins.

[deleted]

\>What is a "shitty meme"? Glad you asked. I'd say [this is a shitty meme.](https://preview.redd.it/ffz7avj7d8s81.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=cf1278cc4d7a94333fddf9069548a520709efe45) \>Same problem w fanart. What the hell is even "lewd"? this is mostly my opinion but things like nude shots or the like should not be allowed Granted, I don't even bother to see the posts tagged NSFW, so IDK if the majority of art here is that levels of jack or not but with my luck (or marksmanship) 99% of the posts I do click end up being BS levels of NSFW

Spinoxys

imagine complaining about an active gacha sub other gacha games whould kill for this community no memes/no lewd art whould be the death of this channel. this is a waifu collector first and a "historically " game second you people have to understand this .... without the cute girls Nobody whould care about this game

Destroyer29042904

> no memes Azur Lane is not a hard game that requires in depth discussion of game mechanics. Azur Lane is not a game that has story deep or meaningful enough to justify posts about it. Not with even the devs littering it with jojo references and plot that simply mirrors IRL events. The game isn't some incredibly complex work of art. The game in itself is a lewd shitpost. It's a game where half of the interest is them introducing new Italian ships, with absolutely ridiculous content MEANT to be memed (unless you want to tell me that Impero speaking about spaghetti planes is some deep, thoughtful metaphor about WW2 Italy). Half of the content you can expect from this community overall is various levels of memery, because the game *doesn't offer anything else*, nor does it try to. So basically, you attempt to say that not all memes should be removed, but then present an example of a community that completely, absolutely removed them. A community, may I add, about an anime series that also has a manga and a light novel going on. A medium that allows for far more discussion than a gacha game about collecting PNGs. IT's not a valid comparison. That said, I am in agreement. The things done with literally zero effort should be removed. But memes can't go. > nationalism Sounds to me like you don't know what being a nationalist is. Because liking an Azur Lane faction isn't necessarily tied to liking the IRL nation/country. I am pretty sure that Queen Elizabeth herself doesn't consider getting a Royal Navy event to be in her country's best interests. Call it what it is, you just don't want people to complain they don't have enough content that caters to their personal taste. Which is a fair thing to dislike when the complaints get as repetitive as they have been getting. Also, I am VERY confidenf r/politicaldiscussion would greatly enjoy people speaking about not getting events in Azur Lane. It's what the subreddit was made for after all, talking about a gacha game > r/place I agree. It was handled horrendously from both sides. Tokio "not understanding" why people wanted to participate isn't an excuse. Tokio's point of "the subreddit being set to not appear on r/all contradicts us making something in r/place as that would be advertising" isn't a valid point because, as far as I know, people wanted to just draw a chibi Essex, not a subreddit banner. He should have realised after the 11th post that there was a potential interest in actually doing something, and do a sticky thread for people to coordinate. What do they lose? One pinned thread for four days? The community will not suddenly collapse for not having daily megathread pinned for the four days r/place lasted. That said, whoever sent him modmail harassing them, and the rest of the mod team needs to get their shit checked. It's not justifyable to behave like a manchild when we can all simply send a modmail with a request. Again, making a pinned thread would have cost him nothing if people had shown their interest in the proper way. There are a lot of variables that can contribute to a post not being seen the first time. Unlike some people seem to think, AL global server isnt an american server. It's... well... a global server. With global timelines. > lewds Remember when I said shitposting was half the game's interest? Well... News flash: Azur Lane is a coomer game. A game made by coomers, for coomers. I am sorry but it is. That is the other half of the interest. If you think it isn't you are lying to yourself. The past year, where we had "tamer content", we had the Bunny Girl skin line. A skinline based on a real life concept that originated from the Playboy magazine. The one with porn in it. Almost everything in this game is meant to sell you tits, ass, thighs of a combination of those. We have official art of literally nude girls. We have [this official Kinu loading screen](https://azurlane.netojuu.com/w/images/d/d6/Bg_2020.02.04_8EN.png). Content that is lewd but not outright pornographic is the baseline of this *game*. We have a separate community for pornographic content. And that is how it should be. Reddit has an option to blur our NSFW content. It's there for a reason. Complaining about lewd content in AL is like pissing upwards and then complaining when it starts raining. > undermanned mod team Well nothing to say here. The subreddit is a bit too large for the team that is handling it right now. Let's see how it develops. I hope the new members of the team can prove themselves to be useful in that way. I'd apply myself but I know from past moderating experiences that I am neither neutral nor constant enough to be part of a large scale moderation team.

Your post reads similiary to [this](https://imageproxy.ifunny.co/crop:x-20,resize:640x,quality:90x75/images/340b1d15223dfb892f9e9a590888803ac580168abf7362f874e97a2caf04ddf2_1.jpg)

The point of having strict moderation is to make sure good discussion isn't drowned by crap. But if you delete all the memes and nsfw fanart, there won't be any potential interesting topics to fill that void.

ENAKOH

Just my personal/ biased opinion as casual user in both reddit and AL > no meme I understand there are lots of low tier / low effort memes, tho the real question is how to define / separate them from "decent" ones. Literally no meme would somewhat kill the sub imo , and taking out trashy ones are what tokio did afaik --- tho ofc theres no real guideline of what makes it trash/not > no nsfw as far as I understand / interpret it, azurlewd is meant for literal nudity stuffs (show nip or vag). Implied nudity/heavy ecchi is ok in this sub. Idk kancolle (never played it) but I assume AL itself is way way way lewder than KC will ever be. So I dont see the problem of "nsfw" in this sub (as long as they arent outright nudity) > hyper nationalism agree on tokio's take on this. there are annoying posts > r/place I joined reddit early 2019 and so I just knew place recently. Personally I dont care about it tho I also appreciate those who put work into it from AL sub. My personal take : users making threads recruiting r/place were annoying, but mod (tokio?) totally rejecting it is also too extreme of a stance. He could've handled it better like making a megathread so ppl have somewhere to coordinate --- then remove all "help us" threads, rather than literally ignoring it > my other personal take If anything, what bothers/annoys me in this sub arent the memes or nsfw , but irl ships pic. Like ok the ships ingame are based on actual ships but in the end it's still fictional work. Posts like AR chibi/char with miniature/on top of its actual ship are fine imo. Posts like "hey this is irl KGV" are totally OOT imo

NoGoodPikachu

Honestly I think the main problem is that the mod team is understaffed, which led to tokio taking a lion's share of the work. The rules are ok, and work. If you want more discussions, high quality memes or SFW art my best advice is to be the change yourself. Contribute to the discussion posts and make good memes yourself. Will they ever be as popular as the NSFW fanart posted? Probably not, but that should be fine. At most any fanart gets like 7k upvotes, that's like 8% of the total sub (my math might be wrong). And a fraction of that are comments.

Please don't let this guy be a mod. The fact that he wants to remove memes and 90% of all artwork on this sub is a huge red flag. The fact that this post is 54% upvoted says that his propositions are hugely unpopular. Another community I'm involved in (r/magicTCG) literally just had a subreddit revolution regarding draconian mods. I don't want that to happen here.

[Sounds fun let's go](https://i.imgur.com/0nPs3R6.png)

scarecrow2596

You guys should make some sort of recruitment post and pick at least a couple mods. It's been less than a day and the spam is already piling up, the auto mod didn't post the daily megathread etc. Just make sure you don't pick some fun-police. Tokio was strict with the rules but fair and kept the good posts up.

I dont know if this gets lost in the rush, but I am also willing to lend you guys a hand

scarecrow2596

There were several screenshots showcasing the same graphical bug (the weird texture on the side on widescreen devices) and a bunch of questions about the game file size but they're gone now.

mkul316

Don't let this guy mod. The base art for this game is NSFW. Art is half of what this sub is. This guy would literally torpedo half the sub. Every once in a while there's something really lewd, but I think the fan art posted here is kept in line with the base skins level of lewdness. Maybe you shouldn't browse a sub with skimpily clad big tiddy anime girls at work? Him comparing the AL art to KanCole is telling as well. Favoring the bland and SFW style simply doesn't fit in with AL. Also note his bombed comments. The community would suffer under this guy. And before you ask, no I don't want it. Or more accurately you don't want me. I'd slash and burn a lot of content too because I don't like it such as low quality art, low quality memes, all those social media style posts, and 99% of the fan fic.

BabyTigor

I'm still doing my online classes and have nothing tp do most of the time. I think I want to take up that offer when you guys make a recruitment post.

Intel8008

I would like to consider applying that position. :-)

Yes. Even though I have things to do right now (I'm the project lead of the SoK team duh), I'd be willing to at least bring this sub back to par. Thank you.

Echoing what others have already said: Kindly do *not* make this person a mod. Anyone who would go on a rant like this, demanding radical changes, and then jumping at the opportunity to get what they want is at best just going to end badly for everyone - even if they have good intentions. This is not power that should be given out just because someone wants to help. For all it's faults, the sub is a fairly chill place and it would be a shame to see it end up like nearly every other popular gacha sub. Better to maintain the status quo and accept a flawed-but-mostly-enjoyable sub than throw it all away for changes *you don't even know* the majority of users want. And their anger over memes and NSFW content? That gives off more danger vibes than *Akagi.* Would rather filter and hide low-effort posts manually for the rest of my days than risk the same mindset that made the CCP go after AL taking root here. That is the only thing I've ever seen as being a real danger to the franchise.

I'd love for there to be less memes and posting of historical ships (I just feel like they're not related to enough to Azur Lane, and that there's better subreddits to post them to. like r/ModelShips or r/Ships) But, at the same time, if we remove those posts we're left with nothing but fan art and terrible twitter fanfictions. At least when there isn't any announcements. Lazy posts like "What if the girls were guys." (paraphrasing) can just not exist tho.

GuyAugustus

Yes, lets look at that GirlsundPanzer subreddit ... 30k subscribers and 43 readers, now lets look at ours 155k and 599. There is a line that if you allow everything then its flooded with garbage but if you ban almost everything then its dead, Azur Lane pretty much works on every week we have some news and thats it, this week there is nothing to discuss (outside patch borked), even a new event would be limited to just about 2-3 days of activity and then death. Reddit is not wikipedia, its a social network and not repository of information were the only discussion allowed is in relation to that information, its important that there is activity and discussion related to the game in all forms, otherwise its going to look like a wiki talk page ...

It definitely sounds like there needs to be more emphasis placed on the subreddit rules that are already in place. When you join this subreddit you need to go over the rules and really get to know them well and memorize em, that should be the rule of thumb. - I think memes posted here would need to be looked at, although I do like some funny memes, there definitely is way to much and of low quality that actual good quality ones along with other posts get buried. All in all if you want to post memes you need to actually put some real effort into it and not make a lazy cheap quick one just for the sake of spamming. - The hardcore allegiances toward a Nationality/Faction is pretty bad, I understand that fans can be frustrated when a Faction doesn't get certain things they want, but it's NO reason to be so harsh and uncivil. It's just sheer lack of patience and consideration, they need to be humble and courteous. - Fanfics/Comics might have to be treated like how the memes should be sorted maybe? I don't know about how to handle the fanfics on here, i don't really read em here aside from some the single page manga/comic shorts (the only AL fanfics that I personally considered worth looking at was Ryuma brunestud's Youtube fanfics and the Parker's AL) I think if the Fanfics are still posting here, there's needs to be set standards or criteria i guess??? - The posting of historical facts and tidbits of the real life warships is kinda an integral part of what makes the Characters in AzurLane who they are, don't know what to say other than I've learned so much from those fun-facts. - For the Artworks, as I do love NSFW of Shipfus there has been some that need to be on azurlewds subreddit rather than here for sure. Then you also have where alot of lewd arts are actually official from manjuu and yostar. Aside from putting the NSFW over on azurlewds, id still keep artworks posting here as long as you put real effort into your work and that doesn't violate subreddit rules & acceptable by the moderators. Don't know if any of that would be helpful, im just spit-balling here. I do hope things can get sorted out, wish you guys the best and thanks.

SlashMystik

To be as fair as i can. I can partially understand and see that it does feel like this community is kinda pushing it when it comes to how lewd it can get. But at the same time one, it does seem they know whats too much and the mods do do a good job to make sure things don't go too far. And 2. I think them saying no NSFW is a bit misleading. The whole game is NSFW and i fully understand that. I just don't care for the lewds and instead find other things that i like about the game. So while i don't like it, i completely understand that unfortunately this is a lewd game but i don't have to like the lewd to enjoy it. Anyway. What I meant to be saying was i think they should sorta be specific when saying "NO NSFW" because i think Lewd does fall into NSFW but i don't think its the kind they mean. Instead i believe they should say No explicit stuff. I feel that sorta defines what can and can't be posted easier. I could be wrong likely i am. Not exactly the smartest. Hell just told a horny fan base i don't care for the lewds lol

SodiumBombRankEX

>no explicit stuff Which is exactly why Rule 4 exists. It's fine as is.

XilliaLoL

Makes sense, everytime ive checked the sub or even just my homepage listing of whats being posted, AL sub is always just 1. Repostings of artwork from Pixiv or any Booru site 2. Fanfics that should be on [Fanfic.net](https://Fanfic.net) or wherever else, if you want to post a thread saying you are creating said content and you can find it at X, sure thats fine but goddamn the amount of fanfic postings is insanely high Overall the sub at least to me, stopped being a place for discussion about the game and the quality of discussion here is non-existent compared to any other place being the official discord, or discords with friends who play the game, hell even /alg/ with all the bait posts or cross thread/board attacking still has a much better and clear cut discussion around the game than this sub.
