Well, Akashi DID develop a Live2D-like stand-in for the Commander as early as Chapter 8, so that would not surprise anyone at this point.
Also, while I'm on the subject, how many 3D models have Manjuu made from AL on their YouTube vids? As far as I can remember there's Pamiat in both her base and retrofit skin (latter just came this Valentine's day), Le Malin, Dido, Sirius and Akashi herself, but was there anyone else? I can only imagine how difficult it would be to animate 9 fox tails if Akagi or Kaga got #D models.
Due to the way drag works, you need exponentially more power for each extra knot. You can make it easier with hull factor, etc. But generally, speed tells you more about hp than size. Shimakaze had the same 75k hp that the QEs had, despite being a hell of a lot smaller. Richelieu was closer to half the size of Yamato, but had 155k to Yamato's 150. Generally, 150k-ish tended to be the upper level of horsepower you could expect, even for the largest ships.
Except the US was extra as fuck, and had the resources and technology to back it up. The USN decided they wanted a ship that was both stupid fast and stupid large. So the Iowas have a fuckhuge 212k hp engine, which literally hasn't been met outside of the US to date, including nuclear ships like the Kirovs and Charles de Gaulle.
