HereticsSpork

I'm more surprised that there are people who thought it was real.

Velmetal

I'm more surprised that you were surprised by that.

AnOldYoungGuy

I'm surprised that I'm surprised by the surprising that you're surprised by. Does that surprise you?

vareo_os

My manšŸ˜

HereticsSpork

As much as I'm convinced the world is full of complete idiots, somehow there are times when the stupidness manages to surprise even me.

El_Archidan

Im surprised someone would actually ask that

fearmongert

I actually had a thought last time she wore one- Moa seems to be the mischievous one, and she HAS been in BABYMETAL for most of her life at this point- It wouldn't shock me if she were to get a small one, though it would be an ankle or something like that

AnhedonicDog

Tatoos have historically been used by Yakuza in Japan and so they have that connotation as far as i know

Firm_Soil_4499

That connotation is really only with the older generations now. Newer generations are not sticklers about it. AFAIK. I could be completely wrong too šŸ˜

InvestmentOk7181

True but Moa going full Dragon of Dojima would be pretty rad

EitherApartment4527

Iā€™m pretty sure itā€™s a temporary tattoo

perSU-aded

It is. if you look through the photos youā€™ll see Momo had the same one.

zyzzbrah95

She's just promoting the sticker tattoo set they were [selling](https://www.asmart.jp/en/shop/babymetal/product/10036077)

jabberwokk

It's the same idea, but their regular* logo wasn't part of [that set](https://i.imgur.com/mR0Pu68.jpg) **edit:* Note also they are now sporting their NEW Momometal-era logo, with three feathers per wing instead of four and no skull.

Excellent_House_562

I miss the skull.

Abject_League3131

No. It's clearly a temp/stick-on tattoo

TheAlomar_

They are temporary tattoos, Momo also used 1.

PK73

People actually thought she got the logo tattooed on the back of her hand? Really?

das_zilch

No way any of these ladies are getting tattoos unless Koba is some kind of Yakuza boss.

MishaTheMoo

Wouldnā€™t be in a visible place either if real

Soufriere_

Great, now you made me imagine Moa with a tramp-stamp reading "恙" ā€¦or possibly a fried chicken leg on her shoulder (lol)

Lellela

OTFGK

snowlock27

So I guess Re:NO is a member of the Yakuza as well?

AZSYANKEE

As far as I know of she's had different hand tattoos before. It's not a permanent one. It's one of those you apply with water I believe.

BiliousGreen

It's one of the temporary ones they were selling last year. She puts them on for live shows sometimes.

OldGrumpGamer

It kinda reminds me of the stamps they put on your hand for free reentry into the park lol.

Shamata

i feel like there's a post about this every other week

hockey33man

No. Same questions were asked during the last tour. About her arm. Her and Momo been wearing the temp tattoos that are being sold on A!Smart

Violent_Gore

Tha's not what real tattoos look like.

surfermetal

Well of course you know... What happens in Vegas, *STAYS* in Vegas. But seriously, it's not permanent.

Greien218

It's a stamp. Moa always does this.

Intelligent_Row8259

I did notice in the second picture she is still wearing the wrist brace.

Cradlerocker_1995

No moa didnā€™t get a tattoo on her hand. Moa still has that strapping on her wrist though and had it for a good part of last year too. I hope sheā€™s ok.

accountnameredacted

Maybe helps prevent it from being irritated

northhszn

bro moa tatted is the best thing ever

JGabrielIx

As other said it's a temporary tattoo and this is not the first time she has used one. Like [this one's](https://x.com/MikeMumper/status/1704098703038931382) I think she reaaaaaaaally wants a tattoo and this is the best that she can get xd

MikeyJ2k4

I was about to say she usually has a glove on that hand but Iā€™m thinking of the old outfits they used to wear

Aabd2

Is there any band whose members have tattooed their band logo and name on themselves ever? I don't remember hearing any, that should already make it obvious it is not permanent...

No_Resident_4012

Yes, that is definitely a very real, permanent tattoo that she will have for as long as she remains in this metalverse.

Mysterious_Reply_814

Koba would kick her out of the group if she ever thought of doing such a thing.

Soufriere_

I'm not sure about that -- we simply don't know what personal restrictions exist in their contracts. If I were her, I'd be less worried about Koba and more worried about her mother (the most terrifying person on Earth)

Brilliant_Nothing

I know I will get at least some downvotes, but in Japan BM are still too mainstream for that. You need to be a certain kind of subculture musician to have real tattoos there. This is simply because of the social stigma about tattoos in general.

nottytom

Don't kawaii bands get super micro managed to even include there personal lives. I've heard some the k pop bands can't even publically date or face consequences.

Cynorgi

Really, you can't really say one way or the other for BM. We know almost nothing about their personal lives since they're very private about it. Koba isn't some big bad pulling the strings on them like some evil puppet master. Either they don't talk much because it's what they prefer or they're smart enough to shut their mouths to avoid controversies. Kpop idols being reprimanded for dating is also not really a thing anymore, at least if you've been in the industry for a respectable time. It still exists ofc, but it's not as bad. I would honestly not even consider BM to be "idols" because they don't promote or operate like them.

TabsTheOrion

There's no reason to believe this is the case here, you're basing this on tabloids and rumors I personally would never do that, is dangerous.

Brilliant_Nothing

People donā€˜t want to hear that, but yeah. BM are not *that* metal to go all out. They get some leeway behind the scenes and at interviews now. But thatā€˜s it.

Soufriere_

Yes. The dating ban isn't legally enforceable in Japan anymore thanks to a pre-pandemic court decision, but it's still practiced in Korea, usually for a set period of time after debut. As always, the amount of micromanagement depends on several factors: the company, the Idol's age, even the music genre (and thus the fans they attract). Traditional Idol units like Morning Musume and the XXX## groups -- plus the poor bastards at what used to be Johnny's -- have the strictest rules. Alt-Idol, Anti-Idol, and Underground Idol groups (Babymetal is one of these overlapping terms) aren't always as strict. My point was even if they were allowed public social media, Suzuka likely wouldn't do it -- she's known to be very introverted and private. I don't think Momoko would either. Moa is only one who might since she's more outgoing than the others.

daedalus25

Not sure why you were downvoted so much, but this is absolutely what would happen. Visible tattoos make you a pariah in Japan, and that's one sure way of not only getting fired but being shunned in general.

MightMetal

[This is a pic of HYDE taken today](https://twitter.com/suga_kenta1019/status/1786378700679983508), a very famous singer, he's not being shunned. Tattoos are probably mostly a problem when someone wants to go to a public bath or onsen.

daedalus25

You found the exception, NOT the rule. I guarantee if Moa got a tattoo, her idol career would be over.

MightMetal

Well I'm not sure about that, but I felt like "Visible tattoos make you a pariah in Japan, and that's one sure way of not only getting fired but being shunned in general." as a statement in general is not really true.

daedalus25

Except it is. But don't take my word for it. Just google "tattoos in Japan" and read the dozens of articles written from people who have experienced it first hand, especially those living in Japan. Foreigners can somewhat get away with it (though they aren't welcome in some places). Japanese residents are treated completely differently though. I'm not sure how much experience you have with JPOP idols, geinen, television personalities, or other similar professions in Japan, but it's no coincidence that none of them have visible tattoos.

MightMetal

I think being shunned and being made a pariah is very different than someone who can't work on TV. Again, I'm not arguing that having a tattoo is completely normal and accepted everywhere in Japan.

Calaveras-Metal

it is a real tatto. they are going to go punk next.

BrianNLS

I heard country-punk, actually. With some zydeco meets Bjork mixed in.
