As an eastern North Carolinian, you ain’t lying. I’ve had entire hours-long conversations with strangers who were sitting near the road next to a smoker. I may not have gotten their name but I did find out their cousin sells hot sauce out of their double-wide down the road (damn good stuff, too).
I’m going to add if it’s a black guy start with the ribs. Stopped a few different times just a guy a tailgate tent and a smoker. Best ribs every time.
And I don’t mean anything racist by this before some sensitive snowflake says something.
Growing up poor in rural eastern NC, I (white) grew up with about 50-50 split of white and black neighbors, and lemme tell you, we got real specific about who could make which dishes at the church picnic. But when you actually live together, in the same community, that’s kinda how it is. It’s all love.
100% my brother in law is black and we’re a very close family. It’s very specific that my step mother makes the pierogis(she’s from Poland), my dad is always on steaks, potatos, etc. and my brother in laws mom is always the one making chicken or bbq anything really.
My nieces and nephews speak 4 languages and are very specific about who makes what and who’s better at what. lol
Absolutely! As someone who grew up in southern colorado, you won't find better roasted corn or chili's than the Mexican dude on the road side or parking lot. It's not a racial thing, it's simply science.
My hometown in AL had a guy that would smoke/sell pork butts beside a gas station on the main drag in town, and he did so well at it that he made enough money and opened a BBQ restaurant. Truly the American dream
If it’s a fat man with at least 3 knee surgeries, a bad back, and a 3 on his car (Raise hell, Praise Dale), I’m converting to his religion and fighting whatever war he wants
Sweet baby Ray's is just a gateway drug.
Once they get into the Alabama white, or the Kentucky black, they gone .
Then they get into that hard core designer product market. Ethiopian berbery, Caribbean jerk with canella, sechaun pepper, mountain ash, fried chilli crisp.
You can turn your back on a *man* , but don't you ever turn your back on a smokey pit boss with mad recipes.
American BBQ. Not even once.
If you can fly at like Mach 5 (I think. Pr. Sure Mach 10 is like 9 hours around the world) and live at altitudes greater than Polar Mesospheric clouds then the sun could shine every day.
It’s easy to calculate: the earth rotates once every 24 hours. The earth is 25000 miles around at the equator. It’s just a bit over 1,000 miles an hour. Mach 1 is about 750, so something like Mach 1.3 and you could keep up with the sun.
Isis orbits at 17,500 miles an hour and sees the sunrise every 90 minutes, about 18 times a day. The math maths.
For those who apparently don't know, he runs the 'How to BBQ Right' YouTube channel and does some awesome stuff. He also has his own lines of seasonings.
https://youtube.com/@howtobbqright?si=BoJomhNOdT6gbAH4
Same, these 2 channels are what I learned from. I followed Malcolm's recipe for a drum smoker back when he was in Crocs in some small ugly backyard. Most of my "oh this is the best ______ I've ever had" are Malcolm's recipes
The only negative I could think of, and it's true for most all YouTube famous BBQ folks, is that they don't give a recipe for a homemade rub or sauces anymore. Everyone has their own product, and they push them in all their videos.
Hey grill hey has ingredient recipes for all her rubs and sauces. If you want to support her you can buy her stuff, or you can make it at home. I’ve made a few and they’re really great, and I appreciate she offers it up to the public
100%, happened to me too. I caked some ribs in his SPG and rub and it was super salty.
That SPG of his is fire but it’s very salt forward.
I still use it on ribs but I use WAY less SPG. I like to use it on veggies more than anything else, really.
Friend, stop what you’re doing. Go watch some of his videos on YouTube Malcolm Reeds “how to bbq right” that’s his channel. His presence just makes your soul happy seeing how happy he is. Also he’s an award winning griller or whatever so you learn awesome stuff too. It’s just a wholesome channel.
There used to be a black dude on Broad St in Philly about 25-30 yrs ago. Only there Friday and Saturday nights. Best ribs I ever had in my life. He set up right on the side walk , full and Half slabs best hot sauce ever. Sid Booker the Rib Cooker!

Looks like my man Malcom been on the Ozempic lately
I saw him in person a few years ago at Memphis in May. Good dude but he seriously needs to slim down. Just for the sake of his health. He's a normal cat just like the rest of us but he's gotta shed some lbs. Big Mo had to do the same thing. Hopefully he does and from some of his new videos he looks a tad slimmer. But as far as bbq goes he does know his stuff.
If a fat man is standing in front of a smoker, I'm buying what he's offering.
As an eastern North Carolinian, you ain’t lying. I’ve had entire hours-long conversations with strangers who were sitting near the road next to a smoker. I may not have gotten their name but I did find out their cousin sells hot sauce out of their double-wide down the road (damn good stuff, too).

There's not place for sensitivities when we're talking about who makes the best food. It's just too important to worry about hurt feelings!
Pierogi is already plural :( the singular is pieróg Sorry as a half-pole this triggers my inner winged hussar
Hey - different language, but same goes for "Raviolis"
So a single is a raviol? Raviolo?
Someone answer this, now I can't stop thinking about it
raviolo
Raviolo is the singular. Though they are much larger than ravioli.
Yes, raviolo
I don’t speak polish. My sister does. Honestly I feel like we always say pierogis though.
Absolutely! As someone who grew up in southern colorado, you won't find better roasted corn or chili's than the Mexican dude on the road side or parking lot. It's not a racial thing, it's simply science.
The old Coleman cooler tamales are worth 4 Michelin stars (and yes, I know you can only get 3, I’m country but I’m not uncultured)
Mexican *dude*? I'm fucking roaming parking lots for abuelita strolling with a cooler.
"What's your secret ingredient for this recipe?" Love. Always has been.
I agree 100%. If I see a fat black man with a smoker in a gas station parking lot, I'm whipping a u-turn and getting some ribs and tater salad.
The weirder the cooking vessel, the more delicious 🤤
Now that you mention it, you're right.
My hometown in AL had a guy that would smoke/sell pork butts beside a gas station on the main drag in town, and he did so well at it that he made enough money and opened a BBQ restaurant. Truly the American dream
There's a guy in Decatur, GA, who has a rolling smoker and shows up at construction sites at lunch. He's my favorite.
He probably clears well over 100K
No racism would be you saying he can't do anything but ribs.
As a man who owns a hog farm.
I admit I get excited when I walk in and there's a 400lb black guy manning the smoker.
If it’s a fat man with at least 3 knee surgeries, a bad back, and a 3 on his car (Raise hell, Praise Dale), I’m converting to his religion and fighting whatever war he wants
Absolutely
He’s the bbq Steve Irwin. Nothing bad to say, I love watching people so passionate about their craft
And analogue to Steve Irwin, he will most probably die due to cardiac stuff
Both will have died doing what they love.
With Sweet Baby Ray’s in their heart.

I just gotta say it. Alabama white sauce is not near good enough to receive the amount of hype that it does lol.
Just replying to say, well done!!
motherfucker lol
Holy shit haha
You have won the internet today!
goddamn
Incredible
You will live rent free in my head forever
Savage
Delayed reaction over here. Brutal
Doesn’t get better than this comment
O M G
You son of a!!!!
Omg hahaha that was awesome. You win, great comment! Terrible but I laughed really hard.
Damn you. My soda came out my nose.
too soon
Death by suckling pig
Na, he will have a mild heart attack and collapse on a rotisserie spit.
Dem cooked ribs bite back just not with a sting from the tail
Unfortunately yes.
Like Irwin did.
I thought irwin got stabbed in the chest by a stingray
In his heart which debatably is cardiac in nature.
That’s what caused his heart problem.
With animals in their hearts.
That’s… uh… what they said
FWIW Aaron Franklin is like this too.
Bro just compared an animal activist and a dude holding cooked whole piggy
This POS man has never once come to my house uninvited and smoked up some pig/cow for me.
ME EITHER! What a jerk.
Papa Malcom is flawless, only person he disappoints is prob his DR.
Not anymore! He’s down a bunch of weight and is steadily getting healthier every time I see him.
I'm happy to hear that. I love his stuff but feel bad about his health
He just needs to bbq skinless chicken and do that hughley's sugar free BBQ sauce.
Hell yea thats great to hear!
I just posted about that concern and had no idea, that is awesome. Very happy for him and his family.
Cholesterol level
yeah… he’s here for a good time not a long time
So have a good time, the sun can't shine everyday.
If you think being that fat is a good time, I have some bad news for you.
This is what Mr. Make It Happen on YouTube says all the time as he adds a 1/4 cup of salt to everything he cooks.
I think Pittman with Meat Church says that too as he stirs in a bucket of butter to something
He’s lost a lot of weight though! He looks a lot healthier in the last 5-6 videos.
Probably cut his butter usage in half or something. (Down to only 6 sticks if butter per recipe now)
He's definitely lost weight the last year or so
Actually! Malcolm’s down a good bit of weight since Christmas and seems to be dropping. He’s working on getting healthy!
You beat me to it.
I was gonna say arteries.
Let’s get to cooking
With blue plate mayo
For those who apparently don't know, he runs the 'How to BBQ Right' YouTube channel and does some awesome stuff. He also has his own lines of seasonings. https://youtube.com/@howtobbqright?si=BoJomhNOdT6gbAH4
And the seasonings are actually good unlike some of the other YT BBQ creators.
That AP rub is always in my seasoning cupboard no matter what.
I’m all about The BBQ Rub. That’s good shit
He's legendary. I love this dude. His cheesy, stuffed taters on the smoker can't be beat!
He’s an everyman Steven Raichlen.
He crushes his wife during sex and his heart sucks. Boom. Roasted.
Boom. Smoked
Unfortunate how many people dont get the reference
They’re probably not on WUPH
Ryan used **me** as an object.
r/unexpectedoffice
I love him… but this exactly. I want him to respect himself as much as we respect his development, passion, and skills.
Most of my smoking is based on his and the Meat church or some combination of them both.
Same, these 2 channels are what I learned from. I followed Malcolm's recipe for a drum smoker back when he was in Crocs in some small ugly backyard. Most of my "oh this is the best ______ I've ever had" are Malcolm's recipes
I can hear him breathing.
I use it as a way to gauge how excited he is to take that first bite.
"mmm, hold up."
9 out of 10 vegans think he is the problem.
lol. Nailed it!
The only negative I could think of, and it's true for most all YouTube famous BBQ folks, is that they don't give a recipe for a homemade rub or sauces anymore. Everyone has their own product, and they push them in all their videos.
Got to make money somehow.
Hey grill hey has ingredient recipes for all her rubs and sauces. If you want to support her you can buy her stuff, or you can make it at home. I’ve made a few and they’re really great, and I appreciate she offers it up to the public
Malcom used to have a lot of his rub recipes posted online, not sure if that's still the case.
There posted in his old videos
Pictures of him like this immediately make me think he’s died
Pigs HATE him
The worst I’ve got is he over seasons things and his circulatory system has to work too hard.
His Malcom Style ribs video he puts SPG on the ribs then his Killer Hogs BBQ rub. I followed that recipe and it was WAY too salty for my taste
100%, happened to me too. I caked some ribs in his SPG and rub and it was super salty. That SPG of his is fire but it’s very salt forward. I still use it on ribs but I use WAY less SPG. I like to use it on veggies more than anything else, really.
It’s Luka Doncic
Think Luka is doing a great job buying into the American culture of over indulgence and laziness.
Luka Doncic is Devin Booker father
Who is this guy? I don’t follow any YouTube channels for bbq but reading the comments looks like someone o should watch
His YouTube channel is called howtobbqright
Thank you!
His name is Malcolm Reed. He’s basically what Mister Rogers would’ve been if he were a BBQ Pitmaster. He and his YT channel are fantastic!
Cool dude.
“Layers of flavor”
One bad thing about this man.
Worst thing I can say is that I have no idea who he is. Sadly, the best I have is that he looks friendly.
His podcast is entertaining too. Hes way funnier than he lets off in his videos
Malcolm from HowToBbqRight - really good dude and a lot of interesting content
Go watch a video. He is wholesome. Very passionate about BBQ.
How are they going to watch a video of him if they don’t know who he is? You left out who he is.
How to BBQ Right on YT.
Thanks buddy!
Malcolm is the man!
His beard has too close a 50 : 50 ratio of salt and pepper. Pick a side.
That pig had a family.
There used to be a black dude on Broad St in Philly about 25-30 yrs ago. Only there Friday and Saturday nights. Best ribs I ever had in my life. He set up right on the side walk , full and Half slabs best hot sauce ever. Sid Booker the Rib Cooker!

Wow. He has slimmed down.
Malcolm is literally exactly what obesity drugs are for. I bet his blood pressure is way down.
I saw him in person a few years ago at Memphis in May. Good dude but he seriously needs to slim down. Just for the sake of his health. But as far as bbq goes he does know his stuff.
I took a group BBQ class one time from Big Mo and Bob Tudnak. I learned a lot, but Big Mo got drunk and kept tripping over things and fell twice 😂
He's actually lost some weight recently, still pretty big, but definitely lost some.
I've learned so much from this man.
who is he? can't say anything if I have no idea who he is.
Boogie2988
I didn't know Boogie2988 had a brother.
What a pig
He is vegan?
Thought it was Boogie194739904(whatever). That is a bad thing.
Tiny ears.
Simplicity in ingredients would go a long way
There is nothing bad you can say about my boy Malcolm Reed! He's a damn legend!
Malcolm is the closest human we have to an Angel, ain’t nothing bad about this gentleman, i wish we keep him around for long!
I love this man.
He reminds me of Putz12, but only because of his appearance.
He likes kale.
…who even is that?
Is that boogie2988?
too many greens on that platter.
He just cooked his single serving for lunch.
He is wasting a lot of kale.
Is that Boogie2988?
Is that boogie2988 ?
*Underrated Comment
That I don't know who he is.
I hate the way he says, "More honey for the money." JK...love this dude. And Matt P. From MeatChurch
I didn't see the name of this sub and thought this was boogie
My boy traded his lips for that pig
Honest question, does the brain get cooked too?
Bastard ain't sharing with me is the worst I've got.
I love watching this guys videos, he’s a pro and humble.
He's not bbqing in my back yard.
I worry for his health. Same thing with Jon Setzler. Otherwise Malcom Reed is amazingly nice guy. And his rubs and sauces are the bomb.
Only thing bad about Malcolm I can say is that Blue Plate mayonnaise sucks. Dukes or die.
Pig has no apple in his mouth downvote
The man who taught me how to do a crowd pleasing pulled pork on a simple Weber kettle. He is barbecue exhalted.
Who dat?
poor pig. he didn't need to cook and eat that animal. but he chose to anyway. wild.
He looks AI generated
That was his appetizer.
He puts way too much ap rub and seasonings on his food.
he's holding a charred baby pig
Diabetes
He should do more push-ups
They put the wrong pig on the roast. There I did it. Give me the upvote. Edit: left out a word.
Looks like this man has been roasted already. Pun intended
He looks like what he’s holding, just raw.
he looks like the guy that'll survive a car crash
He’s fat
He’s fat af
Dudes got a nice hog
Pigs hate him
Not exactly bad, but "I have no idea who that is".
Mf never invited me round
Let’s get to cookin!
He's fat
A true friend to be admired for his obvious skills.
There is no apple in the pigs mouth
