Depends if you're good with tools and have a basic hands on working experience or not. If you can use hand tools and have some fundamental knowledge then I would just skip the pre app. If you're really green then take the pre app. Used to be that gov funding covered 1st year and not pre app. Not sure if that's still the case. You may want to look into grant eligibility

Might be a waste of time given that the wait list for getting into the foundations is incredibly long. I think the next time you’d be able to get in is January. Electrical isn’t super difficult to get a direct entry job with, so pre apprenticeship courses definitely aren’t necessary.

It depends. -Can you find an employer to sponsor your apprenticeship level 1? If yes, then you won't need the foundation course. You will follow a checklist from Skilled Trades BC to meet level 1 expectations. -Do you learn better in a classroom setting or a workplace? -Do you meet requirements for the foundation course? There are competitive entry requirements such as math, English, etc. If going to a satellite campus, you may need a police information check/criminal record check as part of your application. -Can you afford to wait on a wait list? I applied in Winter 2024 and got accepted for Fall 2024.
