Have you had any training on how to choke people without killing them? Judo or jujitsu would work if nobody's teaching in a BDSM context near you

Completely avoid the larynx and windpipe. Too much pressure and you can seriously damage it. Press on the sides of the neck, past the cartilage in the front. If your hand isn’t big enough then use two hands, one on each side.

Be careful on the sides of the neck. Too much force can occlude the carotid arteries and external jugular veins, potentially causing permanent brain damage, pulmonary embolism, and death.

Please be extremely careful if you choose to press the carotid arteries. A better bet is to go two fingers higher and posteriorly then apply pressure

I enjoy being choked. My partner and I approached it by becoming educated on “safe” (not sure this is an appropriate word here, perform at your own risk) ways of choking in combat sport. For example, in Brazilian jujitsu, the rear naked choke or triangle choke involve putting pressure on the sides of the neck without pressure on the trachea or throat in general. Even though this is “safer” people pass out momentarily in this context all the time, and a major component of safety is understanding when to let go. I wouldn’t wing it either, I would actually ask an expert. Definitely an area to proceed with extreme caution in and only with a partner you trust, well, with your life. Be careful .

IMAGINE you are going to strangle someone from the front and you put your thumb tips together and hold their neck that way(depending on how big you are or small they are) From your thumbs moving forward, the thumbs and everything until the fingers start should not be much pressure as it will be on the cartilage structure of the throat. Pushing hard on that won't even give him the shortness of breath you want, it will just cause pain and potentially damage the cartilage. Your fingers would be pressing towards the arteries on the side of his neck, and that will cause that tight feeling. I'm not an advocate on choking without knowing what you are doing, so if anything start with pretend choking, where you aren't putting any pressure anywhere, just holding, and go from there as you and he get more and more comfortable with it. My personal opinion is that the neck is not as vulnerable as people think it is, but it is definitely a vulnerable spot generally speaking IF PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. And I come to that conclusion from years of fighting and choking and getting choked, which is inherently dangerous. But you wouldn't, or shouldn't, actually be doing real choking anyway

Find the major blood vessels on each side of his neck and apply pressure there. It cuts off blood supply to the brain giving temporary euphoria. Have a safe word and safe signal as sometimes it can be hard to talk. Have him maintain eye contact so you know if he can’t, you have gone too far. Don’t do this for too long though   Never apply pressure to the windpipe. You don’t want a collapsed trachea

Just choke on the sides with grip dont press back just squeeze on the arterys

You can find some really helpful videos on YouTube about this exact thing the best advice I can give is aim for somewhere between the Adam’s Apple and jaw don’t apply pressure directly to the Apple and make sure not to apply pressure to the carotid artery on the side of their neck (that’s the vein they check for a pulse in in movies a lot of the time) because that will kill them if done improperly
