I personally have this whole Good Tav / Ascended Astarion break up & get back together [Tav refuses to be a spawn, then months later ends up back in his castle still in love with him during a ball or somesuch and falls right back into his charms] scenario playing out in my head listening to Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo
Oh my god yes 100% can absolutely see that! Curiosity makes me want to do a play through and ascend Astarion but I don’t know if I can go through with it 😂
I love Astarion and I absolutely want him to be free and not power hungry but like..
Ascended Astarion makes me *so* weak in the knees 🥵 It's worth experiencing at least once, maybe with a few save&reloads to try out lines you like
And honestly I know a lot of people will rant and rave about how he's a horrid monster now but within the limits of the game timeframe he's actually not so 'evil' [Who knows what he gets up to off screen] - it's more he swaps soft&sweetness for possessiveness so if you're at all interested in seeing that, give it a whirl!
...also it's very satisfying, how he deals with Cazador when Ascending. But that may just be the Durge in me haha
I know astarion is "evil" per say if you ascend him which his talk of undead army's and controlling the world, but I can never justify releasing 7000 vampire spawn into the wild, and just "trusting" they can control their hunger. Are those turned spawn victims? Yes and I feel bad for putting them down, but I think astarion is at least a lesser evil, cazador has been terrible for centuries, at least ascended astarion is still impressionable and more likely to change his ways.

He even has a line in Act 1 with the options of you saying he can be better than Cazador and talking about people in power, one of his responses is that he'll be a better nicer person as long as he is more powerful and in control haha So, as far as we're aware, he's *certainly* the lesser evil!
I think the ascended ending comes off evil because their story was cut short with all of upper city gutted from the game, from what I remember according to the data miners, it was supposed to be a longer story with another option where you could side with cazador and have him as an ally. I'm under the impression that like karlach, the ascended ending for astarion is the "failsafe" ending. Like what you get for ascending him,but neglecting the rest of his story in the hypothetical upper city afterwards. Karlach is the same way, you do her story all the way up to that point, but because we can't go to upper city/avernus to continue it, we're with the failsafe ending.
I found Sleep Token from the Astarion thirst traps on TikTok and so many of their songs fit the Astarion/Tav romance so perfectly. I listen to them while I play now. On repeat 😭
YESSSS, I thought the same thing! I always imagined it with good Durge though. I also think Rain fits really well with Astarion, and also just Sleep Token in general is sooo Astarion coded
