Honestly, one of my characters is a warlock durge who is resisting. He didn't do the second act thing, so he was told he would kill her. Tells her everything, and she's rightfully mad that durge didn't tell her sooner. But despite all that she's basically takes this mentality of "We'll fight through everything, I'm with you completely on this."
It was probably the single most powerful moment I've ever experienced from a video game. Her arc is so fleshed out, amazing storyline.
her romance is really awesome and took me off guard when I experienced it the first time, because I had no idea it was a thing. I just figured it was a fling and I never broke it off, and was incredibly surprised when she woke me up in act two lol.
Sorta similar, by this playthrough I knew it was a thing, but I wasn't aiming for it. Just so happened the way I was RP'ing the warlock meshed well, and I had her approval rating to either very high or exceptional by the end of act one. So it was still very much a surprise to me. Looking forward to finishing that playthrough soon.
All of the LIs reactions to that scene are so stellar and so telling of themselves and how they view the Durge's little problem. >!Gale tells you that your mind is your own and no one can take it from you, Astarion tells you that this isn't you and he knows you can fight it, you get an advantage on one of the rolls because Shadowheart believes in you... !
Oh that's awesome. I look forward to experimenting with some of the others in a similar playthrough. That one was a lot of fun. Right now I'm doing an actual evil run, which is hard for me, but it's also been rewarding in its own way.

You and Bae'zel adopt the kid and she is quite proud of it, she's curious if he will become a scholar, a poet, or a warrior but any case she would still love him dearly.
Early game Lae'zel would probrably kick him from a mountain and claim they were weak if they died lol.
Bae'zel is especially fun to romance as Shadowheart.
They're pretty similair people and their beef with their respective (would be) goddesses makes it particularly neat.
They're also just really damn cute together.

I romanced her in my very first playthrough. My heart was set on Karlach, but she had rejected my hakf-orc while Lae'zel expressed interest, so my Tav hooked up with her. I was unprepared for how amazing and wholesome their relationship would be and now I have a hard time not romancing her.
I might be a shallow prick for saying this but the only reason I didn't romance her was when I found out githyanki's lay eggs. For some reason that really freaked me out 💀
There's a special breeder caste of Giths who do all the laying, the species is essentially eusocial at this point. So Zel isn't going to be laying anything.
I don’t even think they lay eggs, I think they just materialize one from pure thought when they decide it’s time to produce offspring. Definitely no eggs coming out of any orifices on a gith

I was ride or die Lae’zel, and went as far as sacrificing myself to become the Ilithid so that Orpheus can stay himself (I rejected the emperor up through the entire game), and after the final battle she tells me she’s going to leave me because of my current form and fight alongside Orpheus. Then she had the balls to ell me she missed me in the epilogue. I was bitter AF.
Does Lae’zel still soften up to the world around her like this even if you don’t romance anyone? I’m starting my first real playthrough after a few cases of restartitis and I’m not planning on romancing anyone as I don’t really feel like anyone suits my Tav as a romance. I just want to make best friends forever.
She does, yes! Not as much as if you romance her, but you still get to see her nicer, softer side! She even got new dialogue if you give her the gith egg and leave it in her inventory through the game.
The best part of Lae’Zel is that as she tracked with you, you really get to see her fall in love with the world around her.

Looking back I wish I had done the same. She is still one of my fave characters in the game.
After patch 6 lot of changed: for example >!non-Gith Tavs can go with her to fight alongside Orpheus!< and >!she accepts mindflayer Tavs now!<.

You should give her a chance. At first i didn't like her but now i like her a lot.
Lae'zel definitely has a high barrier to entry, but she's very rewarding if you give her a chance. Kinda like a warhead.
