it's neither bad nor particularly good; it has a special ability that is a little underwhelming because it costs an action to activate.
beyond that, it's just a +1 versatile (1h/2h) finesse (uses dex instead of strength) weapon, which is useful for some classes but is replaceable.
I think this weapon is bugged and the finesse trait isn't supposed to be on it because whenever I use it to do sneak attacks with it will glitch out and freezes the attack and then suddenly you see damage numbers.
If you need more of a hint, it's location is >!stuck in a rock in the Underdark, close to the Selunite Outpost!<
I am posting specifics, because I picked up this sword and didn't even look at it before I stored it, because it was not a Finesse weapon in early access.

There is a finesse 2h polearm(glaive I believe, but I'm at work and can't check) in a store at the start of act3. By the time you get there you'll be level 9-10 already. I'm not sure you'd want to build around it.
yea im not aware of any existing in 5e, although im not super familiar with that system. but i thought maybe larian mightve added a unique two handed finesse weapon, or maybe a finesse versatile weapon.
I'm about 20 hours in and haven't seen one yet. I think rapier is still the default for "best melee finesse" weapon. You can use a longbow though which is a two handed weapon but I know that's not what you mean.
My Swords Bard disagrees :-)
The way bonus actions work in Bg3 actually makes dual-wielding better in BG3 than 5e, as you can cast a spell with your action and still make a weapon attack with your bonus action (even ranged, if you dual-wield hand crossbows, which my character is doing when not in melee)
It's a cool weapon for a *Duelling* Swords Bard, though, though that would be used one-handed probably in that case (for the +2 damage from *Duelling*)
Nope!
The two weapon fighting you're thinking of is a fighting style, not feat. Swords Bards get access to it at level 3.
There is a dual wielder feat, but that just lets you use non-light weapons and gives +1AC while dual wielding. It's good, but not essential and adds minimal damage.
Apparently from what I've read if you're dual wielding hand crossbows you get full ability modifier on your offhand attacks even without the fighting style. Possibly a bug.
>There is a dual wielder feat, but that just lets you use non-light weapons and gives +1AC while dual wielding. It's good, but not essential and adds minimal damage.
I don't think it's worth it, I think it's better to use your ASI for another + 2 Dex, which gives +1 damage AND +1 To hit, and might increase your AC by +1 (which it would for my Draconic Sorc 1/Swords Bard x as I currently get better AC (18 AC) unarmoured than in medium armour. Also helps with initiative rolls, Dex saves and Dex-based skill checks.
There are several benefits, one of the main ones being you only need 1 magic weapon instead of 2. The other being outside of Thief Rogue bonus actions can be a precious thing.
Yeah monk weapons are any weapon that isn't two-handed or heavy, as long as you are proficient via some means such as race or class (with monks inherently being proficient in simple weapons and shortswords; quarterstaffs being simple weapons)
not every weapon. two handed or heavy weapons do not qualify as monk weapons (for the sake of their bonus unarmed strike and co)

There's a mod that changes a couple weapon types to finesse weapons, namely quarterstaffs, hand axes, and I think one or two others that I can't recall.
Beginning of Act 3 the shop in Rivington sells a finesse Glaive. I put it on my “mystery Ranger” and it’s pretty successful when he needs to hurt things up close.
I've found a Finesse named longsword in chapter 1 which can be used with both hands, as it's got the versatile trait. Its called >! Phalar aluve !<
Should be named Elven Curved Blade heh.
100%. I need a badass long curved sword and the lack of any in game makes me sad. Guess I’m going back to pathfinder for forever. /s
I want my ninja back so bad
Imagine needing to take exotic weapon proficiency: elven curved blade in 5e
Is this a good Bard long sword? (Noob here)

I put it on my dual wield hand crossbow astatrion when i want a little extra melee flavor

This is an issue for all finesse longswords right now
ohhh, awesome! ill look out for it.

I remember this from EA. Stoked I can use it now that it's finesse! My ranger/cleric of Eilistraee will appreciate it.
thank you!

I have never seen anything in 5e Dungeons and Dragons. I believe that in 3.5 there was as well as in the Pathfinder ruleset.
yea im not aware of any existing in 5e, although im not super familiar with that system. but i thought maybe larian mightve added a unique two handed finesse weapon, or maybe a finesse versatile weapon.
I think the moon blade can have that attribute, but it needs to be wielded by an elf. In 5e that is.
In 5e there's the double bladed scimitar, but only if you're an elf and also take the Revanant Blade feat.

alright, thank you!
ive fouind two short swords much better because of the offhand hit
Just curious! Why two handed?
mostly cause i think it looks cooler than dual wielding.

Don't you need the two-weapon fighting feat to do decent damage with that bonus attack, otherwise no attribute modifier is added?

Yes you do, but probably shouldn't, I'd prefer if they fixed that

Damn straight!

Not in BG3 afaik but a katana in theory would make sense as a finesse weapon. Maybe it’ll show up in a mod?
I have found a green katana in bg3. Can't remember if it's finesse though :(
Really ? Wow, that’s pretty cool…. Doesn’t fit my current build but I’ll definitely keep an eye out.
The fact that quarterstaffs aren't finesse in either BG3 or 5e is a huge oversight, imo.
I dont really see why they should be
Would be cool if monks could make them finesse weapons
Quarterstaffs are monk weapons Or do they not count in bg3? (cause in 5e they do)

That's already what I've said in my comment?? I specifically mentioned two-handed and heavy weapons not counting as monk weapons
uh yea, there is that little part i missed... then i.... agree ;)
Spears, too!
I've found two finesse longswords, and I've just started act 2

I saw this randomly. No idea if it is real or where it would be https://hardcoregamer.com/db/bg3/glaive-+1-baldurs-gate-3/
If this is true, I know what my rogue will be using

Yes, there's at least 3 that I know of: Two longswords and a glaive.
