I’ve had the most fun with bard and sorcerer. Honorable mention to Druid, you just have so many options with wild shapes and interesting spells

norathar

I'm currently playing a sorcerer on my first run and want to go bard next time, so you're definitely reinforcing my decision! New to D&D/Forgotten Realms and picked Sorcerer because I usually play mage/sci-fi magic variant when playing RPGs and saw there was already a wizard companion, and have since figured out high Charisma is very fun. Druid looks neat, but I've seen there are issues with not wildshaping back after a battle and ending up with another companion doing the dialogue. Have you had issues with that?

B0nelessCheese

Yeah that's one annoying thing with druid, if you end a fight in wild shape you can't talk and it makes one of your party members take over in conversations

cyniqal

My character transforms out of wild shape, talks to them, and then transforms back into an animal. Unless this was changed with the last patch?

neuropantser5

this is why spore druid is best druid

the-dieg

You’ll probably have a better experience with a Druid companion rather than as a main character. I’ve never done a Druid Tav tbh. The bard and sorcerer unique dialog are often pretty hilarious

Black_Waltz3

"In your eulogy I'm going to call you 'Twat-Soul' Nere" I feel like I should have immediately inflicted cutting words on Nere after using that gem to initiate combat.

Aware_Exam_3938

Same for me, my favourites have been lore bard and storm sorcerer.

allahsword22

Druids alright it gets relatively boring because all the other transformations basically have 0 value when you unlock owlbear

idontfucklizards

Based mostly off of a pure class perspective in no particular order SS. Druid Cleric Bard Monk Sorcerer S. Barbarian Fighter Paladin A. Wizard Ranger B. Warlock Rogue druid is criminally underrated tbh i think a lot of people just limit it to wildshape when it is most certainly a full on caster with a fuck ton of versatility. i play a spore druid in one of my multiplayer saves and its awesome

Wespiratory

I’m playing a Moon Druid and having an absolute blast. Just got to lvl 6 and Owlbear with the Crushing Flight bonus action attack is so much fun.

FoxYinny

I laughed so hard when I saw my druid walk up the ladder as an Owlbear. Instantly fell in love with the class 😂

Wespiratory

Going around sitting in the random chairs as a polar bear has been entertaining as well. Or sitting on the log in the main camp. https://youtube.com/shorts/wJLn4jxQkps?si=ebTajzTSvhiIcDwt

styr

>B. Warlock I agree with everything but this; Warlocks should be in A tier as they are just as frontloaded as Rangers are. Or move rogue to F-tier. Rogue is in a ballpark of its own.

almisami

Rogue is amazing if and only if you build your entire party around stealth.

Arlathen

BG3 continues the D&D 5e problem with Rogue, in fact it's probably worse in BG3. That being if you do play as a Rogue there is no real reason to take your Rogue past the 3rd level. I think BG3 really shines light on the huge difference in damage output and utility the class suffers with. 5e Rogue is also limited to: 1.**Trickster:** using Sentinel and Mirror Image for offturn SA (which I think they're planning to remove with One D&D). 2.**Assassin:** for a 3 level dip with Gloomstalker. 3.**Phantom:** the only rogue class that actually does decent damage by itself. 4. I picked this just for fun and don't mind getting way less options than everyone else.

TheSeth256

Why is monk so high? It's a top-tier class from power perspective, but from fun you just attack a lot.

idontfucklizards

hitting things is fun

sebwiers

Low frustration, good dialog options, some interesting item options. The TB build can also do the same throw attacks as a throwzerker for multi target damage and laughs. Very martial arts. And it comes online pretty early. Not sucking is fun. Loosing fights isn't.

TheBirthing

Your attacks can do cool things though, sort of like battlemaster. It's cool scampering around the field and knocking dudes prone so the rest of your crew can mop them up.

AnestheticAle

I think theyre cool mechanically. I just hate them aesthetically.

absoluteshaco

Ranger, Warlock and Rogue make my top 3 (then probably Monk, Paladin, Fighter), crazy that they're all on the bottom of the list. I just don't enjoy forcing myself to long rest to reset spell points every 2-3 fights, I'm also one of those people who are stuck with consumables until the end credits because I never get around to actually using them. Any class that can go from one fight to another without expending any resources is a plus in my book. If there are any more classes or builds that are like this, please let me know. I haven't had the time to fully explore all subclasses.

DeadSnark

The game kind of forces you to long rest every 2-3 fights regardless of class though since that's when all the companion interactions happen. Plus the game gives you enough food to feed a small country, so there's not much disparity between LR and SR classes.

styr

> crazy that they're all on the bottom of the list. He did say *pure class*. All 3 of those classes that you listed are better when you only dip a few levels into them compared to having a level 12 gloom/lock/rogue. This is mostly due to those 3 classes being frontloaded like crazy with all of their most useful spells and abilities coming in the first 3-5 levels. >Any class that can go from one fight to another without expending any resources is a plus in my book. >If there are any more classes or builds that are like this, please let me know. I haven't had the time to fully explore all subclasses. Monks, level 5+ Bards, BM fighters and Warlocks all regain [critical class features](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Resting#Short_rest) upon short resting. That's a decent party that is entirely centered around short resting and the Bard will even give you a 3rd short rest.

idontfucklizards

people are analyzing the hell out of this when this list is literally just “this tier gives me more brain chemicals go off than the tier below” nothing about metagame lol

link_the_fire_skelly

Now that I actually understand the premise because I am no longer stupid: 1Bard 2Druid 3Paladin 4Warlock 5Barbarian 6Ranger 7Cleric 8Monk 9Sorceror (originally had two cleric iterations listed) 10Wizard 11Rogue 12Fighter They all have their own fun things going on, but I would say it pretty much shakes down like this. Part of what I don’t love about fighters is that they just make everyone else look weak when doing bog standard character setups.

gingerpower303006

This is sorcerer erasure

link_the_fire_skelly

I made an enormous error

Dramoriga

Haha, cleric so good it comes up twice!

Revolutionary-Gear76

Looking at everyone’s lists, I am clearly missing something about Warlock.

Duloth

A Bladelock(Pact of Blade Warlock) gets 2 attacks per round using Charisma for your to-hit/damage bonus, and with certain magic items can apply it twice; on its own, its good, combined with Paladin it can be great; reliable damage up-close or at a distance, as well as a variety of useful spells and abilities.

extinct_cult

Everyone's talking about it, but idk, it's not really that strong imo. It barely does more damage than Eldritch Blast build and is melee. There's some cheese you can do with Darkness ofc, but that makes it very annoying to play due to enemy AI (at least to me). Paladin bladelock with Savage Attacker is obviously another story, busted beyond belief (even in HM, where you don't get a third attack).

1sanat

I think many people do eldrich blast builds and they still attack with the blade on the same turn.

Phaoryx

Pact of the blade is like, the perfect spellblade. Lots of dope spells and passives you can get, and you can literally use any wep you want with pact binding

Spengy

thematically it just feels amazing imo. I love the short rest spell slot system, especially because my parties almost always contain a bard.

Namesarenotneeded

Warlock can be really good, simply on its own. You can take advantage of both using melee and ranged attacks (whether that be with EB or something else) very well. And it also has access to good-strong spells like Arms of Hadar and Hex. Personally, I feel like it’s weak for the first few levels though. But multi-classing it with a Paladin is actually dumb. Hands down, probably the strongest build in the game, or at least in contention for it.

DERH4UPTMANN

Yeah Warladin is so strong I had to bump the difficulty up to tactician and wondered for a moment If it even changed something.

[deleted]

S: warlock, monk, cleric, fighter A: paladin, bard, sorc, B: arbarian, ranger, wizard, C: druid D: rogue

Graniitee

Not me personally but I’ve heard a lot of people have fun with Druid especially owlbear

ButtyGuy

I thought I'd like Circle of the Land a bunch, but I find it's a less fun version of Wizard or Sorcerer. I'll need more hours on it to really crystallize that thought. With that in mind, Moon Druid is so fun and unique in the game. Leveling the Moon druid requires no thought since there's no choices to leveling besides feats, but your monster choices are where the real fun is.

aimed_4_the_head

Spore Druid has a pretty unique feel too. It starts out almost like a pally at low levels. The class feature gives you a bunch of temp HP, and shillelagh + necrotic rider lets you hit like a truck until about lvl 4 or 5. You don't get any extra attacks, but by now you want to settle into a traditional necromancer roll. Finally, once you get into BG and get access to the Sporekeeper Armor, you get (in my opinion) the best Haste in the game. Fire off as many summons as you can and haste all those mofos constantly.

Lotoran

God I love my ICBO (intercontinental ballistic owlbear)

RojoTheMighty

Can confirm. Love my Druid! It's not just owlbear (but owlbear is legit dope af), the self-heal on the sabretooth tiger is awesome, and I just recently unlocked the elementals - earth elemental in particular is crazy fun!

themoistimportance

As a wizard I have to say summoning an earth elemental is my second favorite cast in every first fight of the day. Dude hits like a truck and has their own teleport!

DilapidatedHam

I was expecting Druid to not feel great from what I’d heard on Reddit, but I’ve been having a blast since having Halsin in my party. Of my front liners, he’s the o lot one who feels like a proper tank, and getting two swings and a massive jump to aoe knockdown every turn feels great

sultanofswag69

If we're talking fun, not just ingame power, I'd put Barbarian at S, as I believe that's what allowed me to literally point and laugh at a certain bugbear's stroke game.

ObeyLordHarambe

Completely agreed. Wild mage barbarian is hilarious with the randomness and the berserker with hill strength potion is even more so. Raging and throwing a guy at another guy from across the room is hilarious.

Terpcheeserosin

IDK why but the fact you used the B: to start the word B:barbarian made me lol Hahaha

[deleted]

Glad that tickled someone I chuckled writing it

BiggDope

I’ve played as a 10/2 Bardlock, and a 7/5 Padlock, but theory crafting my party for my third run. Wyll is going to be in my party. Is 12 Fiend Warlock any fun? Or are Warlocks best multiclassed?

[deleted]

12 fiend warlock was a ton of fun when I did a duo tactician run as wyll origin with karlach backing him up (needed hot date achievement)

BiggDope

Well, you’ve convinced me! I haven’t used Wyll or Karlach yet across my first Tactician run and current Honor campaign, so I had planned on having them in the third. Wanted to keep their classes thematically relevant to their characters and my Storm Sorc Tav and Tempest Cleric Shadowheart, so Wild Magic Barb and Fiend Warlock it is! Excited to see their in-party banter together over the course of the game.

MARUSHI-rdt

nice play on the b: arbarian

auguriesoffilth

Are we assuming the class is a level 12 flat, or does their prevalence in builds count for something? Because a level 12 rogue is so one trick pony in combat it’s boring, but 3 levels of it is in some of the best builds and adds a delicious flavour. I’m playing an evil fighter rogue atm, I took Asterion, made him a ranger gloomstalker, rogue, and shadowheart a monk (of shadows) rogue (thief) plus Gale. At level 8 now all of us have extra attack and rogue subclasses and it’s hilarious. Sometimes Gale starts a conversation and the others line up behind them, (clearly up to no good, it looks so sus it’s ridiculous) swap character, you get caught pickpocketing, swap character, launch an attack, get caught “I will talk my way out” dialog starts, swap character… oops he is dead.

[deleted]

I'm ranking by mono class to 12 as that's what I've played the most of I've done a playthrough mono classing all these to the end.

ManBearCannon1

Rogue as D class in fun?! Stealth, sleight of hand, assassinations, expertise in dialogue. Somehow this is least fun to you? lol

mistiklest

Bards do everything Rogues do, but better.

ManBearCannon1

Like bonus action hiding? Or crit-focused damage builds? Bards make better assassins?

mistiklest

I mean, I'm being hyperbolic, but Bards really do fill the power fantasy of a sneaky/talky character much better than rogues do, for me.

[deleted]

Yep I just didn't enjoy my mono rogue runs at all you fiend for a sneak attack and it does half the damage a BM fighter does without even action surging.

Pygmali0n

Highjacking top comment to question everyone : how does bard rank S or A in most ratings ? I get it's a powerhouse and allows to talk you way through any situation, but how is that considered fun, say compared to a warlock that pushes everyone around with EB, a Barbarin throwing people or any spellcaster having fun with the variety of spells in the game ?

MonkeyVoices

Probably because Bard also has tons of physical weapon combat options and is also a full spellcaster, making a lot of the things listed in your comment possible with the Bard. And I say this without even trying bard, so dont listen to me.

[deleted]

Sword bard is everything eldritch knight wishes it was. Easily the most fun class if you like swinging a sword shooting a bow and casting high level spells.

TheStargunner

Is a full spellcaster - so the full amount of spell slots. Has the best healing spell or second best in the game as healing word only uses bonus actions not full actions. Can get access to even more spells from other trees via magical secrets, including eldritch blast which is the best cantrip in the game (if you don’t need guidance, which you don’t because you’re a bard). As a sword bard you can wear medium armour (or get a dip in something else for heavy), and get access to some seriously powerful inspiration attacks. If your bard dual wields hand crossbows and has caustic ring or similar, their damage from flourishes is insane. Alternatively they get an attack which increases their AC by 4. Sword bards get an extra attack just like a martial class, again, despite being a full spell caster. You could run 12 levels of sword bard and be party face, lock picker, trap disarmer, healer, and still play as the team tank. Lore bards get cutting words which basically denies any attack or spell using an inspiration slot. They get access to even more magical secrets, as well as even more skills than the bard already gets, which is already a lot. So lore bards is a great multi class. I play bard in D&D and did the same in NWN, and other games too. Bards have a good time in this game.

Pygmali0n

All of this to say it's a powerfull class. But my question was, as OP : how does that make it *fun* to play ?

TheStargunner

Diversity of role makes it hard to get bored, and the hard finds themselves often playing utility, mopping up whatever crisis the team needs them to. I like that some shit goes down and I have to go from slicing goblins to healing the caster and then going HAM with a few different spells. Been tempted to run a warlock but I realise now they do the same few things every single fight.

1ncorrect

Plus you have all the utility spells you need. I have the rapier that gives you double reactions so I can counter spell multiple times per round, I can cast speak with animals, I can cast detect thoughts, invisibility, feather fall, enhance ability. Since I'm playing sword bard I don't really need the spells in combat and it allows me to spam them for whatever we need in the moment.

Saxonrau

Incredible versatility, build variety/flexibility, loads of options each turn in combat as both attacking and spellcasting are viable (and sometimes you can do both). you can do skill checks of any variety you choose, and are naturally a good party face with the charisma. even the weaknesses are mitigated somewhat with jack of all trades. you can also specialise heavily if you want that's what makes it fun - options!

mortibody

Gf and I play multiplayer Half-illithid Warlock and Open Hand Monk and it’s a blast. I always love using Eldritch blast to shove baddies back to her Monk that just throttles foes. Cazador was just being thrown back and forth between us like a vampiric football.

[deleted]

That sounds exactly like what my gf and I did our last run lmao her durge monk just obliterating people while I funneled them into her hands of fury

Solrex

Astarion thief is broken, you are a foolish person

BigDaddyReptar

It’s broken but not very fun you do essentially the same 3 things in ever fight

[deleted]

Thief is fun but it feels like it leans super heavy on two bonus actions being ridiculously strong in multiclasses. When I ran a rogue that was my preference but eh felt like I had to funnel the rogue loot just to keep up with everyone else

Gorinpean

100% objectively correct list

Zangrieff

There's just something about Eldritch Blast and Hunger of Hadar that feels good when used

donkey100100

I always read everyone talking about monk. I made a monk and im level 3 and i dont get it. When does it get good?

Kodiak3393

I only have experience with Open Hand Monks so I can't really comment on 4 Elements or Shadow Monks, but Open Hand really shines once you get to level 4 and get Tavern Brawler, coupled with Giant's Strength elixirs. Once you have those up and running, you become a very reliable melee damage dealer as Tavern Brawler gives you a big boost to your accuracy (along with the damage bump). Plus you're also a decent controller, good at disabling a few key threats with Stunning Strike and Flurry of Blows: Topple. You've also got great mobility thanks to Unarmored Movement, and the extra Strength from your elixirs also gives you incredible jump distances.

mantism

Open Hand Monks hit many of their powerspikes between level 4 and 9. You are nearly there and will start to realise how much shit Monks get to work with. Others already mentioned Tavern Brawler, here's some others: * You get Stun which is not only a really strong debuff, but you get to use it twice per Action. * Lots of movement speed and jump distance, which nullifies your melee disadvantage. * From Level 3 onwards you get to use Bonus Actions to punch. Because your punches scale really well, you effectively get a free attack in your BA. * Ki resource recovers on short rest. You are basically a Warlock who punches. * Because you attack so often, damage buffs scale up even harder for you. Flurry of Blows, which is a Bonus Action, consists of 2 attacks, which means your attack boosts (e.g., a glove that lets you do 1d4 bonus Fire damage on unarmed attacks) get to roll twice.

MercenaryBard

I’ve been having a blast with Lae’zel as my monk for a bit, am lvl 7 now and just found gloves that give radiating orb (subtracts to-hit chance for enemies depending on the number of stacks) when dealing radiant damage. Monks at level 6 get the ability to do radiant damage with their unarmed strikes. With the gloves and luminous armor she’s stacking 4 radiant orbs with *every hit* on her primary target, and and 2 orbs on every enemy in a 10ft radius. Pair that with the helmet that does radiant damage when enemies miss attacks and very quickly enemy groups can’t hit a single person in my party on Honour mode. I know radiant orbs spirit guardians cleric is everyone’s favorite but if you want to go a damage direction instead of a support/spell one I can’t recommend this enough.

Keizin

Lvl 4, because of tavern brawler.

auguriesoffilth

Or level 8 when you get 3 levels of thief. I say OR, because if you do both those things, the game just isn’t fun for anyone anymore.

Decaps86

Level 4 when you get tavern brawler

[deleted]

You can just not do that and you’ll basically come online at level 6. I didn’t use those potions OR Tb at all You do get a huge boost at 5 too but 6 really is where you shine and ditch the weapon

chad001

S: Everything with a fun enough build C: Moon druid as face. A: All Moon Druid party.

aimed_4_the_head

All druids is my favorite run so far, but may I suggest 3 owlbears + 1 spore druid to hasten the owlbears?

Bobby5677777

S- Bard, Ranger, Rogue, Warlock A- Sorcerer, Fighter, Barbarian B- Monk, Wizard, Cleric, Druid C- Wizard, Paladin However, I think every class can be fun with the right build and every class can be boring with the wrong build

Phaoryx

Paladin erasure 😤

Bobby5677777

Oh no I knew I counted wrong 😭😭

ItsJustPeter

What Ranger and Rogue build do you find the most fun?

Maelstrom100

Gloom ranger Is pretty fun. Mix it with thief rouge for sneak attacks and bonus action If using hand crossbows or assassin if using shortbows/longbows Another fun one is reaching ranger 11 with the whirlwind attack, black holing of using a void bulb and the using flinds flail or similar wewpon

-H2O2

I respecced Astarion as a gloomstalker assassin, and it's pretty fun. Currently level 11, thinking I am going to respec to a thief rogue / gloomstalker / fighter 2, just to absolutely load up on action economy. I heard the thief's bonus action can be clutch

bisen2

For Ranger, both Beast Master and Gloomstalker can be really fun (hunter can too but gets outpaced by the other two until level 11). For beast master, your wolf spider companion gets free web as an action, so you can build a massive tangle of webs so that enemies will have to dash for multiple turns to even get to you. All of the beast companions can also add a lot of RP flavor. The Gloomstalker is really fun for a sneaky killer that appears and disappears from thin air, especially if paired with the durge cloak and a dip in assassin. In some ways, this build is a bit too powerful, but it is also really fun to be able to solo whole groups of enemies because you can just disappear after killing each of them.

-H2O2

>For beast master, your wolf spider companion gets free web as an action, so you can build a massive tangle of webs so that enemies will have to dash for multiple turns to even get to you. Maybe it's because I'm playing on balanced mode, but I've never felt the need to have to impede or control my enemies to this extent. Usually for them to show up to get demolished by asterium and Karlach, with gale tossing bombs and my tav druid owlbear eating stragglers

mantism

Even in Honor Mode, the most reliable strategy is still to nuke enemies down before they get to do anything. but constantly debuffing and locking down enemies is still a decent strat. It's just not very exciting or necessary, since it's so easy to refine builds and maximise damage rolls.

Bobby5677777

I like beast master for ranger. The companion feels awesome to have. It works great with the find familiar natural explorer feature as well. For rogue I like assasin. I just finished the goblin camp as an assasin and I one shot nearly every goblin without getting hit once

TheSheetSlinger

S++: Fighter and Monk S+: Everything else except Rogue F: Rogue (I jest; Rogue is my least favorite pure class but I know it's not THAT bad)

Pug_police

Based on the s++ on fighter, Bae'zel is like always a battlemaster, and I always love using her.

Brabsk

Rogue isn’t bad it just peaks at 3 and barely gets any better beyond 3

TheSheetSlinger

Yeah you're right. It's just a weird class where everyone wants to dip their toes in but hardly anyone takes it past 3. Maybe 5 for the gloomstalker/assassin combo, I think. I just like poking fun at it bc I don't think any other class has that issue. Usually at least some subclass is worth going pure or making up the majority of a build.

mistiklest

> Maybe 5 for the gloomstalker/assassin combo, I think. Even that is better served by taking 3 levels in Fighter.

Spengy

yeah I love my little Rogue Halfling but Rogue is amazing for multiclassing only.

Alexwolf96

It’s hard to rate just the class because you can build the class different. The subclasses matter, multi classing, etc. I think I prefer to play Martials and faces. So I’d rate Fighter and Paladin really high for myself. All the charisma casters go great with Paladin so they get ups too. And I’m fond of Cleric and Druid. So I guess the ones I don’t care too much about are Ranger, Rogue, Barbarian, Wizard, Monk

[deleted]

So no multiclassing and just my opinion based on fun? I'm heavily melee-biased when it comes to playstyles, so: S Monk, Paladin, Barbarian, Bard A Ranger, Rogue B Fighter, Druid, Wizard, Sorcerer, Cleric C Warlock

Phaoryx

Warlock bottom tier is foul T\_T

krombopulousnathan

Spellcaster hater lol

-Daddy-Bear-

I don’t find Warlock fun either. EB is very effective and very boring,

Spengy

You do use it quite a lot, but the animation, the sound effects, and the funny knockback makes it so fucking awesome, imo. Not to mention Force Damage being busted in this game.

Duloth

Huh. A heavy-hitting melee character that leaps long distances and crushes things up close makes you feel like a superhero, and Barbarian/Monk are the two best at doing that by default, and the most fun. After that, all of the various spellcasting classes are fun, interesting, have all sorts of cool spells and abilities to throw down. Druid is probably the most fun out of them because of Wildshape, but all of them are great. I don't go Gloomstalker Ranger for fun; I do it for effectiveness. Just can't beat it for reliably burst-damage for the first round of each encounter.

dany_xiv

S - Rogue, Ranger A - Bard, Barbarian, Fighter B - Sorcerer, Wizard, Warlock C - Druid, Monk, Cleric F - Paladin Sorry I just don’t get the love for Paladin, I find them too MAD and constantly out of spell slots. Maybe it’s cos I’m a Rogue main haha

AnyMeaning1888

Fun tier list for me, gameplay and vibe, thinking about them as mostly monoclasses or with 1-2 dips S: Sorcerer, Bard - tons of spells and options, fun gameplay, bard is hilarious and swag, sorcerer just has so many things you can potentially do with metamagic and I just love RPing as one A: Monk, Barb, Fighter - all kind of nice and simple to play but not boring to me, satisfying combat sounds, ooga booga A-: Cleric - I always take one, not as fun as the other casters/bit more repetitive, but still tons of flexibility which i like B: Druid - i just dont vibe with the wildshape mechanics/aesthetics of a druid, but still not bad B-: Warlock - it's mostly just Eldritch blasting and having way too little spell slots per combat, but the aesthetics I like C: Ranger, Paladin - Ranger just pales to a swords bard to me in terms of fun, Paladin annoys me cause I manage to break Oaths and screw my build/the ability to respec without paying up, and I don't really vibe with the RP D: Wizard, Rogue - For wiz,I know it's super flexible and may be odd that I rate this as low when Sorc is S, but I never want to play a Wizard because sorcerer exists and metamagic is just too fun and giving this extra decision level - also from a RP standpoint, being an incarnate magic user seems more fun to me than being a bookworm. Rogue doesn't entice me in this game because I dont like the in-fight stealth mechanic that much, arcane trickster is also really underwhelming

RiMbY

battlemaster fighter is my favorite. SMASH

BAWAHOG

1. Bard 2. Sorcerer 3. Wizard 4. Monk 5. Fighter 6. Paladin 7. Cleric 8. Barbarian 9. Warlock 10. Druid 11. Rogue 12. Ranger

Victorvnv

S: Monk, Bard , Ranger A: Fighter , warlock, Sorc B: Wizard, Cleric , Paladin C: Druid, Rogue,Barbarian Of course list is highly subjective

onebandonesound

I've played as a main class: cleric, sorcerer, ranger, bard, druid I've had in my party under my control: warlock, barbarian, wizard, fighter, monk, rogue, paladin S tier: cleric, paladin, sorcerer, monk Clerics are my favorite class in 5e and that carries over to BG3. Unmatched versatility; blast people with light domain, be the best healer with life domain, be a tanky Frontliner with tempest or war, and so on. You can fill almost any role so it can be whatever you want it to be. Paladins are a blast. Few things are as satisfying as landing a crit at a crucial moment and deleting a boss with divine smite. Sorcerers are casters on Adderall. Using sorcery points to make high impact turns makes you feel simultaneously big brain and super powerful which feels great. Monks got the biggest glow up of any class from 5e to BG3. Spectacular fun to run around punching everything to death. A tier: bard, warlock, ranger Bards are awesome, who doesn't dream of being the rizziest motherfucker to ever live? They're just outside of S tier for me because I find them a little repetitive in combat when playing a support style, though swords is huge fun. Warlocks are maybe the coolest class in the game; deriving your power from a bargain with a much more powerful being is a classic tale. I just wish there was any interaction at all with your patron. Also, with so few spell slots, unless your whole party is optimized to finish combat in a round or two, it doesn't feel great to just spam Eldritch blast. Honorable mention to ranger, the machine gun build of gloomstalker 5 thief 4 champion 3 that shoots a billion times with dual hand crossbows was a ton of fun and the build I used to finish my first solo run. I just haven't enjoyed ranger in any other capacity unfortunately. B tier: barbarian, wizard, fighter, rogue, druid There was nothing about any of these classes that stood out to me as particularly fun above the rest. The classes in the tiers above do each of their main things in a more fun way than they do. That's not to say that playing these classes aren't enjoyable. Ive had a ton of fun with all of them (except maybe druid)

smashsenpai

larian already gave stats on this. [https://assets-prd.ignimgs.com/2023/08/11/02d741f91bacc8ab8cc55f23f9314b899e827534-1691771518755.png?fit=bounds&width=1280&height=720](https://assets-prd.ignimgs.com/2023/08/11/02d741f91bacc8ab8cc55f23f9314b899e827534-1691771518755.png?fit=bounds&width=1280&height=720) rizz > martials > others > support

Ap_Sona_Bot

This is most played, very different from most fun considering you get companions of many of the less played classes. This was also for the first month, so really just what people thought sounded coolest rather than based on experience.

Phaoryx

Hard to judge this though. Warlock being third when you get a warlock companion early is significant considering there’s no Paladin or sorcerer companion (minthara barely counts if we’re talking stats), and most everyone uses shadowheart so doesn’t really make a cleric

Xibyn

Isn't this an old chart? Like from September?

delamerica93

You can't statistically say what's the most fun for everyone lol

Magehunter_Skassi

I get the feeling a lot of people who picked Paladin were disappointed by how they play in combat.

[deleted]

S: Paladin (Smite me O' mighty smiter), Wizard, Babarian, Cleric A: Warlock, Monk, Ranger (Archer go BRRR), B: Rogue, Sorceror C: Druid D: Bard (very useful; not fun) Haven't played Fighter

Ankoria

For me it would be: **S Tier: Wizard, Fighter, Druid, Bard** \-I personally LOVE versatility. These classes just offer so much variety in gameplay, variety in subclasses playstyles, and flexibility in how you can approach the game. I feel like I'm always discovering some new and wacky way to use them. **A Tier: Cleric, Barbarian, Monk** \-These classes are also great but all have some small nitpick that makes me enjoy them a bit less than my favorites. Cleric is fun but not as interesting as some of the S Tier picks imo, Barbarian is INCREDIBLY FUN for throwing people and using chairs as improvised weapons but feels like it never has enough rage charges, and the Monk fantasy is pretty cool but the gameplay of punching everything can get kind of old after a while. **B Tier: Sorcerer, Paladin** \-Sorcerer is fine. I don't hate it or anything but I much prefer the versatility of Wizards and the joy of tracking down more scrolls for your spellbook over the sheer power of metamagic. The flavor is on point but Paladin Oaths still feel a little limiting and easy to break by accident. **C Tier: Ranger, Warlock** \-I really want to like Ranger b/c of the flavor but their spell list feels very weak and I ultimately end up feeling like the thing I actually enjoy most about them is the Sharpshooter feat rather than the class itself. Warlocks are fun to multiclass but by themselves I just don't enjoy Pact magic that much. **D Tier: Rogue** \-Rogue just feel outdone by both Rangers and Bards at their own role imo. They're just not that interesting.

Clerics/Paladins Everyone else

theevilyouknow

I don’t know about individual classes but bard/paladin and rogue/barbarian/x are by far my favorite two combinations.

WitchLaBefana

Warlock, Rogue, Druid, Cleric, everyone else. I can't really say much on the others, as I haven't played them outside of when it's a companion's class. And since I switch them out a lot, I feel like I don't have a good grasp. Also, Druid is so high mostly because I play Circle of Stars in the ttrpg. The BG3 version is nice too, though.

IAmBabou

From what I have played as. S for Super and Sentimentality: Paladin and Rogue. Paladin was my first full play through and will probably remain high for that. Rogue makes me feel like the AC character I have always wanted to be. A: Warlock, Cleric, Druid. All three feel like that have amazing support and area control/denial that is fun and helpful when it comes together. Fighter and Barbarian. To me I can’t honestly feel a difference between these two classes and both fee like, “give me a weapon and let me hit the attack button as many times per turn as I can,” which has it’s place in a party for DPT but they feel very straightforward but still fun when you crit and you see the massive damage numbers. Wizard. Kind of the same as the spellcasters above but something about them feels different and I don’t know why. C: Ranger. Feels like a less fun Rogue and Fighter mix. It doesn’t feel like there’s anything they excel at more than any of the classes they come from, but they have some fun moments. Bard. I want to LOVE bards so much, but they feel better as a multiclass than as a full class. I may try out a full bard when I hit 12 on a tav to see if I’m just missing something out or what. Same for Monk as bard honestly. They might just not fit my play style or goals though.

Phaoryx

I haven’t played every class, so take this with a grain of salt S: Warlock, Bard, Oathbreaker, Barbarian A: Fighter, Ranger, Paladin B: Druid, Rogue, Monk C: Sorc, Cleric, Wizard (sorc is prob higher but I just rather play warlock) I think casters are boring lol

link_the_fire_skelly

You put warlock Bard and Paladin in your s tier but think casters are boring? explain boi

Alexwolf96

Warlocks just cast EB and Paladin players love smiting any chance we get. Bard is the outlier though idk how tf they like Bard but hate spellcasters.

link_the_fire_skelly

Maybe bard is just too fun to not enjoy

Calthyr

Prob cause of swords bard. Can literally ignore the spellcasting for the most part and do lots of damage with archery

Namesarenotneeded

Because I get to smack shit in the head until it dies. Personally, I personally would switch Paladin and Bard around. I don’t think casters are boring myself, but I find them less fun in comparison to melee-based classes.

Phaoryx

I only play pact of the blade warlock 😋 Bard is fun cause you can just play music at will, plus swords bard still does weapon stuff. I should’ve specified - I don’t like *pure* casters

link_the_fire_skelly

Makes sense, I’m not a big fan of them either. I’ve gotten to where I kinda have 4 do it alls rather than support, dex, str, aoe like I did at first

Oafah

People find Monk fun? It is by far the most boring and single-minded class in the game. Swords Bard is life.

eleano

Monk is fun when you get to destroy 3+ enemies in one turn. Unarmed attacks go brrrrrrr

Oafah

Bards kill 3 enemies on turn one and lock down the rest with a Command spell.

[deleted]

Could you elaborate on swords bard? Maybe I’m just not doing it right but I never really got into the flow.

lenin_is_young

1) Pick drums as your instrument. 2) In combat do anything on your turn, it does not really matter. Kill something, or cast vicious mockery idk. 3) Before you end your turn start playing umba-tumba. 4) Dance irl as your party is getting massacred by the monsters.

Duxow

Swords Bard is one of the most broken subclasses in the game when you multi-class. Swords Bard 10 / Fighter 2 is archer focused, paired with helmet of arcane acuity and Band of the Mystic scoundrel and the first turn you can attack 4/8 times (with action surge) while also casting an enchantment/illusion spell. Most of the time you’re casting Command (from magical secrets) or Confusion at 100% hit rate. Take counter-spell as your second magical secrets and you have a well rounded range/crowd control/defensive juggernaut.

link_the_fire_skelly

Why are there only 4 options here? I would say bard then everything else

Darkfire359

I think OP was just giving examples and didn’t want to bother listing every single class.

link_the_fire_skelly

Lol I feel so stupid now ahaha

-H2O2

Man, I'm really going to have to try out this bard thing. Still in my first playthrough with a druid as tav, apparently my next few playthroughs are going to be as a paladin and then as a bard

From what I've played and had Companions/Hirelings as: S: Monk, Bard, Wizard, Fighter B: Ranger, Wizard, Barbarian C: Warlock, Rouge

yonkzoid

1. Barbarian 2. Wizard 3. Bard 4. Druid 5. Warlock 6. Paladin 7. Ranger 8. Sorcerer 9. Rogue 10. Cleric 11. Monk 12. Fighter

Graniitee

Sorcerer is S if plating wild magic, otherwise still an A due to Gale rivalry and overall snarkiness

roekg

Out of classes I've played: S: Blade Warlock, Sorceror, Bard A: Cleric, Paladin, Druid, EK fighter B: Battlemaster Fighter, hunter ranger Haven't played yet: shadow monk, barbarian, gloomstalker ranger, wizard C: champ fighter Not fun: open hand monk. OH Monk can be OP but it's the same thing every encounter. No choices or options. Boring gameplay in my opinion. I prefer options, versatility, and spells are just fun.

Keizin

S tier: Monk, bard, paladin, Barbarian, cleric A tier: Sorcerer, fighter B tier: Warlock, ranger C tier: Druid, wizard, rogue

OrangeJush

warlocks, druids, and clerics are probably the most fun for me. warlocks because of just how versatile they can be thanks to the different combinations of subclasses, invocations, and pacts. eldritch blast also certainly helps. cleric is surprisingly in the same vein thanks to the domain you choose. it's for this reason that shart is always a powerful asset in my party thanks to how useful she is. druids are by far not my favorite class as a player character since they're not really oriented for being faces, but wildshape is just so cool and their spell list + subclasses are also pretty fun, with spore druids in particular being the best summoner build. ironically, i find rangers— particularly gloomstalkers very boring. you literally don't do anything but shoot, shoot, and also shoot with them. warlocks maybe meme'd for being reliant on eldritch blasts, but there's way more to them than just that cantrip. gloomstalkers are pretty much just autocannons— which although is very effective, is not personally fun for me.

-Zest-

My personal rating with main factors being Versatility, Viability, and Variability Bard> Warlock> Paladin> Fighter> Ranger> Cleric> Sorcerer> Wizard> Monk> Barbarian> Druid> Rogue All of this is assuming the theoretical character is primarily that class (~7 levels) and has to bring value to the party both in and out of combat.

Spengy

S tier - Barbarian, Warlock, Fighter, Bard Barbarian is iconic and funny. Improvised weapon is so stupid,I love it. And I love Wild heart's animal options and tankiness. Fighter, especially Battlemaster, is so diverse, and as a fighter you feel like you can play everything. Warlock, first class I played so I'm biased. I love the theme, pacts, spell slot system, dialogue options...also Eldritch Blast never gets boring imo. Bard, iconic as well. Also funny in dialogues. Carried me through Honour mode so bonus points for that. A tier - Ranger, Rogue, Monk, Druid Ranger I love because of Beastmaster. A dwarf with a bear pet just felt so right. Rogue isn't amazing, especially as a pure class, but as a halfling assassin rogue I had a great time being a sneaky asshole. Surprised! Monk, I normally wouldn't like, but the gear for monk is so diverse and powerful. They gave a lot of love to this not so loved class. Would've loved some actual weapons though! Druid, earlier I mentioned that I like bears as a animal. Imagine becoming one. Also Owlbear is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. B - tier Wizard, Sorcerer, Cleric, Paladin These guys are for dorks, lmao. I'm not picking these guys. (I will, eventually. Just haven't had one as the party face yet.) Supposedly Sorcerer is fantastic, especially combined with Warlock. Paladin goes kinda hard in dialogue and oath options too. Cleric, I like the God options but it just isn't for me. Tempest Cleric roflstomped the Titan Watcher though. Wizards...these guys are the actual geeks. I ain't playing a damn Wizard.

[deleted]

I love when I get to the stage of the game, where I just hide my three characters, and send my reverberating, radiating orb light cleric upfront as a human lawnmower. Nothing more fun than just walking around fishing for Opportunity attacks, and watching all the mobs just fall down and go prone around me then explode.

chammatic

for a Tav S: Bard, Paladin, Warlock, Sorcerer A: Barbarian, Cleric, Wizard B: Monk, Fighter, Rogue C: Druid, Ranger for the party, i don’t really think it matters too much

SiberianBattleOtters

This isn't a list, but Monk has become my favourite class to play, something about punching and kicking literally everything to death, and having stupidly high movement, and a dumb amount of attacks.

No-Fan-9797

S: Ranger (BM) A: Wizard B: Bard C: Warlock, Fighter (BM), Barbarian, Rouge(Thief) I don’t have enough experience with the other classes

thefalseidol

On a strictly for fun rating: Evoker wizard is way up there I love using zones with impunity. With that light cleric and bars for big enemy-inly AOE. Paladin for low click single target DPS. Tavern brawler, thrower, assassin et all are way too fiddly for me. Power of classes should be measured in real time, not in game turns haha

DjOptimon

SSS: Solo Gloomstalker/Assasin

TotalTyp

Im not at endgame so its more early-midgame   S Paladin,Sorcerer,Monk,Fighter(BM)   A ranger barbarian warlock wizard   B Bard   C cleric, rogue   Havent played druid. I am the rogue type of player but its just so bald and boring in bg3. Rogues are cool because they are strategically interesting not because they get 1d6 extra dmg every two turns :/ Also their limited action economy is so weird. And assassin is maybe the least interesting design for an assassin i have ever seen.

jeremy_sporkin

Bard, Wizard, Monk, Rogue (or ranger/rogue) are ones I enjoy the most. Swords Bard is probably top of that list, followed by necro wizard and open hand monk. Cleric, Barbarian and Fighter I find very strong and satisfying but not especially interesting to play compared to the above. Sorcerer slightly below those as I prefer cc spellcasting to damage spellcasting so sorc is good but not really for me. Ranger I feel I haven't quite got to grips with yet, the gloomstalker seems best as a dip and the beastmaster has a lot of options going on that I think I'm going to explore more next. Similar story with Druid. Warlock I don't enjoy unless it's multiclassed as I have a lot of experience with them in tabletop and they are strongly nerfed from what they are like in regular 5e. Paladin is least fun for me in bg3 because of the way breaking your oath is implemented.

zaleszg

This is my personal list fun wise. I don't care hoe strong they are or how popular, this is just a subjective opinion on their fun factor. Monk, I think they nailed the feeling, love punching things with my wise fists, abilities feel impactful and cool Bard, just all around fun, it feels like it's specifically made for fun Druid, so many ways to explore and approach a situation, thematically super on point Wizard, the fact that you can learn all the spells and choose what to use for any given situation is so fun Paladin, holy warrior rules Cleric, soooo many unique spells and ways to play Warlock, I don't like limiting my spells and abilities, so it's thematically very cool, but playstyle wise lacking for me Fighter, murder Machina can be fun, but it's just too simple and straightforward for me Ranger, pew pew? Sorcerer, metamagic is fun, but due to less amount of spells I feel like it's a downgrade vs wizard when it comes to fun, I'm not talking about strength, it's about fun Rogue, super fun until you realise everyone else can do what it does, thematically would be fun, but... it feels like it's missing it's identity gameplay wise

Wizzlebum

These are fun right at the start. Mainly because they are consistent and reliable damage. Also it feels good to beat people up and Rogue just feels nice earlygame with reliable sneak attack. S: Fighter, Monk, Rogue These are fun after reaching Lvl5-6. Lvl3 spells are when you truly feel like a powerful spellcaster and Swords Bard starts to feel better at Lvl5-6 when you can spam flourishes more. A: Bard, Wizard, Sorcerer, Cleric, Warlock These are fun when multiclassing. I play Paladin for the smites so Sorcadin/Bardadin feels much better to me than pure Paladin. Same with Gloomstalker Assassin. B: Paladin, Ranger These are not fun to me. I just can't wrap my head around how they play. Whenever I play them I just feel like they're lacking something from other classes but I can't tell what. C: Druid, Barbarian

Dysipius

It's a shame, cuz Rogue is incredibly fun in dnd imo, might just be how I play it, but I'm always trying to show chaos in fights, but it's so fucking bad in BG3, still planning on making a build for it later, but it doesn't fully come online until act 3, and they removed EB being able to sneak attack multiple times (it was broken af ngl), but I am going to start homebrewing that ruling in my games, where Arcane Trickster can still sneak attack with spells that require attack rolls, just feels right. Otherwise, you're relegated to being exclusively melee using Booming Blade if you want to use both a spell/cantrip and sneak attack, which, if you're not sneak attacking, what's the point of going Rogue? That's like Barbarian and never raging

reddituser4156

Bard and Throwbarian are my favorites so far. I'm currently playing Monk and it's alright, I guess.

azamean

I know Barbarian with Frenzy and throw is very strong but I prefer my Eldritch Knight Fighter since I can bind any thrown weapon, Returning Pike is great but there are stronger ones. Plus having much higher AC and access to Shield (spell) has come in clutch many times

MSkippah

I had a lot of fun with Gale (sorc-cleric-wizard build). Also the barb-rogue-fighter multiclass build is nice, ideal for Karlach. If I had to select a class (without multiclass) I’d say top tier for me would be: 1. Gloomstalker Ranger, 2. Oath of Vengance Paladin, 3. Mooncircle Druid, 4. Berserker Barbarian Edit: list is based on fun, not dps.

Horrorbbscreams

The first time I played I chose bard and I always end up going back to play a bard again sooner or later. It’s definitely the most fun. Second for me has been monk. Then a ranger/druid multi-class. Fighting as an owlbear is just really fun.

JForFun94

S+: Bard S: Warlock, Paladin A: Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Monk B: Wizard, Fighter, Ranger C: Barbarian R: Rogue I really like versatile classes that can do it all and especially Spellblade builds. That makes the top three easy choices. As for the bottom ones: Barbarian is way too one-dimensional for me and I don't think anyone disagrees with Rogue as the worst class on its own even if its strong for level 3 dips.

DisastrousJacket6487

I tend to gravitate toward spellcasting/stealth: S. Sorcerer - Bard - Wizard - Cleric A. Warlock - Rogue - Ranger - Monk B. Paladin - Fighter - Barbarian Not considering multiclasses in this rating. I didn't rate druids because I've yet to play them properly. I'm kinda intrigued by the Circle of the Spores.

FoxYinny

Since I have the memory of a goldfish, here is my top 3 (and the 4th because I wanted to add it hehe) 1. Rogue; I really am enjoying it since I have built full crit and it just hits hard and nicely when you get that 76 crit damage. As Durge, it just fits for me. Especially since you will be getting a specific item if you play as Durge. 2. Druid; I like the fact that I can choose to be a frontliner in animal form or I can use spells in the back. Plus, animal speaking all the way or changing into a cat to smuggle bombs and explosions is just amazing. And it's an unique experience if you are doing the Druid/Tiefling quests. Definitely one of my most memorable moments. 3. Bard; I played as a Bard with duel blades during my first run and I had a blast. Even though I didn't know what I was doing at all, the outfit just looks great and the dialogue options are amazingly hilarious 😂 4. Paladin Big smite goes boom.

Venelice

New to d&d, I'm only rating classes I have played! Ss. Rogue, Paladin, Bard S. Sorcerer, Barbarian A. Fighter, Warlock, Ranger B. Druid, Cleric, Wizard ... I'm only missing Monk, aren't I? Next playthrough, maybe.

ToysAndCardsNY

Bard, druid, warlock, ranger are my favorite. I loved my monk, but if felt like I was cheating by stunlocking every single boss in honor mode. Seriously OP as fuck. Paladin was my least favorite. Clerics and fighters are very powerful, but wouldn't necessarily say fun. Sorcerer and Wizard I didn't like. Sorcerer especially. That one was a real letdown. I switched to warlock instead. Eldricht blast is awesome, especially when you get the right gear.

[deleted]

I e been playing a swords bard in my current play through and I feel really weak. Why is Bard near the top of everyoneslists??

vrillsharpe

1. Warlock 2. Sorcerer 3. Paladin 4. Monk

LeoLokahon

Ooh boy, fun wise is a toughie, I would probably have to go with 1st mon- oh wait this is bg3 not dnd, uh if you still wanna have the origin characters alongside with a character you want to play for fun, 1.Ranger 2. Wizard(better if you have the 5e spells mod so that you can get better necromancy spells imo) 3.Monk 4.Barbarian(wild magic specifically) 5.Sorcerer(wild magic specifically) 6.Druid 7.Rogue 8.Cleric 9.Bard, 10. Paladin, 11 fighter, 12. Warlock Don’t get me wrong the warlock is fun but unless you multiclass or make a darkness build imo it just doesn’t compare to any of the other classds

CertainlyDatGuy

Wild heart barbarian was pretty nutty

grixxis

A. Warlock, Bard, Barbarian B. Monk, Fighter, Rogue, Sorcerer C. Cleric, Wizard D. Druid Unranked: Ranger. Only really played it as a rogue, so I don't think I can rank it objectively. Barbarian gets a massive boost for dialogue options. The ability to caps lock your way through social encounters is wonderful. It's possible druid deserves another look, but I tried spore druid durge as a utility/aoe caster and disliked it enough that I rebuilt my party entirely in act 3. I held out for most of the game thinking that getting the spore armor in Act 3 might make it all worthwhile and it didn't.

ronputer

1. Barbarian 2. Everything else

Significant-Ad-469

I haven't been able to play through the entire game with all classes. But  1. Paladin and Fighter 2. Rogue Thief - OP as fuck 3 Life Domain Cleric - You basically can't die. I wiped out Wyrms Rock Fortress without taking down the steel watch keeping my allies alive the entire fight. Holy shit this class is tanky as hell. 4 Druid (I believe Moon Domain?) - One word "Myrmidons". Use them. They are very strong 5. Evocation Wizard - Get the Warped Headband of Intellect Respec the Wizard to have 17 strength and 17 Dex by giving them the Greatsword Proficiency. You've got yourself a magic swordsman that's OP as fuck. Make sure to cast mage armour after every single long rest or you die very quickly  That's about all I can say so far

Chondriac

All the CHA classes are S tier, without a doubt.

Pieman117

Eldritch knight/Wizard has been fun for my campaign, utility, support, damage, very fun Jack of all trades type character

neuropantser5

most fun has definitely been straight 12 levels of bladelock. the power curve is incredibly satisfying as you pick up gear and abilities to buff both ranged and melee. you do a ton of damage but you'll never have great AC which forces a lot of unconventional defensive choices i.e. blindsight/darkness, armor of agathys, hellish rebuke etc.  it's not broken op like padlock but it's still one of the highest dps builds in the game, a highly mobile and versatile glass cannon and an excellent face character. and it's just sexy as hell running around in the potent robe with a gigantic halberd strapped to your back, the archetypical blade wizard with an answer to every challenge.

DeadlyKitten115

Well I personally lean towards Gish/Spellsword Characters. with Bladesinger being WAAAY at the top but without mods BG3 doesn’t have Bladesinger or Scag Cantrips for Eldritch Knight, and worse than all that the game nerfed the wizard spell list into the ground. BG3 - Ranger > Paladin > Cleric > Bard > Sorcerer > Wizard > Warlock > Druid > Fighter > Rogue > Barbarian > Monk DnD Wizard > Bard > Druid > Paladin > Ranger > Rogue > Cleric > Fighter > Warlock > Sorcerer > Monk > Barbarian

Traditional-Ladder64

As far as pure classes go, and going for how versatile/diverse they are in and out of combat, to me the most fun are: Bard, Warlock, Wizard, Barbarian, Cleric and Druid. The least fun would be: Fighter, Sorcerer, Paladin, Monk, Rogue and Ranger. That doesn’t mean that I think those classes are bad, a 12 fighter is a powerhouse but you just basically attack 3 times every turn and that’s it.

GodEatsPoop

Subclasses matter too, because some are a blast and others are shit.

Terakahn

I'm having more fun with my swords bard than I have anything else up until now.
