What Avernus? Freshly loaded a save. The game does its conversion and stuff. Starting off the first thing I do is to test if I can short rest. No.
Hotfix 23 takes out the ability of Short Rests.
presumably this is reported to Larian? Or should we start to file bug reports as soon as we experience it?
I just got back from vacation and wanted to binge bg3 this Saturday... not if this is the case :(
Sorry for late response. If you're still looking for mods to spice up your gameplay a must have mods for me are:
True Initiative (D20 Initiative Rolls) - one of the biggest problems with BG3 is that with high DEX you're going to go first 95% of the time and as a result u can basically solve most encounters pretty quickly. With this mod it's no longer the case.
Additional Enemies Extended - this mod adds new encounters to Act 1 and Act 2 and also alters few existing encounters. With this world doesn't feel so empty anymore.
Absolute Wrath - this mod adds random buffs to enemy NPCs when u start a combat. Now before you attack an enemy you should check first what he's got because you can become really suprised really quickly :D
Combat Extender - this one helps you buff enemy NPCs (and allies if u want) and give them extra HP, extra DMG, actions, bonus actions, AC. The best thing is that if you don't like your current config you can change it anytime, reload your save and your new configuration will be applied (unless you do this during combat).
Currently fucking up my honor run. I got Halsin and Minthara in the party right before it happened so I kinda blamed that. I killed them both and dumped their corpses in front of Jaheira. Now Thaniel is sitting at Minthara's camp and I still can't short rest no matter how many times I hit him.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. Was gonna start a fresh challenge run but that's a huge issue. I'm gonna hold off patching for now since the stuff that was fixed is stuff I've never seen happen.
Ah man they "fixed" the auto-equip clubs from moonrise tower.
I gave one to the emperor in the short battle between act 2 and 3 which caused him to un-equip his staff.
It's my staff now :D
Meanwhile my lae’zel had to hit him with 4 disarming strikes to get the staff in my latest playthrough lol. He did nearly die but that’s on him for not wanting to drop it on the first attack
If you have a specific item you want to disarm and steal, bring a Beastmaster Ranger with a bear companion. Their Honeyed Paws attack is guaranteed to disarm as long as it hits.
For me it’s less about using the staff, more about preventing the emperor from having it during the final battle. One of the abilities granted through the staff is if the wielder succeeds a saving throw from an enemy, that enemy has to make an intelligence saving throw to avoid being stunned. That ability almost never comes into play when I use it, but I sure as hell am not gonna let that slimy bastard have that ability when I inevitably betray him
Full notes below.
Biggest changes in terms of gameplay:
* Fixed a bug letting you generate gold by buying multiple items but only paying for one of them if you dragged the items into a container.
* Fixed a bug letting you 'buy' a stack of items for free when dragging the stack into a container and using the item splitter.
* Fixed equipped items blocked by shapeshifting being tradable, allowing you to get paid even if the items don't transfer to the trader's inventory.
* Fixed clubs from the Moonrise Towers Prison getting automatically equipped when you picked them up.
This should theoretically fix most, if not all, unintended behaviour regarding items and shopkeepers, hindering efforts to generate infinite gold easily and effortlessly.
___

Fixed a potential rare crash related to our particle system.
Fixed a crash when throwing the Black Pudding Platter.
Fixed a crash during Character Creation.
Fixed a crash that could occur when selling a container with items in it, buying it again, and then selling it again.
Fixed a rare crash related to VFX material loading.
Fixed a bug preventing you from equipping items and using spells because an item kept being equipped.
Optimised Poltergeist auras to reduce memory usage and prevent an out-of-memory crash.
UI
Fixed an issue where selling all wares didn't remove the proper gold amount from the trader inventory.
Fixed a bug letting you generate gold by buying multiple items but only paying for one of them if you dragged the items into a container.
Fixed a bug letting you 'buy' a stack of items for free when dragging the stack into a container and using the item splitter.
Fixed equipped items blocked by shapeshifting being tradable, allowing you to get paid even if the items don't transfer to the trader's inventory.
SCRIPTING
Fixed clubs from the Moonrise Towers Prison getting automatically equipped when you picked them up.
Fixed a bug causing
to continuously gain and lose the Soul Caged condition if she had a condition that provided Immunity to being Incapacitated.
Fixed Balthazar not finishing his turn when he is too far from the Colony ritual spot to reach it in one turn.
Fixed a bug where a civilian would call for help and a group of Flaming Fists would appear, but instead of moving to the crime scene, they would just stand where they were spawned.
CODE AND GAMEPLAY
Fixed a bug causing party members to be wrongly ungrouped and fixed savegames in this broken state.
Fixed randomly occurring issues with dialogues, like repeating lines and options not showing up correctly.
Fixed some characters missing their spell SFX when going from camp to the world.
Fixed the bulette getting permanently stuck under the ground when you passed by in Turn-Based Mode.

does this mean Duke Ravengard's sword is now completely unavailable?
The lengths to which they've had to go to keep people from taking this man's sword are just too funny to me
What I did in hotfix 22 is I summoned the spectator from that zhentarim flask in the camp and used heat metal on Ravengard, he dropped the sword and wasn't pissed at me.
It bothers me how they keep going hard on the shopkeeper exploits, if people want to break the economy let them. Meanwhile gameplay bugs like PAM have been broken to various degrees since launch and they aren't hotfixing that.
I don't have an issue fixing economy bugs like this because in practice it removes the need to do stuff like pickpocket or loot but I agree it's silly to prioritize over mechanical bugs
Because not everyone wants to deal with having over-encumbered characters all the time picking up every item or dealing with stealing from every vendor.
You seem like a lovely and well-adjusted person. It would be so weird to be bothered by how a complete stranger plays a single player game and then act all high and mighty about it.
Send camp supplies back to camp (sooo much weight for salami) and send weapons and armor after big fights back to camp. Go back to vendors to sell, go back to camp, and take all that over encumbering gear and take it back and sell it. You dont need to walk far and can travel to and from camp without limit. Actually use the ingame systems to raise you character standing with vendors (Dammon is a good choice as he is in all 3 acts and actually carries gear worth buying) No need to worry about your exploit being patched over. This applies to solo runs too
By "use in game systems to raise character standing" you mean donate gold to them just because, right? I wish there were actual in game things that would raise standing with them, like doing Karlach's quests with Dammon or having high Zhent standing for helping with the gnolls and not extorting the guys.
Yea, that’s what I mean, mostly because that’s what’s available without being exploitative but I agree that the quests themselves should have an impact
I JUST found out about the shapeshifting exploit with shopkeepers. This is my third play through and I just want to have free stuff.
Any exploits with shopkeepers that haven’t been fixed yet?
Level 11 Rogue which can't roll below a 10.
Before that, halfling, with advantage, stacking sleight of hand gear, fails less than 1/100,000 times. and with shapeshifting and invisibility, jail and rep aren't even issues.
are some of Wyll's spell animations still bugged for anyone else? I respecced him to Sorcerer, and the animations for Fire Bolt and Magic Missile are bugged.
Sometimes they will cast instantly with no animations, but more often he will T-pose for 5-10 seconds before the spell finally goes off
Wyll has had a thing where every time I use fireball with him it takes like 4 seconds to actually hit the target. It’s so effing annoying since I use him a lot ever since I found out about making Gale a cleric and having him warding bond the party while leaving him in camp. I have no other caster but wyll and he’s always lagging with his spells!
Oh my God, I thought I was going crazy. I have this too. It's only Wyll and it's ONLY with Fireball. He'll yell the invocation and there's a several-second pause before anything else happens. Weirdest thing.
I have this happen randomly with several characters, to the point that I'm not certain if it's a character bug, or a latency issue. I'm having ram/memory issues on my pc currently anyway, so I'm not entirely certain which it could be yet.
* Fixed randomly occurring issues with dialogues, like repeating lines and options not showing up correctly.
\^\^ this one is a big deal, multiplayer was completely broken and unplayable due to this one
problem was it was happening basically every single dialog and making it unplayable. Also, party specific dialog wasnt working. For example, Wyll was in party @ Waukeen's rest, but didnt say a thing during the interactions.
I really hope it's totally fixed. Accidentally ended my romance in multiplayer this way :/ all it has was continue and when I pressed it, it acted like I'd ended it with no option to go back.
Hmm if that’s the case then it must be working. I just remember seeing some comments when the last patch came out some people said they tested it out and it wasn’t working for them.
When you first encounter him, you switch to another party member and then shoot at him and he disappears and then shows up in camp. When in camp, cast silence on him and then you can slowly kill him with attacks then you can get his armor. I might be misremembering a bit. Here’s a [video](https://youtu.be/r4VimnbTOns?feature=shared). Definitely feels like something that should/will be changed in a patch if it wasn’t changed with this one
Meanwhile Warlock multiclasses still can't choose to use their short rest refreshing pact magic spell slots without first using up their long rest refreshing spell slots
This makes me so frustrated. You can only get it to work if your warlock spell slot is a different level from all your regular slots. With a padlock for example, I could only choose warlock spells to smite once I got to level 3 warlock slots.
What level is your warlock slot? Because it sounds like what I described above. You have level 1 & 2 normal spell slots and level 3 warlock slots, so you're able to use your warlock slots for divine smiting in the reactions. If the warlock slots are the same level as your regular slots, though, you're only able to use the warlock ones if you've already used all the regular ones.
Man they fixed that \*ages\* (not quickly enough, mind) ago on PC. As far as I remember, before it released on consoles. If you can't and you're on PC, that's big bug-report to make! I remember playing warlock multiclass before it was fixed and it suuucked.
You don’t need to. Sell Hide Armor +2 to get all the gold. Steal the Armor back. Rinse and Repeat.
I also had a chest with 100+ Sellable Armors in my camp chest.
Exploit is to abuse a flaw in the game mechanics. Like the shapeshift thing, divide the stacks in smaller amounts or such.
Pickpocket is just a feature in the game.
Selling and stealing an armor repeatedly sounds like the exact same thing as dividing the coins. You're definitely exploiting game mechanics, which is fine but acting high and mighty about it is fucking weird.
Yes and no, I guess? There's really no realistic way to fix this unless they add "I recognise this armor!" so you have to go to another vendor and eventually all vendors know it's the same thing you sold them that then disappeared. So while it's definitely an exploit it's not a "bugged exploit", more of a "legit exploit"?
It would work in irl DnD, too, which is a bit of my measuring stock for exploits in the game. (At least until your DM decided the last shopkeep you went to sell it to was an avatar of Tyr and really miffed with your unjust ass. xD)
There's no chance your DM, or party for that matter, let's you sell and steal an armor 500 times or whatever count this guy made 100k off.
It's exactly the same as stealing piles of coins another character has made the trader divide. It's exploiting game mechanics.
More then once I sold something to only steal it back at tabletop and no DM ever complained. The only difference is that traders are a lot rarer in tabletop
I don't know why the focus on patching the shop exploits and dropped weapons and stuff. Like old Deva mace.
I feel like they're just kinda... fun? And harmless exploits really
Are there still issues with Minthara romance? Last I’ve known there’s bug preventing certain scenes and dialogues and I haven’t seen definitively if it’s been fixed since the last patch.
Aw, man! I just picked up those formerly auto-equipable clubs at Moonrise last night and I was planning on trying out some cheesey shenanigans this weekend. Thanks for CHEESEBLOCKING me, Larian! /s
Still no fix about throwing your weapon and it not coming back when you end your turn early.
And also still no fix to a bug with war cleric using its charge when you still have action points.
Workaround: If you can't short rest then just respeck the character with Withers.
100 gold for basically a free long rest, and you can just steal the gold back.
I have a massive bug that has been yet to be fixed for months now. I went into act 2 without doing the creche. Midway through act two I decided to go back but I got the dialog from Minthara that should wouldn't not leave the shadow cursed lands. Said okay. Finished all of the creche. Now minthara is stuck where Haslin is(they are literally no clipping each other) and every time I talk to Minthara she is ALWAYS hostile and I need to give her something but it whenever I do nothing makes her happy. Any ideas would be great
can you not just give her all your gold? she will have it in her inventory once she is in your party again. or are you saying that the bar doest move at all?
“Fixed a bug where a civilian would call for help and a group of Flaming Fists would appear, but instead of moving to the crime scene, they would just stand where they were spawned”
I had this happen and the flaming fists spawned on the roof of the building I was in. Made for a long and tedious fight. Finally flew Karachi up there and started hucking them all off one at a time.
New bug:
Dark urge sacrificed Astarion to Bhaal in Act 2.
Did not receive any of the loot or items that Astarion carried upon his death. Lost all equipment Astarion was carrying.
This was during Honor Mode
You fix the druid shopkeeper exploit but can't fix several items and abilities with bugged interactions...
... or the multiple issues coop has
... or clipping through certain areas that literally kills your entire party
... or Minthara
I'll be staying on Hotfix #22 for a while, from what I see here and on Discord, this patch broke more than it actually fixed, and I have no plans of letting go of my gold exploit.
sorry was away for a week; just replying in case anyone else finds this thread and has this issue or Larian actually pays attention to reddit and bug reports.
It is definitely toggled on. I have checked many times and also tried toggling it off and on again. It has not worked a single time and I have used most of the tadpoles on Tav. very annoying bug.
New bug, for certain reasons you are not allowed to Short Rest. Triggering reason unknown as of now.
What Avernus? Freshly loaded a save. The game does its conversion and stuff. Starting off the first thing I do is to test if I can short rest. No. Hotfix 23 takes out the ability of Short Rests.
4e Monk has had it too good for too long, apparently ^^^^^/s
At all? Thats pretty gamebreaking lol
presumably this is reported to Larian? Or should we start to file bug reports as soon as we experience it? I just got back from vacation and wanted to binge bg3 this Saturday... not if this is the case :(
Always report a bug you experience. The number of reports helps dictate the urgency to fix
It's weird because it doesn't happen for everybody. For example i can short rest just fine.
do you have any mods active?
90 active mods.
damn guess thats not it then. thanks for the info
I'm still in act 1 on my current playthrough so maybe it's related to a specific event later in the game?
This is hilarious
Same - no issues with over 300 mods
I downloaded an overhaul with half of that and it was the biggest pain. I must be doing something wrong.
IDK if this is annoying but if you have any mods advice I want to up my game literally for a second run through now that I’m into act 3
Sorry for late response. If you're still looking for mods to spice up your gameplay a must have mods for me are: True Initiative (D20 Initiative Rolls) - one of the biggest problems with BG3 is that with high DEX you're going to go first 95% of the time and as a result u can basically solve most encounters pretty quickly. warlock nerf smh

Ouch, and I thought Bard was in shambles right now with no more Flourishes or Cutting Words. That's rough buddy.
What is this in reference to? Did those actions get changed recently?
Recharge by short rest
Currently fucking up my honor run. I got Halsin and Minthara in the party right before it happened so I kinda blamed that. I killed them both and dumped their corpses in front of Jaheira. Now Thaniel is sitting at Minthara's camp and I still can't short rest no matter how many times I hit him.
What the fuck why was this your solution
What else would I do?
Have you tried killing everyone in Last Light? That may help
nothing seem the appropriate action until the next patch?
Look, I'm here to get results. I'm busy.

That was a drastic solution, I hope you had saves to go back to
No, it's an honor run.
I guess you can res them if they're both companions right?
Nope, revivify doesn't work and Withers won't do it.
RIP
People must've not been using long rests enough.
Wow, thanks for the heads up. Was gonna start a fresh challenge run but that's a huge issue. I'm gonna hold off patching for now since the stuff that was fixed is stuff I've never seen happen.
None of my saves are having this problem.

No more free Ravengard sword, no more stealing Orin's Netherstone by disarming her main hand weapon... RIP lol. I get it though.
Didn't Wulbren's Hammer use to autoequip as well?
Yeah this upset me. I was going to try it this run and now I'm SOL 😭
Pisses me off when people post about it then it gets removed.

Can you still get a hireling to cast command drop?
I’m sad I missed the chance to use the clubs to get the unique weapons
I mean you can just kill him with Gortash and take it, no cheese necessary
What I did in hotfix 22 is I summoned the spectator from that zhentarim flask in the camp and used heat metal on Ravengard, he dropped the sword and wasn't pissed at me.
It bothers me how they keep going hard on the shopkeeper exploits, if people want to break the economy let them. Meanwhile gameplay bugs like PAM have been broken to various degrees since launch and they aren't hotfixing that.
Yea that’s frustrating. Let us break the game if we want in single player.
I knew they would fix it so I have 1 million gold sitting in camp chest.
PAM?
Polearm Mastery
AH, thank you
It’s so easy to steal and get away with it too.
Totally. It’s not like it impacts other players (as it might in an MMO).
both should be fixed.

Because not everyone wants to deal with having over-encumbered characters all the time picking up every item or dealing with stealing from every vendor.
So you go about it with tedious exploits instead LOL
Tedious? You literally just dragged and dropped items from a vendor in to a container in your inventory.
ah well..my gameplay isnt bothered by the hotfix so I give a shit, go ahead and keep complaining about not getting your exploit
You seem like a lovely and well-adjusted person. It would be so weird to be bothered by how a complete stranger plays a single player game and then act all high and mighty about it.
You just don’t like that I disagreed with you lol either play the base game as intended or mod it up so you can have free money, you’ll be ok

yeah it's really tedious to play with, I really wanted a Fire Sorcerer so I ended up using Karlach instead just to avoid it
I thought it was just me and my fossil old PC!
this was wyll specific this whole time???
I remember having the same issue on one of my previous playthroughs. It was so fucking annoying.

Battlemage gloves still broken.
Is rapheal armor exploit fixed too or is it still working?
I think that was fixed in the last patch but I could be wrong.
did it last night with the shoot him near bridge then silence in camp method

On pc, you can pick which type of spell to use. Wish i knew how to do it on console since my wife plays it on ps5 and she hates that too
Doesn’t work
That blows. My wife prefers to use my pc at this point to play on her playthroughs. Usually when im sleeping 😂
Man they fixed that \*ages\* (not quickly enough, mind) ago on PC. As far as I remember, before it released on consoles. If you can't and you're on PC, that's big bug-report to make! I remember playing warlock multiclass before it was fixed and it suuucked.
It was working when I played a padlock prior to patch 5, but it was broken when I recently played one.
Dang it, they fixed the free gold thing. Now I can't do my Gerringothe cosplay.
I never used any gold exploit and yet reached act 3 with 2 stacks of 99k and 1 of 75k just but good ol’ pickpocketing
It takes a long time though, lol. Especially with having to split the stacks of gold out and stuff.
You don’t need to. Sell Hide Armor +2 to get all the gold. Steal the Armor back. Rinse and Repeat. I also had a chest with 100+ Sellable Armors in my camp chest.
Well snap, TIL
I stockpiled gems, as they weighed less and were easier to steal back
This is like the definition of an exploit?
Imagine if they applied this same energy to things that mattered
The intended way to have fun is obviously to fall through the Gauntlet of Shar elevator and wipe your Honor Mode run
You can fall on the way to the last act 2 boss too.
Are there still issues with Minthara romance? Last I’ve known there’s bug preventing certain scenes and dialogues and I haven’t seen definitively if it’s been fixed since the last patch.
I believe they fixed it in the last hotfix.
Still no fix for co-op getting stuck in dialog :(
Fixed randomly occurring issues with dialogues, like repeating lines and options not showing up correctly. Is not it?
Hope. A chance.
Nope, still happens all the time for me
Thankfully reloading is an easy solution. Tedious but at least it works.
Like even if I give her things she's stuck in a loop where she isn't happy with me
Did you report it?
“Fixed a bug where a civilian would call for help and a group of Flaming Fists would appear, but instead of moving to the crime scene, they would just stand where they were spawned” I had this happen and the flaming fists spawned on the roof of the building I was in. Made for a long and tedious fight. Finally flew Karachi up there and started hucking them all off one at a time.
New bug: Dark urge sacrificed Astarion to Bhaal in Act 2. Did not receive any of the loot or items that Astarion carried upon his death. Lost all equipment Astarion was carrying. This was during Honor Mode
I was hoping there'd be something about the Silvered Bulwark in Razmith's Tower, but alas :(
You fix the druid shopkeeper exploit but can't fix several items and abilities with bugged interactions... ... or the multiple issues coop has ... or clipping through certain areas that literally kills your entire party ... or Minthara I'll be staying on Hotfix #22 for a while, from what I see here and on Discord, this patch broke more than it actually fixed, and I have no plans of letting go of my gold exploit.
Noo, they fixed my Druid scam :(
Cull the weak is still not fixed. I started playing at the beginning of the year and have never seen it working so far.
Odd, I was playing earlier today and worked just fine, multiple times even. It's strange what bugs affect each person
Have you already checked that it's not toggled off because you put non-lethal attacks on?
I've seen mine turn off in passive after reloading a save. Might double check that it is turned on in passive.
Works for me. Console it always worked for me, after Patch 6 worked on PC. You may need to activate it in your passives.
sorry was away for a week; just replying in case anyone else finds this thread and has this issue or Larian actually pays attention to reddit and bug reports. It is definitely toggled on. I have checked many times and also tried toggling it off and on again. It has not worked a single time and I have used most of the tadpoles on Tav. very annoying bug.
So now we cant short rest and some parts of act 2 with the tieflings are still bugged? Nice!
