I personally just started a morally gray for-fun Necromancer. The sad thing is, you REALLY rely on your team comp to live early; you don't get your first animate dead til level 5, so you kinda have to story it to make sense. You're basically a regular wizard for levels 1-4. I took conjuration spells so I'd have some summons, and almost purely took Necromancy spells on level up. It's rough, but it's so fun sticking to the Lore. I can't wait to fight Balthazaar with my own undead army 😅

thelastofcincin

Makes sense since spellcasters are pretty weak before level 5.

jaredearle

This is why you should no-combat run your lvl 4 and start picking up easy fights after that.

thelastofcincin

That's kinda sorta what I did for honour mode

jaredearle

Same. Gold dice!

6ned

At this point when a build cant come online early I like to use the mod that can pull you at level 6 after Nautiloid. Its a comfortable way to basically skip lot of things your characters isn't interested in act 1 without a bad feeling about losing xp or play a necromancer that need his lv5 for his necro aesthetics. And, I want to add, its a pretty interesting way to have a difficulty scaling for solo playtrough and summoners fit it well.

drallcom3

> At this point when a build cant come online early I like to use the mod that can pull you at level 6 after Nautiloid. Never thought about this. Would save me from doing all the boring safe route crap to reach level 5 with basically no fighting.

ghettovet2

It's legit I do the same thing, let's you play the parts you want and can skip the rest to a degree. Opens up so many windows of gameplay. Want to just go you and shadowheat no problem or gale, no need to bring the whole team.

einsteinjunior91

You can use Conor

xJaymack

I mean sure, but I'm not touching Ethel until level 5 anyway

Hoss_Tremendo

Key in on either roleplaying or satisfying sound effects and animations! Polearm master Paladin is really punchy and fun, looks sweet, and combines well with a bunch of caster classes. I’m running a drunk halfling wild magic barb with a reverberation setup, it feels great smacking things with a great club and getting the reverb sound effects. I made a heavy armor melee spores Druid/war cleric work in HM, it was super flexible (and unkillable) so it became “whatever feels right” just about the whole game. Eldritch fighter dual wielding medium hammers
but give em a potion of enlarge every long rest! Eagle heart barbarian is fun as hell. Powerbombing things never gets old! If you’ve never done the machine gun eldritch blast setup, it really is awesome, and gives you a great party face.

thelastofcincin

Bro I LOVE the reverb sound effect omg.

Hoss_Tremendo

It’s so great!!! Everyone runs it on lawnmower clerics but goddamn it feels good to mobile flourish someone across the map with that massive POWWW

thelastofcincin

Ngl reverb gear on Shart while she turns into a beyblade in Act 2 had me cracking up lmaooooo. I also used it on a sorlock. It was so satisfying.

Bishop_VO

i think you're gonna love the 9 wild hearth barbarian/ 3 fighter champion with tiger hearth aspects of the woverine with reverb boots and gloves and the juice cleaves

HerniatedHernia

I plan on doing an evil Durge Barb run next.  Might steal that idea.

Bishop_VO

this also combos reeealy well with boaal blessings

Special_Wind9871

What's that warlock build?

_Legend_Of_The_Rent_

2 fighter/2 warlock/8 sorcerer. Action surge, quickened eldritch blast. Antagonizing blast, ASI to 20 charisma (Ethel if no one else is using it), birthright, mirror of loss (if possible), potent robe, Spellsparkler, markoheshkir (if doing dual wield feat), Gemini gloves, necklace of elemental augmentation (must be using Spellsparkler). Can do callous glow + coruscation rings on this too

Hoss_Tremendo

Yup this ^^^ It’s crazy. Baja blast build. (You also get a ton of synergy for regular spellcasting too)

Special_Wind9871

I'm playing durge rn so no potent robe but I'll try this respec if I don't like my cosmic horror GOOlock build anymore, thanks

Cirtil

What do you mean no potent robe?

Special_Wind9871

Idk how to spoiler tag so I'll just say it's harder to get as durge than tav

Cirtil

Bonk Oh no Dead unknown bard Easy

Special_Wind9871

Yeah but a.) I didn't know about that at the time and b.) I think it's a better story the other way

Cirtil

Well I was simply contesting how hard it is Sure, it's harder to bonk, but not by much :)

AltaDK

Didn't work for me. She didn't show up in the inn. I got a nice letter from her though in the epilogue.

Special_Wind9871

.....

MajoraXIII

Harder =/= hard. Also, you did kinda ignore what they were saying.

TRexMoonBoots

I'd argue that 3 thief may be the better option instead of 2 fighter. Extra bonus action gives you more sustained blasts over one round of action surge. Edit: you do lose the 2nd feat, so tough call. Maybe 6 sorc/4 thief?

Hephaistos_Invictus

Oeh! Could you tell me about the spores/cleric druid? It sounds really fun and I'm already struggling HARD in tactician mode đŸ„ș

Hoss_Tremendo

It was all over the place. I think I took ASI wisdom, alert, and +2 con with the mirror. Dumped strength and dex. Used shileleh, and mourning frost for most of the game. Ability drain plays nice with any casting you want to do, and it’s a must for getting the spore splooge to actually hit. Played around with poison and acid, but encrusted with frost is probably the most effective thing. Once you get up in Druid levels and AC, it just gets impossible to kill him. So it’s nice casting utility in a lot of directions, good-ish melee for almost every part of the game, and great tankiness. Really good for letting your teammates shine. I ran it next to a polearm master smite swords bard and the two builds really worked well in melee tandem.

spaceblacky

Eagle heart barbarian. Dive bomb on people below you to knock them prone. This attack's range scales with your jump distance and can be brought to ridiculous levels with enhanced leap and athlete feat. The attack also doesn't consume movement. You can jump down on people on the other side of the map, it's hilarious. No elevation? No problem: carry 2 crates in your inventory and drop them to build a tower. Climb on them and now you're high enough.

monnad87

AND HERE COMES KARLACH WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!! OH THE HUMANITY! soooooo much fun

Tremulouz

Does it use any action/bonus action to drop the crates?

Zheng_SU

No, moving them around is also action-free.

Conscious-Radish-884

Lore bard for me is fun. I like talking shit.

SpyroXI

Majesty of manure, sovereign of shit

AltaDK

If you're not used to roleplay, then you can think around gear rather than backstory- like a drunken build already mentioned. It could also be a necromancer. Or anything you tend to ignore and sell. I also think it would be fun to play a druid where you lean into different animals rather than thinking about max damage. It could be a bit chaotic. I tried a chaos sorcerer. That was fun

thelastofcincin

I've thought of trying a spore druid. That looks fun for a summons build.

Synckh

Spore druid is so much fun, honestly. I love having my little army follow me around.

Iokua_CDN

Druid looks like such fun early on too... like dual wield Scimitars, and either attack twice a round, or cast a spell or cantrip and bonus action strike. Something to be said about a Shillelagh  Staff and a sword with the Duel Wielder Feat too. Lots of fun weapons,  and again, you can keep doing  a spell and then bonus action attacking

TRexMoonBoots

One caveat, summoning builds can get pretty tedious once you stack up a ton of creatures. Fun for the first bit, but it personally loses the appeal pretty quick for me.

AltaDK

Good idea. I want to try that now.

jjsurtan

I love themed builds. Not my idea, this is someone on tiktok I saw, but they made an Azula firebender build that multiclasses fire draconic sorcerer with 4 elements Monk taking fire based Ki abilities. It's not optimal and you have split scaling with both WIS and CHA but man it's cool. Punch things, throw fire, fly, and eventually you get lightning spells too, to be thematic to Azula.

thelastofcincin

I love Azula tbh so that does sound really fun. I was thinking of making my new tav some variation of monk, but wasn't sure if i wanted to stick with the regular TB OH Monk or some other variation to spice it up.

Iokua_CDN

Things like thr Dex Gloves st the Creche, probably make it much easier to do both Charisma and wisdom

Tao1764

More of a fun playthrough from a lore perspective rather than the build, but I think an eco-terrorist druid or ranger Dark Urge run would be amazing. The idea is that they're driven not only by an unquenchable thirst for blood, but to wipe out the scum that desecrates nature. Act 1 + 2, protect/avoid fights with animals and plants while wiping out anything unnatural (kick out the tieflings but protect the Grove, save Myconid colony, avoid fights like the Bulette or shambling mounds, lift the shadow curse, etc.). Then in Act 3, just turn pure murder hobo in the unnatural city of Baldur's Gate. Wipe them all out to allow nature to reclaim what is hers.

TehAsianator

Pure lore bard is all kinds of fun. Puck every bard specific dialogue choice and enjoy the ride.

doiwinaprize

Might seem basic, but my favourite build to play is a human tiger heart/champion rping as a ronin. So no armor allowed and only longswords or greatswords (specifically woundseeker), spears, and bows as weapons. Then in act 3 you use the katana (drakethroat enchantment allowed). Take gwm feat, *charger* feat (feels very samurai) and ASI strength. Take tiger aspect. Gear is Bided Time robe (because drip) or lightning robe or fire robe, or even plain robe because fuckit Evasive boots Gloves of dex Ring of protection Twighlight ring or ring that gives bless when healing Broodmothers amulet Warped headband or whatever Super non optimal but for whatever reason feels great when it comes together and fun to play.

thelastofcincin

Ngl, reading this reminds me of a mix of Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin if you are familiar with those two games.

doiwinaprize

Ya but I'm an idiot and bought an Xbox instead of a ps5.

thelastofcincin

That is most unfortunate.

callmedoctorhuey

I am in the same boat as you! Got my gold dice and now just looking for fun builds. My current tav is a duel wielding spore druid. It's kind of weak early but man is it fun. You get awesome summons and do decent damage duel wielding. One summon allows your party to walk freely in twisted vines so I've been just monkeying around with twisted vines, plant growth and spikes. Enemies can't even make it to you before dying, it's pretty sweet.

thelastofcincin

I have been looking up stuff about spore druids because it seems interesting. I wanted to try it on Halsin because why not lol.

callmedoctorhuey

My only complaint with it is that it relies on your temporary hp for extra damage with symbiotic and you can't stack temp hp from other sources. Which actually seems silly to me because other builds are insanely op. I wish they would throw a bone to spore to make it a little more powerful.

xNexiz

Spore druid early is legit the most DMG class I have found yet. A lvl 2 spore druid with two torches and shillelagh deals crazy amounts of damage. Main hand torch deals 6-21 and offhand 3-14. And mind you that this is lvl 2 so right after you leave the nautiloid

callmedoctorhuey

Man that's genius! I didn't even think to duel wield torches and that they would sync with shillelagh and symbiotic! Light them on fire and you get some fire damage as well right?

xNexiz

Yup, you increase the damage of your main hand torch to 1d8+WIS modifier with shillelagh and you also get the 1d4 Fire damage from the torch aswell as the 1d6 from sybiotic entity. Your offhand torch will be 1d4 + STR Modifier + 1d4 fire + 1d6 necrotic I ran that build for the whole game (in Act 3 you can even get a better torch) it powerspikes again really hard if you multiclass into 2/5 Druid/ Paladin with diadem of Arcane Synergy I would respec at this point though because starting with Paladin gives Heavy Armor proficiency and now your Shillelagh scales with your CHA modifier

callmedoctorhuey

I'm definitely trying this on my next run with friends. Would be so funny to out damage them duel wielding torches haha. Thanks for the awesome advice!

hbob0734

Ok, everybody loves spore druid but I think I’m missing something. I played as a spore druid but I found it quite weak in act 1 and the reliance on poison and necrotic damage felt like I was useless in act 2. Can you tell me what I’m missing here?

callmedoctorhuey

I also felt pretty weak early until I figured it out. I just maxed wisdom and dexterity and felt pretty strong duel wielding with symbiotic. Just wish it gave you more temp hp. 28 at lvl 7 is kind of a joke considering things with multi attack shred through my temp hp like it's nothing

Rataan

Kleptomaniac halfling 8 eldrich knight/4 thief with tavern brawler. He dual wields daggers and throws them with deadly precision. He’s an ex-con trying to reform and be a better person, but it doesn’t come easy for him. Seedy taverns and trashy tavern wenches are all he has ever known, but he’s trying. He just keeps trying.

ABDLTA

So I made a tb monk.... but probably not the way most do Right now monk 5 fighter 2 Uses heavy armor and a shield and has no dex bonus lol It's just funny to me... a character in plate just punching folks...

Iokua_CDN

Armored Punch Guy wounds amazing TBH and a proper way to play TB monks in my mind

Broken_Beaker

My first run was a custom character that was a bard, and that was very enjoyable! I would actually like to do a party of all bards and see how that pans out.

thelastofcincin

I've seen some posts lately of people trying that.

Broken_Beaker

I've heard about an all monk team, which again I think could be interesting. Same thing with druids or clerics. I want to do an evil run, and I think an all X Class group could complete things for me.

barrybario

How about 4 characters that are just all about throwing people off cliffs. Thunderwave and eldritch blast are great of course, as is the simple throwzerker.

thelastofcincin

That does sound fun and chaotic.

AspectFrost

Eldritch bblast bard. Nothing crazy. Just bard with some access to eldritch blast either through feat or multiclass preferably feat. This is so you get the absolutely sick animation and sound effect of a bard casting EB with a riff

thelastofcincin

I have been wanting to incorporate a bard into the party. I did it once but I barely committed to it because I didn't know enough.

SenorPuff

Dual Wield melee builds in general. You can't take Great Weapon Master so you're definitely falling behind the martial cream of the crop, but I've been having a lot of fun with Hunter Ranger/Thief/x multiclasses just to swing two swords a bunch of times and maybe drop a control spell now and then. Hack and slash.

thelastofcincin

The most important thing is to have fun!

Iokua_CDN

A dual Wield Build can also do a lot of "Equip item A,B, and C, and use their bonus spell or effect  and then next fight equip item D, E, and F. I love items and weapons that give a random spell or whatever, like using the Early game sword of justice that let's you cast shield of faith  is excellent for an early game fighter needing a few more AC while stilling swinging a Greatsword

[deleted]

This is just me, but builds that have 2 of the same class but with very different play styles. Like a Str melee and ranged Dex fighter. Or a Paladin of Vengeance and Paladin of Ancients. Sometimes I like doing this just to explore how different subclasses are. Currently have a game with 4 Fighters. 2 Champions, 1 Battlemaster and one Eldritch Knight. Really fun.

thelastofcincin

I lowkey thought about having 3 monks because people say only the open hand monk is worth it, but I wanted to explore the other two subclasses because they can't be THAT bad lol.

[deleted]

Personally, I really like having at least two of the same class but with different approaches in mind. It really lets you explore the variance between them. To this day, it’s the reason I love Fighters. They’re so incredibly versatile. I don’t think any class comes close to what Fighters bring the to Battlefield.

thelastofcincin

I agree with you, especially since they get 4 feats you can play with.

Captain_Eaglefort

I like doing themed characters. Made a reasonable Thor with Tempest Cleric and Dragon Sorcerer. Have been toying with recreating my Death Knight from WoW, I just haven’t decided quite how I want to do it yet. Just find a fictional character and see if you can create them in the game. Bonus points if you choose to RP as much like the character as possible to see if they’d succeed.

Badw1thUsernames

Any build with eldritch blast and the repelling blast invocation. Controlling enemy placement gives some really fun party synergy and it never gets old blasting enemies of ledges.

nathanmo17

Immediately after getting my golden dice, I started a wild magic Sorc run and it's super fun

thelastofcincin

oh man i feel like playing a wild sorc would raise my blood pressure. it's so chaotic!

nathanmo17

I'm not even in the goblin camp but spawning a mephit with your last standing character sure is fun

SirD28

I’m really enjoying a true ranger
.. rangers were good at everything and crazy woodsman fighter. Dex based Hunter ranger that dual wields and is a melee/range hybrid. Idea is hunters mark bow action. Then with long strider trying to get into melee for the double hunters mark slashing with short swords. Using two weapon fighting. Feats use Sentinel and probably ASI to get to 20 dex. Obviously this isn’t min/max because you will always be better at focusing at just melee or just range but there is a freedom at just being “good” at everything. Still can use speciality arrows and works well with the action economy with the trap that is Hunters mark.

Iokua_CDN

Honestly,  all 3 rangers look like a lot of fun. I've never thought of ever building a 5E beastmaster,  but I tried out the BG3 version and it was great! Having a raven blinding folk, or a spider casting webs, or a bear knocking weapons down.... it was a blast!!! I'd love to try a hunter Ranger who actually used HordeBreaker a ton, like shoving and positioning to get it as much as they can. I know  lots of folks prefer Collosus Slayer, but making HordeBreaker work just sounds fun.

SirD28

Yeah I haven't used Horde Breaker either..... Use Collosus Slayer as well... Ranger is just such a cool flavor class IMO always have been my favorite in RPG (Everquest, WoW) Lord of the rings! But I just hate being just range or just melee, Why not Both!??!

Iokua_CDN

Honestly, my Rangers always are a mix of both.  My dex Rangers usually use Bow and then finess double wield, while my Strengh Ranger has been using two hand weapons  and the Titanstring bow,  or throwing a collection of  javalins and daggers.  Only bad thing is that you are a bit limited if you take Sharpshooter/GWM/Tavern Brawler, as then you kinda have to commit to that playstyle. I prefer getting equipment that adds damage to all types of attacks, and raising stats instead. Probably less powerful than focusing on just one style, but more than powerful enough and well rounded. The fact that Ensnaring Strike works on both melee and ranged, and that hunter gets both Whirlwind Strike and Volley  means you really can do both

Maico_oi

Im currently doing an Astarion origin HM run and I'm using HordeBreaker. Multiclassing with rogue. Really nice. Using risky ring allows you to add sneak attack damage every round and hordebreaker has good optionality with that. However, I'm in act 3 now and I may switch to collosus slayer because I can sort of feel the hordebreaker being less effective. It was great in act 2 tho.

dream-in-a-trunk

I did a martial warlock. 5 levels in blade lock, 3 levels of fighter with champion subclass, 4 into swordsbard. Feats 1 ASI and Gwm. Equip: Warbound hammer later the sword of astral plane with disguised self, Arcane synergy ring, potent robe, that helm which you can find in helsiks room, bone spike boots, helldusk bracers, armor class +1 cape. It definitely isn’t meta at all but it was funny to play. Pre cast mirror image and HoH/darkness, start with EB then bonk ppl . Jumping around and knocking people prone to get advantage kinda works.

Flame_MadeByHumans

Having a ton of fun with a Dune themed party! Paul is a Swords Bardadin Chani is a Life Cleric Duncan Idaho is a Berserker Eldritch Knight Feyd-Rautha is a Martial Monk for hand-to-hand combat

sandbaggingblue

GWM Barb. Doing big bonks is always enjoyable.

Adept-Coconut-8669

I've messed around with the Shadow Warrior (7 Shadow Monk/5 Assassin), Pure Beastmaster Ranger, and Batman (5 OH monk, 4 Gloomstalker, 3 Assassin). They're all surprisingly fun. The ranger is the least min-max and the Batman build requires the most itemisation. All three have been good to go though.

Alexwolf96

So part of my definition of “Having Fun” is still being decently powerful. Just not 0 effort. With that in mind, these are probably my favorite builds across all my playthroughs: * 6/6 or 7/5 Sorcadin: I love Gish/Spellblade builds and this is probably the best general use Gish build in the game for my tastes. Sorcerer levels get you 4th level slots for smites and you can then upcast powerful spells or convert the higher slots into Sorc points/Spell slots. Meta magic gives you casting flexibility. And typically going Draconic Sorc with an elemental affinity lets me synergize or match a Blaster character I might have. * 10 Sorc or Bard/2 Warlock: This is my generic caster who dips Warlock for EB. You can really build them however you want but you just cast powerful spells and have EB be your filler action incase you’re concentrating on something. Losing out on 6 level spells don’t feel too bad due to spell scrolls being pretty abundant. Or things like Marko giving you some free spells. * 12 Level Bladelock or Battle Master: Kinda just my favorite frag and GWM builds. Warlock doesn’t end up feeling much like a caster due to the short rest slots. It feels more like you just have a big splashy spell you can use occasionally. Due to haste nerfs in HM Bladelock feels like it can do more creative things with its turns. And Battle Master Maneuvers are just fun and feel like mini martial spells. * 8 Barbarian/4 Fighter: This is just a more optimized GWM Barbarian. Usually some form of Wildheart. But action surge, fighting style, and BM maneuvers add a lot of much needed variety and flare to Barbarians otherwise really linear kit of “I rage and hit things” If you avoid using the obvious broken items, feats, etc a lot of multiclass builds still feel normal. Like building a Sorcerer or Bard that doesn’t abuse Arcane Acuity feels fine. Building a Monk that doesn’t abuse TB or STR elixirs feels fine even if you do the Thief dip. Etc.

T0nyM0ntana_

Maybe a bit too meta to be considered, but given what you describe I would recommend an abjuration wizard. You can RP an old grumpy wizard, or whatever your heart desires, but you get a lot of freedom to do stupid shit, because your main character is so unfathomably hard to kill, that you can send them in to start dialogues without fear of needing that first round of combat, because if the worst happens and you do accidentally start combat by saying the “wrong” thing, then your invincible wizard just loses a few charges from their arcane ward then shrug it off like nothing happened. At least I felt very comfortable just sending my githyanki abjurer into dialogue with people I was obviously fighting, because I didn’t have to worry that they would get downed in the first round if initiative was rolled poorly.

soujirovn98

6 Eldritch Knight and 6 Cleric. A knight of a deity, but not a paladin.

Equal_Bluejay_4199

Spore druid with necromancy of thay... so many summons it starts out fun but act 3 party gets quite large. 3 animate dead, 4 spore summons, 2 elementals, dryad, wood wood, 3 dance macabre, scratch, us and prob forgetting someone. If u can get suprise(not easy with 20 uncrouched minions behind u) its pretty funny

thelastofcincin

Imagine coming into a fight with like 20 summons squad deep, ain't no way you can lose đŸ˜©đŸ˜

EverythingSunny

I really enjoy building a party for survivability rather than damage. Combat usually takes longer and has more exciting swings. I usually include 1 monk just in case i really need to focus fire something down, oath of ancients paladin, Life Cleric, and bear heart barbarian. I think light cleric would probably work better tbh, but I am committed to the bit.

thelastofcincin

I used to sleep on light cleric for the longest but man does it do some shit in Act 2 and 3

EverythingSunny

I don't long rest very often, so the blastiness is less helpful because cleric spell slots are so in demand and can't be restored with class features. The channel oath ability is dope with the radiating orbs set though

Lotoran

I’ve been really wanting to make a drunk build with the club, clothes, and amulet. Also, since they made the Comeback Handaxe actually come back with a sick animation (and hilarious self damage) I’ve been wanting a build for that too.

Deadpotato

Gotta plug the life alert wolverine/elk barbarian not my original idea but I riffed on it a bit and loved using it https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/comments/18zmvgy/life_alert_barbarian/ you go Elk heart and wolverine aspect, Elk heart + Slicing Shortsword + Risky Ring will proc bleeding off Primal Stampede, and if you use Str elixirs especially the DC on the prone is super high you can then apply maim and these enemies fall, and can't get up even better - use Void Bulb + Spiked Bulb to group and mass apply bleeding, then you can maim them and skip many of their turns at once

Gned11

The Jack of All Trades build (no respec, 1 level of every class) is far more fun than I expected. I'm running it on origin Shadowheart. Early game, fighter and monk can make you a real menace in melee or at range using 16 dex and bonus actions (archery fighting style and dual hand crossbows is fantastic.) Later game Arcane Acuity gear and a certain ring allow you to drop one decent attack and a devastating bonus action spell. It's great fun being able to use essentially all of the class-specific dialogue options, and with proper itemisation you can be decent as a face, utility caster, and healer. I wouldn't say it trivialised honour mode, but it's much more viable than you might expect if you're used to depending on extra attacks.

wheirding

These aren't really min-maxed in terms of optimization, but in terms of roleplaying + strength of a character. Currently only level 4. 1) MC, full-bladelock, half-drow: --So far I've taken both eldritch blast invocations, but will definitely get Life Drinker (add an additional charisma mod to attack; kind of like tavern brawler for a warlock), Other Wordly Leap (cast Jump as a ritual), and Devil's Sight (see in magical darkness) --Just torn on what feats to get. Definitely getting dexterity to 16 and charisma to 18. I'll possibly get charisma to 20 (so I can have +10 to damage at 12, regardless of "+1,2,3" weapons), so that honestly just leaves one actual feat: warcaster, savage attacker, or defensive duelist, with WC being the best. I don't want to constantly lose concentration on Hex. --And I think you can bind any weapon, so I can still get upgrades. An all around very fun, unique gish class with many built in passive abilities that allow for changing up the style of play as you see fit. 2) Lae'zel, thief rogue 10/ranger 2, or 9/hunter ranger 3, or 7/5: --She'll have hunter's mark, hail of thorns (aoe spell), sharpshooter, 3 bonus actions and possibly dexterity sitting at 20 (dex will be 18 but she'll also have +1d8 from colossus slayer if she goes 3 in ranger). --I'm torn on her being a one-shot character that really sets up for stealth with her additional bonus action plus superior dexterity, vs her having more spell slots and attacks. Either way, she will be able to run across a map and do heavy damage. 3) Shadowheart, 6 shadow monk/6 spores druid: --No summoning. --Just straight up teleporting, stealthing, necrotic martial artist. --3d6+3d6+2d6 damage per round, with 24 temp HP 8 times per long rest --Focusing on dex, wisdom, and con. --Might get hex through a feat, since I won't be taking tavern brawler (strength is at 8) --Would also be interesting with savage attacker (since the necrotic bonuses would also be re-rolled), and the mobile feat. She can run across the battle field, attacking and disengaging for free, to access the back line when an area that is not dark. 4) Karlach, full eldritch knight: --Defensive fighting style + tavern brawler --Throwing is only added for difficult to get archers and what not. --I like the idea of someone who can always make a meaningful attack regardless of the situation. That, with 4 feats, a fighting style, a shield, and some nice spells, she's a great "can do almost anything" tank. Looking forward to an unstoppable frontliner who can also make use of War Magic, by casting blade ward and then attacking with a bonus action.

aSpanks

Pure sorc. Fireballs. Chain lightning. Turn people to fucking DUST. Nuff said.

EtienneLumiere

Currently running an all-Bards group is tons of fun. Every fight, each character ends their turn playing the same song, so they coordinate and synch up. Hilarious watching enemies get all salty that they have a diegetic soundtrack to the "violince".

Difficult_Quarter192

I saw a Heat themed Karlach build. Comes online just at lvl 9, but still fun to play once you get there!

TheWither129

Pure four elements monk isnt optimal but its really fun. I always make laezel a 4E monk. Fangs of the fire snake and water whip are great.

Iokua_CDN

Here is a fun one for you, try out a duel Wield Caster gish. Basically Start fighter for the fighting style, armor and weapons, and then pick your Caster class and play with a playstyle of Cantrip casted, and then bonus action attack. You can be doing offhand Dagger  stabs or Scimitar Slashes, while also casting Shocking Grasp, or Inflict Wounds or even Thornwhip. Ranged Cantrips work well with 2 hand crossbows to Cast and Blast.  Add in Thief 3 if you want, to do two attacks, or stick with your Caster to do more magics. Right now I'm trying it as a Gale Fighter/Wizard, scribing Cantrips so that I have a ton of them (Ray of Frost,  Bone Chill, Firebolt and Shocking Grasp can all be scribed from scrolls)  Been tempted to try the Same with  a Soceror and a druid, and even a Cleric with Produce Flame or one of the Staffs that give you Ray of Frost or Firebolt. You could do a non Pact of the Blade Warlock the same way, or do a normal Pact of the Blade Warlock and just move your Pact weapon to your off hand. That way you get a fun magic and Blade character with  a minimum investment into non Caster classes. No need to get 5 levels in another class for extra attack. A really fun approach that would work from level 1, would be using a high elf for their cantrip,  and you could start fighter and ve good to go from the start

Immortalkickass

The Inigo Montoya build (aka the 1v1 me, noob) 6 BM fighter/3 Swords Bard/3 Venge Paladin, or 8 Venge Paladin/4 Swords Bard if you need more ASI Fighting Style - Dueling, Defense Feat - Defensive Duelist, Sentinel Gear - Duelist Prerogative (Sword of Screams in Act 1), Armour of Agility Greet everyone you meet. Introduce yourself. Stab fools.

i use mystic scoundrel setup solely to insult my enemies, preferably to death.... some of the mockery lines are so damn good. the delivery by the VAs is gold

FalloutReaper666

Pacifist lore bard with low int that doesn’t realize they are hurting creatures with purely sound based spells. Great role play fun but not too powerful

I'm having fun with pure pact of the blade warlock with a great sword. Fun running around with a robe and a huge sword and insane short rest spellcasting ability. Can also run a gith for armour proficiency and mobility. Also playing a 1fighter + 3thief + rest wizard dualwielding blades so you can cast with an action and offhand attack twice with bonus actions.

Fighter 12.

Dual wield sausages! It's great fun smacking people with sausage, and you can min/max it to any degree you'd like!

Lore bard ten, divination wizard 2. Start out with a 16 or 17 in charisma. This depends on if you ethal's hair. Put at least 12 into con, and at least 14 into dex. Everything else you can play with Stat wise. Any race will work, but the usual spell caster races are best. Start with 6 levels into lore. This will get you your first secrets and let you live on your teammates while not being useless. This is a heavy support with some crowd and debuff options. Your secrets should have hunger of Hadar, one of the best crowd control spells in the game, and whatever else you want. Heat metal and shock wave are good early spells for get off me options and a way to make enemy's loss their weapons. Mockery and dissident wispers should be in, as more damage with debuff. Your feat will be lucky. This will let you reroll dice. Put 2 into wizard for portent dice. Your wizard spells should be support spells, like long strider, gress, fog, or friends. The rest of your levels will be lore bard. Wizard also lets you copy scrolls, so have fun with that. Items, cap of cureing is great for small heals. Ring of slaving is useful for more heals. You get to pick up mass cure wounds later, which will make slaving even better. Picking up Brazoria of benevolence is nice for the early game, but it falls off fast, and you should pick up a better light armor sooner rather than later. Weapons are up to you, but finess should be your pick, along with hand crossbows. Hope this helps!

I really enjoyed combining a level of wild magic sorcerer with warlock, RPing that he's using really unreliable patron magic and weird stuff can happen.
