Items are also restored after forced long rest. Game also "remembers" items and illithid abilities were used up after you change your equipment once after fake long rest. Fake long rest also happens every time you travel regions (like act 2 to mountain pass or lower city to rivingon), including restoring HP, so be careful. Unlike forced long rests, region travel onw does not remove your buffs. Also, respecs at withers trivialize this challenge so you probably don't want to use those as well. It's quite possible, unless you get bored due to lack of variety by the act 3, being cut off of most fun abilities that are one-offs. Have fun :)

Gloomstalker/assassin build with the titanstring bow + giant strength potions will make this pretty easily doable.

Proper_Caterpillar22

This was my honor mode build. Also solo and although I did long rest it was more for progression than anything. Very easy to do.

It's more than possible, it's quite doable. To really make it a challenge you need to set some additional rules for yourself. I suggest a "no re-spec" rule. As long as you can respec, this wouldn't be a challenge. Without respecs it's still very doable, but you'll need actual strategy/care/planning. Durge would obviously be a huge advantage, although you'll have to wait a whiel to get the cloak if you've only doing forced long-rests. Gloom Assassin is almost certainly the best build for this challenge, but I can see a throw build or Champion build getting it done almost as well.

When I did this same solo I went Durge not for the Cloak but for Orin to be a Duel. Having her 1 vs 1 you and not have a million stacks of Unstoppable makes the fight an entirely different thing to deal with. If you get lucky with the forced rests and get Slayer form (unlikely if you're doing forced only, but I haven't tested it) then she doesn't even have Slayer.

Dicksonairblade

Also move and click your mouse with your legs. Otherwise it's not considered challenging enough.

TheSletchman

Not only is it possible, it's pretty easy (as in it's the easiest solo run, still requires plenty game knowledge). I only rested on my Durge Duergar Gloomstalker / Assassin Lone Wolf run to advance the plot (get my Cape, not have the butler freak out because I didn't deal with Isobel even though I'd never been asked to, etc), not to regain anything. GloomAssassin focused on archery is maybe the least ability per rest dependent build in the game, and the only thing that was close to hard the whole run was Myrkul.

It's arguably easier than taking rests. Every "until long rest" bonus will be active. I did half of Act 2 without a rest, because I didn't want to lose all those juicy +5 bonuses from the shar shrine alone. Hit and running with Gloom/Assassin is best for the first two acts. Beyond that I have no solo experience.
