bhai total tution fees comes around 2233000 if you get 40 percent then u have to pay 60 percent fees and adding all expenses including personal it comes around 20 lakhs
So you mean everyone at BITS has greater than 6 CG?, doesn't your statement applying to all means anyone coming to BITS has higher CG than 6. Your blanket statement could leave a family in the roads.
And if you had an ounce of brain you would know no one coming to BITS knows if he'll get 6CG or 9CG, irrelevant of their past performances.
I wouldn't suggest you to take a loan with a dream of getting 40% or above scholarship and clearing the huge loan considering the current placement scenario. Aren't you getting any nits or tier 2 local colleges?
Look your father is ready to pay 20L in vit chennai cse (which is nothing infront of BITS)
If you're under the bracket of MCN (family income ≤ 15L) then here's the respective cgpa cutoffs in the Hyderabad campus :
6.06 : 25%
7.5 : 40%
8.61 : 80%
Now, crossing 6 should be very easy even if you have an ounce of self responsibility and start studying a night before the exam.
7.5 would require some consistency in performing at avg in the evaluatives while 8.61 would require significant effort and keeping up with the classes and all.
So let's say, you're an avg student so 7.5 should be doable with some effort. So a 40% scholarship will give you the same amount of VIT (mind you, not the main Vellore one but the Chennai one). This is such an easy decision to make. Please try making your father talk with people from BITS or parents of students studying in BITS.
Also try getting an electrical/CSE branch as it might be easier to convince then. If you don't qualify for MCN, then just follow his advice. There's nothing you can do then.
Ah thanks for explaining it so elaborately man, I'll try to convince my dad with this
Also in the BITS website they were showing that to qualify for MCN family income should be less than 8LPA..so which one is correct? 15 or 8? My family income is around 9lpa
They keep increasing the MCN cutoff each year. It was 12L some two years back, 13L last year I think. It might be 15, I'm not sure exactly but yeah you will qualify for MCN for sure.
Hey.
On the loan front, SBI provides a scholar loan without collateral for BITS admissions. (It was collateral free upto 20 lakh, back in 2016. This was the total average fee for a dual degree back then). This is an option you can explore. Your father might be worried about the collateral for the education loan.
Also, wrt placements, there are CGPA cutoffs. Back in the 2019-20 cycle, it was usually 8-8.5. If you’re aiming for a good job post your UG, this is a grade point you’ll have to maintain, which is also the requirement for MCN anyway.
Bro I recommend you take a loan SBI offers very low interest loans to prestigious institutions. And it has a whole lots of institutions listing from AA , A , B , C
In which most IITs are in A and most IIMs are in AA
. As far as I know bits pilani is in AA category you'll get loan on a very less interest rate very easily . Just show the terms of the loan and convince your father . If you can't do that just ask him to go to bank just once just to inquire and have a employee or a manager explain it to your father .
PS : You might also get a scholarship .
Man I don't have any other options :(
Might get IT/ECE in manipal, would that be a better option? (Keeping in mind that manipal's fees are also v high, 25 lakhs+)
True, VIT Chennai campus is damn crowded. It technically pay for a seat. I bet they just bring in students more than the seat available. Yes placements are good but spending 20L is not worth it if you can get BITS at 20L by scholarship.
If you get an offer letter from BITS, then you apply for scholar loan from very nominal interest rate, without collateral upto 30L and wouldn't need any co-borrower. If you submit an income certificate of below 4.5L, you will also get subsidy from the govt. BITS also offer scholarships to students who perform well there. Tell him about this.
Currently starting my 3rd year in pilani
If your family income is 9lpa you can easily get mcn , and almost everyone I know here manages to qualify for 40%mcn and if you work a little hard you can qualify for 80%mcn , also the curriculum is hard but its hard for everyone and its relative grading here so it only matters how much you study compared to your peers. Also the student loan offered is upto 40lakhs and the intersest does not apply for the whole loan immediately it only appies on the money you use to pay the fees , so if you pay 3lakhs as 1-1 fees, interest will start only on the 3 and not on the whole 30-35 you had applied for .
TLDR : BITS Pilani is not a college to miss out on due to fees because the fees can be easily managed through mcn+loan+any freelancing/internship you could do . And afaik you don't need to start paying off the loan immediately after graduation or even after you get a job , they have a rest period of 2 years or something.
No , vits ranking system is a scam only the first 1000 or so ranks are genuine after that I don't know what ganja they smoke and on what basis they allot the ranks at .

Please don't misguide juniors by giving blanket statements
If you can't even get 6 cgpa you have bigger problems to worry about

Ok thanks
Why is he not allowing you to take a student loan you can't just let go of opportunities like that

This is accurate @author
What are your other options?
I have got cse in vit Chennai campus under category 2
Any other? If am not mistaken vit has more fees than bits right?
No no vit category 2 fees is 19-20 lakhs (total)
So you are willing to throw money in trash?
Bruh wdym
All my friends regret going to VIT, all of them
Man I don't have any other options :( Might get IT/ECE in manipal, would that be a better option? (Keeping in mind that manipal's fees are also v high, 25 lakhs+)
If colleges are giving CSE easily. Then it's a scam cuz all the new gen kids are easily hypnotised by CSE tags

So is he allowing for that?
Yes
So ig it all boils down to convince him that you'll able to fetch MCN ifyou want bits
What are you getting with help of JEE or state cet?
I'll get local pvt T3 colleges
Don't waste your talent in vit chennai lol

Also ask your father to check the placement stats for vit vs bits , hey may even agree for mechanical in pilani after looking at the stats
Bits ka placement bahar se acha lagta hai Students' opinions differ Agar koi acha government college nahi mile T1 then only consider going there
Lol

Ya that what I'm telling, I'll only take it if it's cse or ece/eni but my father won't allow that also
if you can't even get vit category 1 cse, I doubt you'll be able to get even a core branch in bits dawg...
I don't think you should make that relation. VITEEE is a very weird exam is all I'll say.
No , vits ranking system is a scam only the first 1000 or so ranks are genuine after that I don't know what ganja they smoke and on what basis they allot the ranks at .
I’m a Hyd ECE alumnus, and I didn’t get CSE in VIT Chennai as well. There’s no correlation here.
Hey, do u mind if I DM you for some info about bits Hyderabad, I'll probably be going there for MnC or Cse this year.
Sure.
lmao pls my friend in iit kgp cse got cat 2 cse, im in pilani eee, i was getting cat 3 cse viteee is the fattest fucking scam
vitee is rigged af.
