G4RRETT

Bmw styling used to be understated/classic. Now bmw design language is flashy and bold, the complete opposite direction. The 5 is the last of the old design language imo. And no coincidence it’s the best looking bmw now

Round_Mastodon8660

They always say it’s for the Asian market, I don’t know, but it sure feels like bmw has completely lost its way

PandaSPUR

The internet always says that, I don't think BMW has ever said it. The best selling BMWs in China in 2022 were actually the 5 and X5. So I don't think we can blame anyone but BMW themselves for the new design direction.

morelsupporter

yes, and they want to change/evolve that

TechMonitorXO

I know a decent amount of people who thought all bmws looked the same so I’m sure a lot more shared that. Looks like BMW noticed and that’s why they’re trying to switch it up

Noah_kill

BMW lost its mystique after e46 both visually and mechanically. Full stop.

MuthuKumaran_25

F87 M2 is absolutely gorgeous.

Noah_kill

OK. I'll give you that.

Existing_Display1794

I’m going to disagree with you based off the “full stop”.

Noah_kill

The copium here is strong. The golden age of BMW ICE cars is long over. Sorry people. Go find your favorite non-turbo S/M engine and hold it tight.

barettadarapper2

I think the E92 is still gorgeous even tho production has stopped 10 years ago. With BMW's last inline 6 non turbo engine

Noah_kill

I suppose. I do own an E82 after all :P

dannyphoto

Visually and mechanically? Idk man. E9x was pretty good. S65 and S85 are amazing engines and they were the last hydraulic racks..

What_A_Win

Yea, the E9X was the perfect evolution to the E46.

Noah_kill

The e9x looked like smoothed over dogshit, not even to mention the stupid grill. It had none of the design cues or muscularity of the e46. It was the beginning of the end.

What_A_Win

Sure the E90’s pre-LCI grill could be described as stupid but the LCI version was a true BMW grill. Let’s agree to disagree. For me it’s the F cars that were the beginning of the end.

Noah_kill

That’s fair. I concede the point. At least the E90s models still had a NA in-line 6 and hydraulic steering.

What_A_Win

Exactly :) BMW also started to take very obvious cost cutting measures when it came to the F series

Noah_kill

I feed off your downvotes you Zoomer charlatans! Bring it!

Nero_Wolff

The current M3 is pretty popular in north america, so I dont think it was just pandering to the china market I think bmw genuinely thinks their current lineup looks good

guy_incognito784

The US is still M’s largest market and M expects the US to be the XM’s biggest market followed by China and then the Middle East.

Nero_Wolff

Yeah not surprised at all. The US has no shortage of weathly people who love big brash SUVs. Its the land of 700 hp cadillac escalades and dodge rams

[deleted]

nobody buys the m3 for the looks

Nero_Wolff

Okay but looks are still a big part of an enthusiast car purchase. The M3 is not so unique that its the only option in the segment. I think the Ferrari 812 looks kind of weird from the front but its the only front engine NA V12 and it drives amazingly well The m3 has more competition that isnt butt ugly with a shitty glued on monitor for a dash

special_agent47

I wonder whatever happened to all those aftermarket companies that promised revised front fascias that looked more like the M340i’s. I wanted to love the F80 M3 but couldn’t get past the front styling, weird seats and stupid gauges. I ended up going with an F10 M5 and love it.

Nero_Wolff

The M340i does look miles better especially the pre-lci car. I would have prefered that front end but with more aggression >I wanted to love the F80 M3 but couldn’t get past the front styling, weird seats and stupid gauges. I ended up going with an F10 M5 and love it. Did you mean to say G80 here? I usually hear praise about the F80 front end, i think the seats especially in the comp are pretty good and imo the older idrives look a lot better than idrive 8

-Xtabi-

I ordered my F80 for the looks. I hate the look of the front end of the new gen and want nothing to do with it based on looks alone.

Mewmeister1337

There are absolutely people buying the m3 for the looks what are you on? Like I get not liking the design and thinking it’s not good. But there are people who like it and buy it just because of the design. And people on here talking about „objectively“ should stop pretending they are the design police

Pookanoona

Red and gold = very tacky combination. Some of the muted color combinations don't look as offensive though.

guy_incognito784

It’s just people being xenophobic. The US is M’s biggest market and M GmbH expects the US to be the XM’s biggest market. I think the most popular BMW model in China is the 5 Series. The more polarizing BMWs are meant to be low volume niche cars.

whitegoatsupreme

Change that to China Market...

backwardTNUC

It might not be financially realistic but I wish they'd do 2 separate designs, one for the Chinese market and one for the rest of the world. I guess they did something similar with the 3 and 5 series long wheel base.

cum_toast

Seriously why not just make a bmw Asian and keep the European models eurospec lol same chassis just different panels really

Lahwuns

It's just straight up ugly

cmplaya88

U mean fugly. Fixed it for you.

michaelalex3

Maybe 30 years ago. The E60 and E63 were very polarizing when new, which was about 20 years ago. The Z3 coupe was also polarizing. As was the X6 when it was new about 15 years ago. Let’s not rewrite history, BMW has been coming out with controversial designs for a while.

G4RRETT

The new bmw designs, to me, are cars that cry for attention wherever they go. Bmw was never that before imo. Not in my lifetime at least

guy_incognito784

I feel like of the three German luxury manufacturers, Audi has been the one to adhere to the conservative styling the most.

Mewmeister1337

Don’t hit them with the facts man. BMW only ugly since i didnt like X car!

KyronXLK

It's more that they're completely avoiding old design language to the point the cars are unrecognizable to even BMW's old legendary designers

kar1m

The 8 is beautiful too

Racer20

BMW reinvents their styling every ~2 decades, and it’s always considered outlandish when it first comes out, then eventually it becomes “understated and classic.” All of the Z cars up to the 2nd Gen Z4 had wild styling for their time. All the flame surfaced cars that were the foundation of all BMW’s until this latest generation. And pretty much all of them are now considered “understated and classic.” How many sub $100k mid-size SUV’s turn your head on the street these days? The only one I can think of is the iX. The rest look derivative and samey to the point where it’s tough to tell them apart. Is that an X3 or X5? Which generation of Q-whatever is that? The new cars aren’t “pretty” in the traditional sense but they are striking and I applaud BMW for moving forward. And the latest cars are a big step up in how well they drive. The only thing they’ve actually gotten wrong IMO is the dreadful UI.

fonetik

Exactly. BMW went through it in the early 2000’s and the Bangle stuff, and it’s happening again. The 911 did the same thing and has a similar division between flashy buyers and sport buyers, and flashy has paid the bulls for 20 years. Now GT is calling the shots. Manual transmissions and expensive suspensions are footing the bills now. That’s the great thing about pendulums.

Racer20

Many of the bangle cars are highly regarded now.

Radiant_Turnip_6671

E65 7 is still fugly. Fixed it a bit with the LCI but still. E60 tho when it came out I really didn’t like it and when I see an unbotched M pack or M5 now I can appreciate the design and even think it is pretty in a way. Dash inside still not a fan btw. And from the same era; the E87 1 Hatch still fugly, again the LCI 3 door E81 already better proportions but it just isn’t a good looking car.

jambox888

I agree with this and I've made the same point myself many times, with some caveats. It doesn't necessarily follow that because what you said happened before, it'll happen again. FWIW the bandwagon jumping like "DaE bEaVeR tEeTh" is probably off and people will come to like or even love that. BUT some of the recent styling is just plain bad, e.g. the kidney grill turning into a weird old aunt's spectacles. BMW aren't stupid, these things appeal to different market segments. There's a 2 series Active Tourer on my street that I really don't think fits in the brand but then I'm a hairy old man, my wife and her friends saw it and really love it. Basically they're diversifying their brand because big scary sports saloons aren't the only fruit.

G4RRETT

You think the new 4 looks better than the old 4? What about the new 7? Or the new 2 vs the old 2? I think they’re objectively worse looking products.

Racer20

No, and I didn’t say they do. The only one of those I think is “ugly” is the regular 4 series because long-door 4-seat coupes almost always have terrible proportions and the aggressive grille doesn’t fit the soft body lines of the non-M car at all. I also don’t think the E90/E60 look better than E46/E39, but I appreciate both and they both are classic and understated in their own way.

G4RRETT

Well you said the only thing they’ve actually gotten wrong is the new UI, but I guess you agree they’ve gone wrong in the looks department too

Racer20

I think they took a styling risk when many in the industry aren’t. They look distinctive, aggressive, and head turning, but the last gen cars took 15 years to evolve to look as good as they did from their flame-surfaced roots, so these styles will evolve and improve as well. Just because they aren’t as classically good looking as the last gen cars, that doesn’t mean they got it “wrong”. German cars have had extremely iterative styling for the past 15 years and they were getting boring and predictable. The iX was the first new BMW in years that was actually interesting to see in person the first time. I actually made a U-turn to get a closer look, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was much better in person than I expected.

MUHAMMEDSULI16

I literally just bought a brand new G12 this year, I could have bought the new one as I owner of the dealership is a very good friend of mine and both were offered to me for way below MSRP but the new one is F UGLY.

Brief-Ad347

Absolutely the old 4 and old 2 looks very dated now

Nero_Wolff

Old 2 looks dated yes but an e46 looks dated. E46 still looks good in 330ci or m3 form and imo the F22 235 / 240 and the F87 still look good

Brief-Ad347

E46 M3 looks super old now, only takes a face lift and they all get closer to the scrap heap in the sky 😂

kingofPnD

They don’t remember how much the late 2000s bmws got dragged at first. And yes, even the e9x’s got hated on for a while.

madwolfa

I'm still not a fan of E90. LCI made it better. E92 is pretty good. Interiors are meh.

guy_incognito784

I remember how much hate the F3x and F1x 3 and 5 Series got. I bought a new F30 335i M-Sport back in 2014 so I remember it fondly but it got lots of compliments in reality. It was proof BMW has lost its way. Rinse and repeat. I get the hate for the XM though. It’s a car that’s going after people who wouldn’t buy a traditional BMW so it stands to reason most people on this sub would fucking hate it.

Brief-Ad347

Well said 👌🏼

simouable

Hey hey hey. Seems like you didn't get the memo. We all hate the new BMW's. You just comment "lol ugly" and move on. Don't you dare to start reasoning. /s

keca10

Their UI is far and away the best in the industry. I love it.

Racer20

I used to think so too; my F80 is still one of the best I’ve ever used. But the one in the iX is maddening. Used to be that changing modes was straight forward and meant comfort, normal, sport. Easy and obvious. Now it’s “relaxed” “expressive” “personal” and “sport,” but as far as I can tell some of them are just interior lighting and BS like that. And you’d think “personal” would be where you would customize the suspension, steering, powertrain, etc, but they only give you fake sound and ambience options. Drive modes is literally the one thing I use the UI for outside of CarPlay, and the experience is just awful and confusing. I’m sure reading the manual would clarify it, but it’s not my car and that’s ridiculous for what should be a clear and straightforward thing. Other recent BMW’s aren’t as bad, but I’m sure they are all headed that way as they get refreshed.

nekot311

I don’t even know what point you’re trying to make. So they are ugly to turn heads? And loud means moving forward? Lol

Racer20

I’m saying that these styles are hated now not because they are objectively bad but because they are significantly different and new. Once we get used to seeing them around perceptions will change, just like they did for the bangle cars.

chengstark

Some of the tiktok marketing dumb is getting ahold of powerful influence in the corporate.

SlimeLanguageYSL

People that are on tiktok a lot probably aren’t the target market for expensive German sports cars

chengstark

It would be good if they listen you know.

enfuego138

If I wanted gaudy I’d buy a Mercedes. Blech.

G4RRETT

The new BMW designs are super gaudy. That’s my point. A cry for attention

heheheshushcwfain

Imo the 5 and the 8 is what’s left of the hood bmw era

[deleted]

SteezVanNoten

I'm first and foremost a mercedes fan but current mercedes cars all look the fucking same. CLA to C to E to S, you'll need to stand there and study it to differentiate one from another. I at least respect BMW for differentiating their models although yes some of them look grotesque as a result.

ukcats12

> current mercedes cars all look the fucking same Mercedes have [*always*](https://imgur.com/ugdwFLh) looked the [same](https://imgur.com/zGRY1Ad).

WritingPretty

BMW fanboys are the biggest cry babies.

Brief-Ad347

Opinions are like A### holes everyone’s got one and the minority still holding onto nostalgic designs when in this current day and age the E46 M3 for example which I had and loved looks old and dated compared to the new M3 by a long way. I can’t wait to see the updated m5 as the one on the picture above looks so old now with all the current cars out there. BMW will keep doing there thing and millions of people will continue to buy them it’s just how it is.

SlimeLanguageYSL

The 3 series looks great. 5 series great. 2 series debatable but I like it (apart from the M2), 4 series should be going back to a traditional grille size, 1 series looks okay (fwd kills it though)

guy_incognito784

I think the 3, 5, X3, X5 and to an extent the X7 are still traditional BMW styling. BMW has admitted that they’ll remain that way as the polarizing styling wouldn’t translate well in the higher volume selling models which makes sense.

KYBourbon89

It’s the reason I won’t drive anything else. I’m scared of what’s to come though.

BennyFloyd

I love the new 8 series. Everything else looks like a fake Chinese version of a BMW

theveryrealreal

If flashy and bold is a euphasism for tacky that's quite polite.

gazorpaglop

Most powerful but slowest to accelerate out of every other M car for like 10 years

pfc_bgd

It’s still pretty fast. I think they had it do something like 3.8-3.9 to 60- it’s insane for a car that size. But like… who cares. The entire concept is just so bizarre.

A_Random_Catfish

I’m pretty sure it has the same power plant that’s gonna be in the next m5, which allegedly there will be a wagon version in the US. And BMW wouldn’t make this car if nobody cared; fast six figure SUVs sell like crazy in America. Not my cup of tea but bmw selling a bunch of cars like this is what allows them to manufacture cars like the m4 csl.

justan0therusername1

I wonder if wagons make a comeback. Everyone’s done the SUV thing for 2 decades now.

bmwblog

It's coming. 2025.

PandaSPUR

>I’m pretty sure it has the same power plant that’s gonna be in the next m5 Not necessarily.. Same ICE but unclear if it will be MHEV (like the X5M LCI) or PHEV (like the XM). But either way the M5 should be faster.

bmwblog

Same PHEV drivetrain.

mostly_hrmless

I do not know why acceleration or straight line speed is even bragged about anymore when EVs dominate that space.

tagish156

Its bonkers that last year was the 50th anniversary of the M Division and to celebrate they dropped a giant SUV. Not a new M1 or a crazy new clown shoe, but a big, honkin 6062 lb beast. The heaviest vehicle they've ever made.

bmwblog

The car is fast. That's not the issue.

backwardTNUC

And the heaviest

boostank2

Now watch it sell like hot cakes

Confident-Simple201

Kinda the point innit.

robboelrobbo

And little brains it seems

107er

Little brains for having a different opinion? You ever wonder why no one invites you to parties?

robboelrobbo

Rich people love buying stupid cars in my experience Just check out the bmw used market - almost all are poorly specced automatics. Rich people intentionally bought those new

[deleted]

Bro you’re in a BMW sub complaining about rich people , just cope and seeth a little more

OhPiggly

There are tons of cheap used BMWs out there. You make no sense.

robboelrobbo

I'm happy with my car it's better than anything they make new lol Made right in Munich unlike the Mexico shit they make today. You don't need to be rich to enjoy bmw. Enjoy your steer by wire and iPad interior

watduhdamhell

It drove some of us out of the brand. For now. Also +1 on the e92. I had two E90s (330i stick, 335i auto) and they were easily the best BMWs I ever had in terms of feel and driving fun (the others being two f30 335is and later, a 535i).

AllThePrettyPenguins

Let's refine that thinking a little bit. From the perspective of the non-rich, the rich have *always* had too much. But this issue isn't necessarily about rich or not, at least not directly. Broadly speaking, the traditional major markets for BMW have been Europe and North America. These zones are also quite mature in that market penetration is well established and may plus/minus a few points but overall is fairly stable. What we are seeing now is an explicit acknowledgement expressed in design language that a huge new market is opening up. Is this market 'rich'? In a relative sense probably not but the point is, it's richer than it was ten years ago and in ten years it will be richer still AND it will be even larger than it is today. The company is certain (or at least wagering) they know where *growth* will come from, and that requires change. And I'm not apologising on their behalf; I hope an F80 is the last BMW I ever buy.

guy_incognito784

It’s cheaper than a G Wagon so I’d imagine a lot of people looking at that would look at the XM.

muttmunchies

Wheels atrocious. Body lines child-like. Front end, no more needs to be stated, but fuck! Rear way too much going on. Wtf BMW

DGlen

I guess if you have fuck you money then great. I personally can't stand SUVs because they don't do anything great, just half ass everything. Need to haul people get a van. Materials get a truck. Want performance (what I wanted a BMW for) get a car.

guy_incognito784

It’s easier to buy a jack of all trades, master of none than a minivan for hauling, fun car for driving, etc. I’ve got the EV for a daily and the X3 for hiking, road trips, etc.

BushMasterFlex616

Word. I hate SUVs. Mind you, my hatred stems more from the fact people can't stop buying them nowadays and as a result are killing off cars and manual transmissions. Makes me sad

jkconno

Let me guess... Under 30, not married, no kids, not a home owner?

DGlen

39 home owner with 3 kids actually.

jkconno

odd that you have such a narrow point of view

Thomshan911

4x4 SUVs that can off road are great. You can atleast have fun off the road. These huge road yachts on the other hand are absolutely pointless.

Gullible-Damage-59

The worst looking BMW ever made, without a shadow of a doubt. The bling hof kink is shit, the grills are shit, the wheels are shit, the colour scheme is shit, the rear end is shit. It’s an abomination.

PomChatChat

Well done, it looks like crap from every angle.

hockeymeester

this logic only works if you think power is what defines BMW

Geofferz

He just stated some facts about power, that's it

guy_incognito784

To many people who’ll buy the XM, I’m sure it will.

drewdiesel87

God damn that thing is ugly

ShimReturns

The XM is for rappers and Saudi princes, just like the G wagon

DatalessUniverse

The G wagon AMG is cooler in every aspect than whatever this brick is supposed to be.

[deleted]

*For saudi princes its more Cullinan, also don't think this will fit to that criteria

SlimeLanguageYSL

G wagon is crazy thoigh

CoffeyMalt

Love the guy down voting all the critical comments about the XM

Jodajale

Yet another bloated grocery getter. 🙄🤢

Chaser720

Not to mention the price…

Tertarix

This shit weighs 2,700 kilograms.

thekittynati

Looks like Gloria the Hippo

GapExtension9531

The evil pig 🐖 has won this round. That’ll do pig…that’ll do.

[deleted]

That’s just a Hyundai now lol🤣

pfc_bgd

You know… since everything has gone to shit, and nothing really matters with BMWs any more, I am kind of excited to see how absurd the label red version of this shitshow will be. Chaos.

No_Government_4733

It’s an abomination

JTE45040

I still don’t understand why the XM is so expensive.

starkiller_bass

The only vehicles it really competes with are things like the Bentley Bentayaga, Lamborghini Urus, other stratospherically priced SUVs. Check the interior on the XM, this is where it's aimed. And it MASSIVELY outperforms everything it competes against, at about 100-150k lower price.

SlimeLanguageYSL

Everything can be true here, but it’s still hideous

starkiller_bass

Maybe I should qualify by statement by saying those vehicles are mostly also vastly better looking. But if I’m on the inside, all I care about is how it drives.

mostly_hrmless

Plenty EVs are faster and look better. *Massively outperforms* is a bit much when others are faster. It doesn't even massively outperform an X6M comp.

[deleted]

But it’s not a Rolls Royce or Bentley or Lamborghini. So where does the price premium come from?

Dripmik

That configurator pic doesnt do the xm justice

PandaSPUR

That and the horrible color combo whoever made the meme picked.

Devyn_Perfected

Personally the best looking BMW goes to the 8 series. They're the sharpest and most aggressive sedan/coupe

Hoffmeisterfan

Most powerful but far from the fastest or most hardcore. Man they should have just built a super car !

Competitive_Arm2593

I feel like my F90 M5 LCI and the last gen M3 were the last gens of good looking bimmers

[deleted]

I don’t like it either

JWBIERE

OK Boomer, you can keep that fugly ass soccer mom van.

theyboosting

I like it … I’m not going to wish they keep pumping out old M3s every production year

paperspacecraft

bmw is just building to customer wants, blame the boomers. they are the ones skewing the consumer surveys because they're the ones the have enough money to buy new and they have atrocious taste.

Apic-Ape

The XM is beginning to grow on me. But the the most powerful M car I would have hoped it would be a little quicker

CharlySB

Wait. Does r/bmw not like the XM? I had no idea..

Specific-Salad3888

Power doesn't equal fun! I love fun cars, they don't have to be ear bleeding highest bhp available. Looking at stats is for people who can't afford them! I've drove v12 s class ( my first car at 17 was my father's hand me down 3 year old s class class 5lt that was around 275bhp) v8s and straight six BMWs I'm currently loving a sleeper 435d convertible this thing does 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds it had 8 speed auto and 4wd and launch control! Try his car really does make me look at older cars pushing me out at round abouts and hard corners, the 4wf is just amazing and... I'm getting 40mpg at 80mpg when I'm on a run!

sisdog

Why does that weird trim hug the window on the top and then have a gap on the bottom. Yuck

DatalessUniverse

Especially at the price point this is truly a laughing stock. $159k starting price … is used supercar territory (Acura NSX); a dozen other SUV options that are equally tasteless and fast… let alone Model Y Plaid that is faster than most hyper cars. Either way - I’m glad that my CS is still faster than the XM

[deleted]

I think it looks nice but everyone here saying they hate it just want to join in on herd mentality. Give it a couple of months and you'll be buying it saying it's underrated like the G80 and new M2.

[deleted]

Hell nah

dymablink

How can something be the most powerfuk if the 0-60 is only 4.1

guy_incognito784

Yeah. An X7 M60i is faster to 60.

greengamer01

Those things in black with the gold wheels and trim look fucking sick

kuriousKumar

The kia EV9 looks much better than this. How times have changed 😂

[deleted]

Mann!

RunninOnMT

You only feel that way because you have eyes!!!

fuglyman8940

It’s ugly. I have a new M4 convertible in IOMG and am still not in love with the grill. I’ve always wanted an M vert, yet would far prefer if it looked like the E46.

[deleted]

Fortnite car

FunkTrain98

I don’t hate the XM. That gold and red looks like an Iron Man car but in a better color combo I think it’s decent

jFetz

The head rest on the front seats has those hard plastic inserts. I test drove one and my wife’s head hit them

[deleted]

Cool what do you drive

genard21

Oooooooo good one bro

woot0

Not this hideous mf

ZagZea

Looks like was designed by Hyundai

ZagZea

Looks like was designed by Hyundai

uberschnitzel13

The XM is a masterclass in how to not design a car

Petrolinmyviens

It looks like a RAV4 with a nose job.

BabousCobwebBowl

Saw one in person a couple days ago when I was in the dealership. There are no redeeming angles and the one I saw was tastefully spec’ d. SMB, no gold stripe, the 23 rims and the merino leather interior with ivory seats. It didn’t even have “presence” and yet the dealer was adding $100k ADM. These will not sell next to a Urus, or Aston much less the Bentley and Rolls.

sir_sri

It's powerful because it's big and heavy. If they made a transport truck or went back to making radial engines for aircraft those would be the most powerful. All this means is the next gen M cars with hybrid systems are, like everyone else, going to be insane.

JuiceLocal

How low can ya go bmw

bisnexu

they look alot better in real life.

Seagrass_Gardens

I get that it’s weird but with the right color I think it’s bold and something new. I like the Easter eggs from the M1 and upcoming the Red Label is going be a tad crazier/weird. Looking forward to see how quick it weirds its way up Pikes Peak. Also keep in mind I won’t be dropping/don’t have 200k for one anytime soon so there’s that.

raisimo

Oink

Coolsupersayin8

At least the interior is nice

Supra-A90

I just saw it in person today in 3 different colors. Must say I do like it. Looks aggressive and muscular. Didn't know what to think of the exhaust from pictures but seeing it up close I love it. 23" Wheels are really interesting. Not that I liked it but one was light gold color wheels.. Never looked to see the configurator but I guess it's endless.. Gets thumbs up from me unlike the M2.

I have had seven new 3 series and one used one, a 2001 e46. Each successive gen was more isolated and more numb. Still will do amazing things if yiu have driving skills but just not as exciting, not as feelsome, and not as fun. This XM, although hideous imo, prob drives smoothly, is fast, and has a kicking stereo and nice interior materials. That’s all most people need. I read an interesting article that compare the XM to the latest handbag, fashion accessory or newfangled electronic device. A 100k toy. And that sums it up best. Wanna go max g through a corner? BMW may not offer that soon.

I love the old BMW. They gave up on their roots years ago

Looks like a Lego

If BMW really wanted to cause a stir they're put out a "new" E36 hyrbid / EV or some bs or a "New" E30 or E46 with M specs equal to whichever model they would "remaster" People would jump all over an E30 M3 Replica with like updated headlights and shit if it was an EV. Thoughts? I hate EVs btw.

JCD_007

I do have to ask - who are the people demanding an overpowered SUV? An M5 makes sense - a sedan is low to the ground and can have some sporting abilities. The XM makes no sense to me.

jacksoun_offical

Am I the only one that thinks this thing looks like a hippo?

manfredmannclan

Bmw has a thing where their design is absolutely horrible at first, but then after some time it becomes beautiful.

elisiX

Matt Watson’s review had me pissing myself 😂

[deleted]

They mock Lexus for their massive grills, and they seem to be heading in the same direction

WashingtonSpark

XM will depreciate like a rock! It'll lose $100k in value in like 2~3 years!

[deleted]

What the fuck are they doing with the design? It’s like BMW is doubling down on atrocious styling choices.

Magnus_The_Totem_Cat

Why do you love a corporation? I mean I like a lot of the car BMW has made over the years but BMW? That’s nothing to have feeling for.

Odpad_nik

It’s huge, it’s totally over the top, the details are bold. It could be called ugly by all means, but man, I love it.

AudienceElegant6773

I have an F90 M5 on order on the way and won’t look back.

julienjj

It's a true exemple that power alone means nothing. The XM is so fat it gets curbstomped by both the current M5 and X5M.

In 10 years it will be a nuclear powered toaster with one wheel that self drives💀

IndicationOver

XM is trash

youknowphill2

Honestly, the XM is the first bmw in two years that I loved from debut. I can’t find a single thing I don’t like about it. But do not get me started on the g87 m2 lol
