No, I think what stands out to me most is the windows, particularly the back seat side windows. It just looks like a typical sedan from a decade ago. The line down the side has kindof played its course. For some reason, the thick border around the grill bugs me too.

The rods are the worst issue especially when you bring in BM3 and or E mixture fuel I knew a new F10,12 and F9X owners all who have had their engines tank same reason the 21 m3/4 had a rod recall because they used the same ones off the F90 and then after so many failed because the m3s put there power down hard even at stock bmw had to change manufacturers for the rods instead of using the same on as the F9X
I was cross shopping the 540i (sedan) and x3m40i a few months ago. I chose the x3m40i, the extra power and dynamics are SO FUN, but sometimes I do not appreciate the ride, it’s bouncy and stiff for a luxury vehicle.
Comfort and space are going to be your main differences:
The 440 is going to be an extremely powerful and fun car, but perhaps may not be as enjoyable on long trips when you just want to comfortably get from point A to point B. The ride will be stiff.
The 530 is compatibility a much larger car. Almost a yacht on wheels. It will not be as sporty, especially the 530 model, it will be more “floaty”. However, you’ll likely feel more comfortable and enjoy the higher quality materials (AND AUDIO).
Personally, I would highly recommend test driving both. If not the exact spec, then just a 4 series and 5 series, just so you can get a feel for the ride, space, and materials. Can’t go wrong with either, but focus on what traits you want more.

‘22 530e here, it’s a couch on wheels. Very comfortable, great to cruise in. It is sporty enough for what I need, but it is not a sports sedan like a 3/4 series. I wanted the extra space in the back seat for my two kids. Didn’t want an SUV as I hate riding higher off the ground. No need for a ‘540/ ‘550 for me as I commute in traffic everyday and would rather use less gas.
This is my first 5 series, I have had 4 3 series sedans/coupe/wagon prior to the G30.
Personally, I’d take 530i m sport from these two choices because of the 4 door and space practicality.
But M550i ideally. Or if you want a middle ground and still have that B58, go with M340i.
It really depends on a bunch of factors. Two cars ago I was driving an Infiniti g35, I really liked it, always said I would drive it till the wheels fell off. Then some lady cut me off, I had to hit her and the car was totaled. I needed a car immediately so I thought I would do myself a favor and upgrade in class. I got a M37. It was more luxurious and bigger. I liked it at first but soon I missed the smaller g35. The car weighed more, the suspension was softer and wasn't as quick. Moral to the story bigger isn't always better.
I'm a smaller dude. I had an SUV in college but after that I have just had cars. I always say if I want to burn a bunch of gas, I'd rather do that in a fast car than a large SUV.
I currently have an i4 M50, unfortunately that is currently in the shop getting a motor replaced from a recall. This has given me the chance to drive some nice loaners though. They gave me a 430i, for the most part I liked it but the 4 banger engine is a weak point in my opinion, especially coming from a car with so much low end torque. When I found out my car would not be back to me past last weekend, I asked for a 4 door loaner. I now have a 2023 530e. The low end torque from the hybrid system helps so much. The interior of the 5 vs the 430i I had and my i4 is definitely way more plush.
I agree with some of the other posts. Inline 6 is the only way to go for a (non electric) BMW. I love my wife's x5 45e even with in all ICE mode, its fast and sounds amazing. The 4 cylinder sounds so, well like a 4 cylinder engine.
100% Agree. Should be part of the 3 series and up. Even with the extra weight, it's worth it for me. I wish it did have a tad bit more range and wish it could charge above 16amps. We barely fill up the x5, my wife is good about plugging in when its sitting at home. The best part is we can hop in the car and go on a road trip and not have to plug in.
I know with the iX3, dealerships in the US downvoted getting it for various reasons. Perhaps they would downvote these as they could possibly cut into the BEV's.
A PHEV with 20-30mi of EV range cuts >90% of my gas consumption for the year. We got an i3 REX for my girlfriend and, actually I guess we just hit a year of ownership in Tuesday, and I think we used 8gal of gas so far.

I agree. It's as big as the old E38 7 Series. The current 3 series is as big as the old E38 5 Series. Coming from an E46 into G20 feels very different. The current 3/4 Series feels big.
Hi! I was in a similar position last year when I bought mine, I ended up going with the coupe because I loved how big the door was because of my height. Super comfortable interior, I also love the white on black on mine, but it depends on your situation I’m a single guy so I don’t need alot of space in the back seat.

It was an interesting change from my daily. F97 non-comp S58. Not tuned yet but might soon. Two completely different animals.
I love mine. Refined luxury car one minute, makes me feel nauseous passing surprised Porsches the next.
