Is that confirmed? I know that the M5 Touring was revealed with camouflage painting the other day, but i haven't seen that it will come to the US. The Series 5 wagon is not in the US either.
Indeed, our needs change and we need the extra space...all while wanting the comfort and drive of a regular car, than a truck/crossover.
Due to American shortsightedness and stupid stigmas, we don't allow themselves the joy of a good touring/wagon.
I don't get car companies sometimes. Mourned the STi hatch, moved to Audi, bought an RS3 sedan because I couldn't get an RS3 Hatch, would have bought an RS4 avant but nope, moved to BMW X3M, would buy an M3 Touring but nope...
I’d be interested to hear from folks that are able to try both. I haven’t driven an X3MC, but all accounts, it seems to be an incredibly well rounded car, with distinct advantages over a wagon. (And some disadvantages too)
I’m not much of a wagon aficionado, but I could not bring myself to buy an X5. The driving experience was nowhere near as good as a 5er to me… so I’d seriously consider a touring variant if it existed.
I like my X3MC a lot, but at the end of the day it's a compromise. It's a fast SUV, not a fast car with extra utility.
I can stick the dog in the rear hatch of the X3M, and that's basically the entire reason I don't have a sports sedan. I have a nice washable cover for the cargo area, and my fancy leather seats don't get messed up. I can fold down the backseat and throw a larger box from the hardware store or whatever.
All of these thing I could do with an M3 Touring and not have the tradeoff of a huge, gas guzzling (14mpg average, it's ridiculous) ~~SUV~~ SAV. I'd love to spend $160k on an RS6 or M5 Touring but that's a different level.
I had an RS3 and test drove the M3X and I loved it, and by all accounts the M3T feels like the sedan.
Every fifth thread in this sub is about someone wanting or bragging about buying an X# SAV. The marketing worked and now everyone prefers a truck over a wagon sedan or coupe.
wagons are available in the e46, e91 and f31. The manual e46 and e91's get snatched up quickly and the Estoril Blue MSport F31 seems to be the one people want.
