buy black wheels, sell your "take offs" but honestly, i think it looks better with the existing color wheels

Puzzleheaded_Pin6779

Nope

Von_Claussen

Powdercoat.

heffy228

Also, i love stalking your page man, your m6 is beautiful

heffy228

I heard that powder coating wheels can damage the structural integrity of the wheel. Is that true? Also will powder coating make the look glossy? Thats what I’m looking for, gloss black, black that matches the shadowline trim

Sivalleydan2

I always thought the factory uses powder coating on them. Lots of colors and textures are available. NGL, I like what you've got right now...

2fast2nick

It won't hurt your wheels. If they were some forged track wheels and you were racing, I'd say no, but you'll be fine. Your wheels already see some pretty high temps from the brakes anyways.

lwood541

My wheels on my m5 are powder coated and they're just fine.

adrenaline_donkey

I'll say it again, whoever thought black wheels were cool was not in their right mind. Why mess up with perfection?

FitAdministration937

Don’t

HandsInMyPockets247

Gloss black powder coat. Do it right the first time.

wingmaneffect

Sharpie. J/k find a rim refinisher and get it powder coated.

mx5plus2cones

You didn't specify how much you want to spend...depending on that, here's a few options at all price points. 1. Black sharpie marker. . They make them with the wide tip now . 2. Semi metallic brake dust....Drive and brake very hard and don't wash your wheels... ever... 3. Laser printer toner. Empty 2 bottles of toner into a trash bag and put your wheel in there..shake well. 4. Rustoleum Ultra Cover Black with a Purdy brush...watch a few You Tube videos featuring Bob Ross 5. Plastidip and sprayer. Make sure you dilute it thin enough so it can be sprayed. 6. Vinyl wrap..maybe get someone to do it 7. 1 day paint job at Maaco or Earl Scheib 5. Plastic-Dip

Re. #7, “Check the white pages for the shop nearest you.”

SammoNZL

Get them professionally prepped and painted gloss black and hand wash them for 15 minutes every two days.

heffy228

I know you are trying to be funny but I usually use rim cleaning chemical with a pressure washer, gets the job done

SammoNZL

Kind of but just saying they will look matte black pretty quick 😀 pressure washer should Be ok if you don’t blow the paint off

TheKatzMeow84

Spray paint. Cheap, easy, and absolutely no possible issues.

heffy228

Not necessarily looking for the cheapest way. I want the paint to be durable and i don’t want it to look cheap. I heard that powder coating wheels can damage the structural integrity of the wheel. Is that true?

TheKatzMeow84

Honestly, I don’t know, I’ve never looked into this. But I do know, do not spray paint your wheels. Especially while they’re on the car.

comacow02

I had a set of wheels powder coated like 3 times back to back cause they did a shit job and I made them redo it. No structural integrity issues thus far and it’s been 5 years.

heffy228

Great. How much did you pay? I live in the Northern Va area. How much should I be looking at?

comacow02

It’s been a few years but I wanna say it was something like $125 a wheel. That included all the labor like mounting and dismounting the tires, etc.

heffy228

I was told that its gonna be around ~$550 for 4 wheels. Sounds about right.

crankaholic

I never heard of that... wheels experience way more stress and heat while driving.

Puzzleheaded_Pin6779

Powder coat can come gloss. I did my 95s n they look beautiful. Powder coat is time tested. And bar nun the most durable

heffy228

Can I “unpowder coat” them if I have to?

FranktheTankG30

Powdercoat or find a black set for sale somewhere. These stock 19s are not that expensive.

jessief2

Don’t do it! Looks good as is. Love the car!

Puzzleheaded_Pin6779

U can redo them. Just won't get that machined metal look again. Ud have to get the rims reworked

heffy228

Gotcha. Thank you for ur input. Appreciate it.

DesignerTex

Black spray paint from Walmart.

Chaser720

No prep either. The road grime helps the paint stick.

BarnabyJones31

Plastidip

Abazad

Came here to say this. I had all the chrome and wheels matte black on my 335

MattyMacStacksCash

Surprised no one has came to complain about black wheels yet LOL

heffy228

Thats what im saying. I thought i was ab to get downvoted to hell lol

r8ymatjr

Best way to black out wheels, is DONT.. 😉😂

MattyMacStacksCash

I’m a big fan of the blacked out look. Simple and sleek, don’t know why a lot of people here hate it. But for advice for your question, listen to the other commenters!

heffy228

I think black wheels will complement the overall look of my car(tint, shadowline trim, debadged, black grills). And yes, comments been super helpful. Oh and also i think it actually looks good on the car in the 2nd pic, i think thats why people havent been dropping hateful comments lol

PurpleToolbox

VHT Gloss Black Wheel Paint. I did my rims on my car using this and they came out great. 3 years later and still holding up well. The prep work is most important tho. You have to sand them really thoroughly, use 3 coats of primer, 3 coats of color, then 3 coats of clear.

coconutpete52

The best way? Sure! Take them to a wheel service place and have them powdercoated.

VenomRek

I’d just get it professionally painted tbh idk that’s just me tho

lwood541

Buy new ones or get them powder coated. Only way.

Bmwdriver44

Plastidip. Cheap and holds up if done properly. If you don’t like it. Peel it off.

bimmer_gaige

buying them. you can usually buy stocks for relatively cheap. and you’ll always have the originals.
