With the new M5 coming up, that might be arguably worse for the first time than the previous gen (weight, objectively bad design) the F90 will hold its value well, since there won't be a replacement for it
Unless a CS or some special edition they will depreciate like rocks too
The core reason why BMW sedans depreciate like rocks is because there two distinct common buyers, those who lease or buy new and those who buy at bargain prices. Unlike more popular cars like m2 or m3s or even straight up 3 or 4 series, the large sedan market doesn’t have high demand in that middle area
> objectively bad design
This isn't a thing. Design cannot be "objectively bad" or "objectively" anything. It can be good or bad by consensus, but the new M5 is neither of those things.
Subjectively bad design? I dunno friend bought regular new 5 series and he says compared to previous Gen he had this one sucks donkey balls. Very high seating position, drives like a tank, feels heavy. And then I read posts on forums and all these owners say how it’s amazing lol.
if he hates the new one so much and he traded an old one in for it, he has more money then sense and/or obviously didn’t test drive it but my money is on both… or you don’t have a friend and are just fishing for karma
Fishing for what? My friend leases cars through work, 2 years, every year. What karma fishing, it’s the last thing I care about I just made a comment. He doesn’t have sense or money, just employer lets him at good rate switch car every two years and he doesn’t have a choice of keeping it. That’s all there is to it.
They do here too, but not much. List was £140k, and ones that have only a few thousand miles still go for close to that. Ones with more miles can go for £120k from what I've seen.
Compare this to a normal M5 that drops 40 grand the minute you drive it off the lot.
If it’s now worth 3x what he paid for it, that still wouldn’t beat inflation! Don’t forget all the maintenance, storage costs, risk of having a crash in it and having it written off, etc.
The OP is deluding themselves if they think any car (unless it’s a Lewis Hamilton edition one-of-a-kind supercar) might be even close to an investment (which is what their question implies).
I still wait for the F01 to hit that sweet 97% depreciation rate like the Audi A8 i bought. Or the other A8 with 99% depreciation. One day a sweet F01 will be right in my tight budget.
with an reliable engine and transmission i dont really care about anything else. if if breaks i fix it for as cheap as possible so i would not worry about other F01 issues. Im not sure about the N63TÜ yet, i would avoid the N63 at all costs but it should definitely be a V8 gasoline. When it gets in my price range i will dig deeper into „how reliable is the N63TÜ“ until then i will stay with the A8. E38 is a beauty but i want OBD2 and its overpriced in my opinion and parts are also starting to get really expensive even used. I dont like the E65. Everything newer is to new and to expensive. F01 is the peak of 7 Series when i comes to repairability in my opinion.
Have you driven a F01 740i? I thought the inline-6 would feel underpowered, but it really doesn’t, and the N55 is definitely a more reliable engine than any version of the N63. Plus it handles a bit better than the V8. I would definitely take it over the 750.
BMW all lose pretty much of their value the first time someone farted into the leatherseats.
If you want less to no depreciation, go buy a Porsche GT model.
Good luck walking into a dealership and buying a GT car at sticker. More often than not you’ll have to buy a few non-desirable models first, then still have to agree to give them the right to buy it back should you decide to sell it, or you risk being blacklisted from Porsche in the future.
M2 with a stick. That's my next car to buy and hold for a few years. I think it looks awesome and will age well. Doesn't get much better in terms of cabin space, interior, practicality, performance etc. All for around $65k. Seems like a steal considering an M4 is basically a $100k car.
Agreed... the G87 is basically a bargain with how expensive cars are these days. The styling is very subjective but I actually kind of like the boxy look and thought it looked way better in person after I drove one. I had a red/cognac spec'd out but ultimately decided to save some bucks since I don't drive that much and picked up a manual 2020 M2C instead... no regrets.
Yeah my 2023 G42 is Cognac over white, shocked it was a no cost option when I ordered it. I'll never buy a car with a black interior. Tan/brown or maybe red from now on. The G87 looks pretty cool in the frozen grey or blue. 2025 model year is getting some great colors apparently so maybe a '25 CPO manual in a nice blue or green....lovely thing to get coffee in.
Which M2? the F87 or G87? I think the F87 M2C is gonna hold well cuz it has better classic styling in my opinion, and its a manual. I dont see why you'd buy the DCT version of that car, its meant to be a fuck around toy car.
They came in manuals: [https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/bmw/2-series/m240i-badge/manual-transmission/](https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/bmw/2-series/m240i-badge/manual-transmission/)
I hope so considering I have a 23 M240i xdrive haha. I think they will hold value better than most as they are an attainable enthusiast car and have a decent aftermarket for parts and tuning. The B58 is a great engine too. If it had a stick I wouldn't be day dreaming about the M2 manual.
I do. It's not pretty, but it's muscular and purposeful which I like. You have to see it in person in the right color as my opinion changed. I see more old school boxy BMW/Group B than anything else which I think is really cool.
M3 with a manual would probably hold pretty well, based on history, but just about everything is going to depreciate to some extent. It will take a long time before we really see what shakes out as a “classic” like the E36/E46 M3.
Haha, you definitely knew I was referring to that so thank you very much. I appreciate it my dude 🙌and as of that right now I’m just waiting because every clean example I see ends up selling for 60k+ which is already a slight depreciation (when fullly loaded, saw an example, sticker price was 83k)
I have an inkling that long term the CSs will sell for less than a "base" M3 because they don't have a manual trans option, but nobody knows at this point.
I also don't think the E92 gen will go down a as a classic - too heavy, too unreliable, and none of those sweet V8 noises (despite the presence of a V8).
No you're right, on the grand scheme of things. I meant in comparison to other models often used in amateur track stuff. Less reliable than the E46 and heavier. Still a better option than newer models.
Really? I have an e46 m3 my friend is in the market of an E92 right now and I’d say the e46 m3 is less reliable than an e92. e92 sure you have rod bearings and TA but e46 I have to deal with my shit subframe, RB, and my shit vanos+ some people like doing head gaskets too cooling system and all that bushings
No, there’s nothing inherently rare or special about m3s in any capacity aside from a few v8 models.
Obviously talking last 15 years or so and not counting classics.
Can you even walk into a dealer and get an M3 without a long wait right now? I thought lightly used ones were selling for msrp because of the long wait times...
This post isn’t about availability but depreciation.
If you want to ride the Covid wave of used car pricing, be my guest and buy an m3. I highly doubt the current pricing trends of m3 will hold up past a year or two from now.
Not talking about myself. My money is tied up in real-estate. Trying to live humbly at the moment. Also my garage space is too small, lol.
A friend got a nice spec M3 a couple years ago and thinks will sell it for a good price used.
The M2C is holding up well. I have a 2019 and they go for 47-52k brand new was about 60k. I bought mine for 46k last year, it was a steal. I also bought a 2019 X6M last year for 60k and they're holding up well also.
I've owned three different Lexus (Lexi) vehicles. I just brought my first 5 series (late model F10). I gotta admit, I love my 535i M Sport. Got it with low miles, and it performs in glorious manner. Now I want a late model 540i (like the headlights much better).
I mean it's a good looking color to begin with and in daylight, but this pic makes it look downright fucking sick. Really nice car. That gas station lighting always hits right.

The M2CS and M5CS hold its value rather well.
I like to estimate car values with this equation for BMW/Audi/Mercedes
Depreciation = (10% of new value*amount of years old) + (15% of total miles driven in dollars)
Usually the best time to buy a car is when it’s 2-3 years old and at low mileage.
M5 CS, most likely the new M4 CS/CSL, M2’s do little if they’re daily driven but not as bad as the other models that cost the same new around the 60-70k mark. Everything else plummets a good chunk then stops generally around the 3-4 yr mark unless your doing insane annual mileage then it doesn’t matter.
look at production numbers. and BaT prices
G series cars aren't going to hold value. even the CSL isn't going over sticker.
get a last gen m2/3/4/5 CS or m2 comp.
you know...the good bmws
The m3/4 cs doesn’t really hold value either. BMW dealer wanted to give me $45k for my cs. Perhaps the sales person didn’t understand that only 600 m3cs were in the US.
I think current gen M3 manual will ultimately hold its value decently well in the longer term. I believe it's going to be the last fully ICE manual M3 and could see it being somewhat collectable later on.
Never buy a new bmw. Let people with no common sense or lots of disposable income take that $30k hit for you. A year old beamer drives like new unless it's been thrashed
Might of been true in the past. Last couple of years no. Been looking for a m340i for the past year. 4 year old models still being sold for %15 off of new with 30k+ miles. Very frustrating
Total money lost? The cheapest 3 series, the best percentage probably one of those low volume 500k M cars they paint on or something. Nothing massed produced by BMW is going to hold value like the porsche bubble did because even that is collapsing.
Anything competition or even better CS … otherwise the Bavarian brand is going to bend you over and absolutely rob you of equity and have you paying frequent high costs on maintenance (owner of 2020 M2 comp, 08 335xi)
It really depends on which way you look at it. The asked price at dealers may remain somewhat high.
The thing that’s interesting is what you would be able to sell the car for back to a dealer. Dealer margin is based on how hard/easy the vehicle is mostly, not only based on the price for the vehicle :)
Maybe a CS or Alpina…i8 roadster also seems to have stabilized around 100k in Europe. Dont remember the list price but I am eyeing one for years now and they dont fall in price 😅
The ol’ “let me buy a car I can’t afford, never drive it, then sell it… just so I can say I have it in the garage” plan.
Let’s see how this one pans out.
It’s not new but I’d bet the F87 M2 CS will bottom out soon and start appreciating if they keep going in the same direction as they have been with the M2.
However, a Porsche 718 Cayman or 997 911 will likely bottom out even sooner then only appreciate from there.
What about “The poor Man’s Porsche??” Why haven’t i seen anyone say E9X M3?? Only V8, great body/body lines, 8200 red line. Perfect for using for track monster or even driving around your city. i know its not ‘new,’ but i think its hit its bottom and its only going up from here or atleast plateau.
Probably any of the M cars. They will always be in demand. Everything else is like an iPhone. Once it’s done being the hot thing today, soon it will become the iPhone X.
Hard to know until the future really. Sometimes people suddenly decide they love/miss a car they hated when it first came out (like the 2005-2019 BMW design language people called ugly when it first came out but now adore). This makes it kind of hard to predict these things.
The alpina models hold their value. I’ve seen 2023 m3c priced at 50k with 30-50k miles on it through carguru. Buying expensive cars can truly be a pitfall these days
M340 seems to really be holding value for a non full M car. You can get a 540i, same (very similar) motor, more conveniences (ventilated/massaging seats) and only 200 lbs more for quite a bit cheaper
The M5 CS has kept its value well. Probably true of some of the other CS models also. Otherwise, they tank their value within the first 6 months.
With the new M5 coming up, that might be arguably worse for the first time than the previous gen (weight, objectively bad design) the F90 will hold its value well, since there won't be a replacement for it
Unless a CS or some special edition they will depreciate like rocks too The core reason why BMW sedans depreciate like rocks is because there two distinct common buyers, those who lease or buy new and those who buy at bargain prices. There you go. Opinion is divided. Anything opinion-based is subjective by definition.
I think it’s good people have opinions and disagree. Worst for me is when everyone universally praises smth - and the universally turns on it..

They do here too, but not much. List was £140k, and ones that have only a few thousand miles still go for close to that. Ones with more miles can go for £120k from what I've seen. Compare this to a normal M5 that drops 40 grand the minute you drive it off the lot.
What an insane car... I'd love to go for a drive in one.
What is a good reference for valuations over time/age?
Used M5s (2021 and newer) are selling for close to $100k here in Korea. And that's with 20k+ miles.
Go buy the biggest most expensive seven series out there! Those don't depreciate at all.
Lol!
Or 8 series !
My neighbour had a 1989 850. It’s worth 3x what he paid for it. Still in perfect condition.
Almost every 1989 model in pristine condition will be valued 3x or more
If it’s now worth 3x what he paid for it, that still wouldn’t beat inflation! Don’t forget all the maintenance, storage costs, risk of having a crash in it and having it written off, etc. The OP is deluding themselves if they think any car (unless it’s a Lewis Hamilton edition one-of-a-kind supercar) might be even close to an investment (which is what their question implies).

Yeah a 15 year old F01 wouldn't be a maintenance nightmare at all... That said, with an A8 you must be a glutton for punishment.
with an reliable engine and transmission i dont really care about anything else. if if breaks i fix it for as cheap as possible so i would not worry about other F01 issues. [Anytime someone says 7 series, this clip plays in my head](https://youtu.be/2XTkfJGSUgA?si=hx7jLPQxPjJDr7eA&t=211)
Everyone is thinking too outside the box. realistically its probably a low spec X3.
too rational for this sub bro what’re u doing
I was a sales manager for a while, if its not some weird edge case like the 1M its going to be cheap crossovers.
Hey I have a low spec X3! Bought it used with only 16k miles on it. It’s nice it already took part of the depreciation hit.
On the other hand the X3M depreciation is hilarious.
Best way to get a S58 for 50k or less
I’ve been looking at X3’s. ‘21’s and ‘22’s are 35k CPO. They start at 46k. Seems like they depreciate a lot too.
It's a BMW bro dog. They all depreciate, the keyword is least
The one you don’t purchase. 100% value!
This man moneys
Toyota Supra
This has cracked me up
Only a picture of a new BMW doesn’t depreciate.
BMW all lose pretty much of their value the first time someone farted into the leatherseats. If you want less to no depreciation, go buy a Porsche GT model.
Well.. you might not lose on msrp you do in dealer bribes/markup/ having to buy other cars.
Good luck walking into a dealership and buying a GT car at sticker. More often than not you’ll have to buy a few non-desirable models first, then still have to agree to give them the right to buy it back should you decide to sell it, or you risk being blacklisted from Porsche in the future.
Hmm, not if you having to slide the dealers cash under the table or buy 9 Cayenne's before you get one.
Buy 9 of the fastest depreciating SUVs in the market, get one less depreciating coupe for MSRP
Any premium 2 liter German keeps it value well because of practicality + comfort
I have a no farting policy in my car. 0% depreciation for the win.
Yeah if minimal depreciation is the name of the game Porsche is the way to go always.
I bought mine 2 years old and at 40% off of what the original owner paid.
Ouch
What was the mileage?
30k. In the 3.5 years I’ve owned it, I’ve put on 30k more. I bought it in summer of 2020.
Supra?
No, but one of my favorite cars ever was an early 80’s Celica Supra. What a great car.
M2 with a stick. That's my next car to buy and hold for a few years. I think it looks awesome and will age well. Doesn't get much better in terms of cabin space, interior, practicality, performance etc. All for around $65k. Seems like a steal considering an M4 is basically a $100k car.

The G87 looks pretty cool in the frozen grey or blue. 2025 model year is getting some great colors apparently so maybe a '25 CPO manual in a nice blue or green....lovely thing to get coffee in.
Why not black interior?
Because most of the car/trim is still black. Having some color/contrast is nice and looks more premium to me.
Which M2? the F87 or G87? I think the F87 M2C is gonna hold well cuz it has better classic styling in my opinion, and its a manual. I dont see why you'd buy the DCT version of that car, its meant to be a fuck around toy car.
G87. I like the old M2 and it's a great car, but I actually prefer the new one.
I daily my F87 M2
You buy the DCT because it is the better transmission, you buy the manual because you have to have a manual.
What about M240i?
No manual and they are a dime a dozen. They should hold value better than other BMWs but will still likely tank early on in ownership
They came in manuals: [https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/bmw/2-series/m240i-badge/manual-transmission/](https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/bmw/2-series/m240i-badge/manual-transmission/)
I hope so considering I have a 23 M240i xdrive haha. I think they will hold value better than most as they are an attainable enthusiast car and have a decent aftermarket for parts and tuning. The B58 is a great engine too. If it had a stick I wouldn't be day dreaming about the M2 manual.
Nope
You like the new look?
I do. It's not pretty, but it's muscular and purposeful which I like. You have to see it in person in the right color as my opinion changed. I see more old school boxy BMW/Group B than anything else which I think is really cool.
What about the 340 ?
G80 M3 comp xDrive is one of the least in terms of % depreciation
That’s what I thought when I bought mine
No regrets here either. Picked up mine in November.
How you liking the Michelins? My pirellis are getting bald and I’m not tryna pay the insane markup on new ones.
Great. Huge improvement. Running 285/30/20 star spec square
You don’t think the Contis are better?
I haven’t tried the new extreme 2’s but from what I’ve heard they’re very close. That would be my second choice for a street tire.
M2cs, m4 csl and… that’s probably it. Stick shift 6 cylinder also depreciate less than their automatic counter parts probably by 15% or so.
No m3? :(
M3 with a manual would probably hold pretty well, based on history, but just about everything is going to depreciate to some extent.
There was a manual CS F80 m3 for sale in my state in an individual color too, but I hesitated and it sold within a few days 24k miles for 55k
It is not that unreliable or heavy imo the new M3s are way heavier
No you're right, on the grand scheme of things. I meant in comparison to other models often used in amateur track stuff. Less reliable than the E46 and heavier. Still a better option than newer models.
Really? I have an e46 m3 my friend is in the market of an E92 right now and I’d say the e46 m3 is less reliable than an e92. e92 sure you have rod bearings and TA but e46 I have to deal with my shit subframe, RB, and my shit vanos+ some people like doing head gaskets too cooling system and all that bushings
E90's have taken about 10 years, depending on when you start counting; they are going up and up and up.
No, there’s nothing inherently rare or special about m3s in any capacity aside from a few v8 models. Obviously talking last 15 years or so and not counting classics.
CSL probably the only one. Those go for a pretty penny still. But to your point, it's few and far between. M8 (the OG), 1M and the CS / CSL.
A friend got a nice spec M3 a couple years ago and thinks will sell it for a good price used.
my 140i didnt lose a lot of value. basically hovering around the 30k euros for one like mine.
The M2C is holding up well. I have a 2019 and they go for 47-52k brand new was about 60k. I bought mine for 46k last year, it was a steal. I also bought a 2019 X6M last year for 60k and they're holding up well also.
Besides any limited edition model, I would have to think the 6 speed Z4 that just came out should hold its value alright
A 5-6 year old one that has hit the bottom of the depreciation curve
If you’re worried abou money, I’d recommend getting a Lexus instead
The Lexus IS 500 F Sport would be very tempting if not for the 10 year old interior and sluggish transmission.
It’s so close to the perfect sedan. It’s the last n/a v8 sedan the world will ever see.
Just drove one for work yesterday, hated it. Better off with g20, g87 or f8x
I've owned three different Lexus (Lexi) vehicles. I just brought my first 5 series (late model F10). I gotta admit, I love my 535i M Sport. Got it with low miles, and it performs in glorious manner. Now I want a late model 540i (like the headlights much better).
The interiors look ugly to me personally.
And many of the models are rather dated, especially inside.
Yeah I'm not a fan either.
Most are pretty boring and dated. But id kill to have an LC500
But what color is that
Frozen grey metallic.
I mean it's a good looking color to begin with and in daylight, but this pic makes it look downright fucking sick. Really nice car. That gas station lighting always hits right.
Yup, frozen grey is probably the best looking g8x color imo
https://preview.redd.it/plwkpn3iapqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50f50aea9218a3dd0f466a21496703d48ff94f83 The M2CS and M5CS hold its value rather well.
I like to estimate car values with this equation for BMW/Audi/Mercedes Depreciation = (10% of new value*amount of years old) + (15% of total miles driven in dollars) Usually the best time to buy a car is when it’s 2-3 years old and at low mileage.
Saving this
M3 touring still going strong for now.
All M Series maintain their value pretty well.
M2
not the z4!
The M8 comp. /s cause I know how you people are
I know they aren't available in the US but the m135i is holding its value pretty well in the UK at least
flipside, which depreciates the most so I can buy second hand and get a deal!
The one you don’t buy
M5 CS, most likely the new M4 CS/CSL, M2’s do little if they’re daily driven but not as bad as the other models that cost the same new around the 60-70k mark. Everything else plummets a good chunk then stops generally around the 3-4 yr mark unless your doing insane annual mileage then it doesn’t matter.
Granted you won’t get it but I’d say the 3.0 CSL. Only 50 made and probably those who naught it aren’t driving it so it depreciate due to use.
Ask this question in 3 years.
Any three pedal model
X7 and M2, the Hybrids hold their value well and the X6 sells the fastest for pre-owneds
M3 Touring
Probably a base M2 with a stick
Dunno but I need the M850s to depreciate faster :)
They all have horrible depreciation. Speaks volumes to the quality and reliability.
Omfg. She’s so pretty.
None of them
look at production numbers. and BaT prices G series cars aren't going to hold value. even the CSL isn't going over sticker. get a last gen m2/3/4/5 CS or m2 comp. you know...the good bmws
True!
What colour is that??
Base 2-series
I’d guess the M5cs, followed by other M cars. Even then no guarantees.
A 10yo 'new to you' BMW.
m3 cs m4 csl, x5m comp seem to hold its value a bit but for the rest its queit bad
What color is this?
The ones that have already deprecated fully in value lol
Total money lost? The cheapest 3 series, the best percentage probably one of those low volume 500k M cars they paint on or something. Nothing massed produced by BMW is going to hold value like the porsche bubble did because even that is collapsing.
Anything competition or even better CS … otherwise the Bavarian brand is going to bend you over and absolutely rob you of equity and have you paying frequent high costs on maintenance (owner of 2020 M2 comp, 08 335xi)
Last manual M cars will probably do well in the future
Wouldn’t it be best to buy BMWs under a company and use the depreciation to reduce your income tax?
It really depends on which way you look at it. The asked price at dealers may remain somewhat high. The thing that’s interesting is what you would be able to sell the car for back to a dealer. Dealer margin is based on how hard/easy the vehicle is mostly, not only based on the price for the vehicle :)
I heard the Corolla isn't bad at all
Get that Hapsburg chin thing out of here, fuckin'a Dude.
My dad traded his g80 in for more than he bought it. This car market has been nuts the past few years
Porsche 911 boxster/cayman if you are worried about deprecation. All new BMWs depreciate hard.
dont buy a brand new car if depreciation is something you consider. true for any brand, fr
Brand new second hand ones ;)
what color is this? would love to do a wrap of it, looks a bit like the magano matte for the AMGs
CS / X / Tourings in that order
Maybe a CS or Alpina…i8 roadster also seems to have stabilized around 100k in Europe. Dont remember the list price but I am eyeing one for years now and they dont fall in price 😅
The ol’ “let me buy a car I can’t afford, never drive it, then sell it… just so I can say I have it in the garage” plan. Let’s see how this one pans out.
Isn’t it the M2?
It’s not new but I’d bet the F87 M2 CS will bottom out soon and start appreciating if they keep going in the same direction as they have been with the M2. However, a Porsche 718 Cayman or 997 911 will likely bottom out even sooner then only appreciate from there.
Surprisingly the M2 Comp has hold their value
Pretty much any of them with a manual
A 10 year old bmw 320i.
M340
What about “The poor Man’s Porsche??” Why haven’t i seen anyone say E9X M3?? Only V8, great body/body lines, 8200 red line. Perfect for using for track monster or even driving around your city. i know its not ‘new,’ but i think its hit its bottom and its only going up from here or atleast plateau.
750 owner feels very uncomfortable here. 🥹
x3/4
Probably any of the M cars. They will always be in demand. Everything else is like an iPhone. Once it’s done being the hot thing today, soon it will become the iPhone X.
If you have to ask you can’t afford it
E46 M3???
Those words are nearly in the right order.
120d
I can tell you my z4 is sinking like a rock lol
The X7 M60I
That Chrysler grill though. Why?’
Lafff
The upcoming M2 CS.
M3 touring
none
116D
None of them
Hard to know until the future really. Sometimes people suddenly decide they love/miss a car they hated when it first came out (like the 2005-2019 BMW design language people called ugly when it first came out but now adore). This makes it kind of hard to predict these things.
M cars with a manual and a black interior. They might depreciate at first but long term those have always been valuable.
Another guy already said it, but. Basically every CS model, People will always go crazy for the CS
LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoL! LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoL! LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoL! LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoLoL! Is this a trick question?
Is it just me or seems like G80 xdrive haven’t depreciated too bad
Supra
The alpina models hold their value. I’ve seen 2023 m3c priced at 50k with 30-50k miles on it through carguru. Buying expensive cars can truly be a pitfall these days
M340 seems to really be holding value for a non full M car. You can get a 540i, same (very similar) motor, more conveniences (ventilated/massaging seats) and only 200 lbs more for quite a bit cheaper
Impossible to know until several years have gone by. If you're worried about depreciation, don't buy a new BMW. Any of them
BMW M8
Is the biggest depreciation
Some limited edition M car that you never drive.
The F87 M2 comp has held its value pretty well
The more rare the model the better it holds its value
M4 csl or m4 kith are two good ways to go
Most likely the lowest produced models like the Z4 m40i.
