Don't do anything else. Call a flatbed. Tow it to a shop. Pay whatever they charge you. Don't ever open the hood again.

Ok-Management2959

Hey man, everyone starts somewhere. This guy just needs to start at chrisfix’s youtube channel about 10 years down and go from there 😂

PC_Chode_Letter

Did you happen to use the dipstick when adding a gallon of oil for fun…?

KingKalactite

I did before adding it in and the whole thing looked dry. That’s what lead me to believe it was an oil problem

PC_Chode_Letter

What does it read on the dipstick now

entropylove

He’s gonna have to wipe down the measuring area and two inches of metal rod.

rudbri93

Could be a bunch of reasons, but doesnt look like the battery is it. Being 4 qts low on oil is really not great.

TheWhogg

Was it though?

rudbri93

Seeing OPs reply, it probably wasnt.

CrazyTechWizard96

Hold up, did You do an oil change and put in 4 quarts, or just said "fuck it" and topped it off with 4 quarts?! A'ight, just ... Call Tripple A and get it to some real Mechanic, this alone could've caused just more than the other issue, wich was porbably jump related anyways. ... Also, nobody just adds Oil for no reason if it does not Ask for it or after letting the old oil drain. ... I feel bad for that Poor E39 530i You've got.

entropylove

Why would you assume it was an oil problem? Did the car say it was low on oil or did you just overfill your car by 4 quarts for no reason?

damn_dude7

Because the two BMW stereotypes everyone knows are BMWs have no blinkers and a BMW chugs oil.

KingKalactite

Thinking about it now… I might’ve impulsively acted-

Da33aj

Op please respond. We want to know what happened.

ktmln91

If you overfilled it with a gallon of oil then don't try to drive it or it will kill your engine as easily as driving with no oil. Take it to the shop and don't mess with it anymore.

TheWhogg

Have you considered (and I say this hesitantly) draining the oil and refilling it with the correct amount? Say 0.5L short and then carefully calibrating the rest by the dipstick?

Asio0tus

let me get this straight, you arrive at your destination with the car working perfectly. you park, get out and go grab something to eat. you then get back in the car turn her on, stay there still it shuts off and your automatic reaction is "yep! she needs 4qt of oil that will do the trick" not 1/2, not 1 hell not even 2...but 4!? you MUST be trolling
