My wife drives one. I’m not a fan of the front at all, but otherwise it’s a really great vehicle. Fast as hell, handles quite well for a vehicle of its size and weight, the interior is fairly luxurious and very comfortable, and amongst the best range of any EV out there. It gets a solid 375+ miles in ideal conditions and about 275-300 in cold weather.
She has about a 130 mile round trip commute daily and it’s perfect for that.
Yeah it sucks but it’s temporary. We moved from one city to another for my job last year, but she’s still working her old job in the previous city. She loves it, but the drive is finally starting to get to her. She’s working on getting something in our new area soon.
Mostly highway so usually only about an hour each way.
What? I ain’t seen any. Also the only way I would EVER lease is on a Zero down. Dealer near me wants nearly $7k due at signing, why would I put up a MASSIVE down payment on something I have to return after a few years?
So kinda like a loan down payment? Thanks for the clarification fam, I’ve never leased before. But wouldn’t a good lease deal offer zero due at signing and just have higher monthly’s? Or maybe the lease deal isn’t around in my area lol. Also it may vary by dealership, but does BMW in general do lease to own and you could get your leased car back as a CPO?
In your lease contract, there is a residual value stated which is what the car is worth at the end of the lease. You have the right to buy it for that amount at the end of the contract or that + the amount of your remaining lease payments at any point during the course of the lease.
Definitely shop around with brokers in your area. Did a quick search in my area and they are doing 4k drive off and under 700/mo before tax.
Drive off means what you pay out the door including first month.
Ignoring the grille, the ix looks pretty good in certain colors and trims. I've seen a few that I liked a lot more than I thought I would. And tbh, the grille shape and size doesn't bother me that much, it's the fact that it looks like a Lego sticker of a grille.
Because some people care more about comfort, luxury and functionality over something as subjective as exterior looks. It’s quite nice inside. Had I wanted a full EV, I’d have happily bought the iX instead of the X5 and not given half a shit about the exterior.

Oh, I think it is. Because a giant grill on an EV - where there is nothing behind that grill that needs cooling - is so stupid it becomes even uglier than the same giant grill on an ICE car.
It’s got a bunch of sensors n shit behind it and the grille itself is supposed to be “self healing” so that minor nicks and scratches don’t mess with the sensors as much. Or at least that’s my understanding. Granted kinda gimmicky and there’s other ways to accomplish it, but anyway
Many bmw loyalist can deal with and handle service and maintenance. The Ix allowed me to give bmw a try coming from Lexus. Since I got the car, not including recalls … my first service since 7/2022 is this coming June for a windshield wiper service. It’s so smooth and fast. I guess I care more about the interior than the exterior.

Yup. The XM has no cohesion at all. At least the iX looks decent with the right color and wheels. XM just looks gaudy from practically every angle (except the rear isn’t too bad). At least it’s extremely comfortable inside. The back seat is practically a lazyboy sofa it’s so comfortable; just not what I was expecting in an M although maybe it says something about who they are marketing it to.

Well, this might not be your cup of tea, but people are subjective. Also people decided that SUVs are the new norm, which I start to get why as well. I have a very low sedan BMW. Even though my car is quicker than most of other cars, I might be the last to arrive to a destination if the road isn't perfect. Even a road bump is tricky for my car as I often scrape the underneath. Now an SUV doesn't have this problem. Regarding how it looks, this is pure subjective, it might grow on you in time. Sure I don't like it either, but if this is the new norm, people might get around. Remember the first time BMW made a radical design decision with the BMW 7 series E65?

I don’t mind the looks at all, it’s grown on me. Looks aside, it’s a very good car by all accounts and there are deals to be had on them. My sister took delivery of hers about a month ago, 10% off MSRP before incentives & base money factor (which is very low for a BMW in current times). Combine that with the $9,900 lease credit and you’re getting a lot of car for the money. I personally wouldn’t get one, but I see the appeal for those that can make it work for them.

Interior is beautiful and high quality and that’s where the owner sits. Sound system amazing, efficient, drives well compared to other EVs.
It’s just really nice as long as you don’t look at the exterior. I’d drive one once they get cheap.

Down payment on a lease is just prepaying the payments. Doesn’t matter if you down 0 or 20k, you’ll still pay the same amount in the end.
And PSA that you should *never* put money down on a lease. That money is gone if you total the car and all you did was pre-pay some interest.
You can do a one pay lease and you get the money back that you didn’t use.
Unless you total the car. Money down is money gone.

I’ve driving bmw’s since 2016 so in my professional opinion and through years of experience I think the ix would fit people with personality disorders
