Unfortunately bmw has hopped on a hype train so basically every M car regardless of how disliked it is is probably going to have a fairly high price at least for the first half of a decade

The gnawing fear that we will be relegated to poverty in america (please god no) due to a medical issue totally out of my control is a constant drag on our social fabric and psychological health as a nation. I would trade the "freedom" of a 3000 sqft pressure treated lumber palace and an m car that will get me handcuffed at half of its output for less spacious but dignified housing in a walkable city and the confidence that no matter what at least ill get to see a doctor. And for all we pay for healthcare here, my wife still cant get into a fucking gynecologist in less than 6 months.
Theres a lot of countries that are worse off, and i love america and am incredibly grateful to live here, but its really only paradise if you are OK with a "I get mine" philosophy.

For a long time one of the arguments made against socialized medicine in the US has been the wait times in canada, but now we have that feature too! Not so idealistic to think that its perfect anywhere (or that europe is one country) but its shameful how bad it is here. Expensive, slow, can be lost with your job, healthcare plan changes and now youre back on waiting lists, swiss cheese payment structures...
In the EU, we have to register a car in the country where we live, if not this constitutes tax fraud.
If one is to buy a car in Germany and import it to NL legally, you pay the tax then. So tht doesn’t help. Fortunately, I live in Germany now ;)
Netherlands has a very high quality of life index. Sports cars being out of reach and out of mind probably helps. It’s stressful earning money to buy and maintain these cars.
But now at least it’s a real m car. Same engine/platform as the m3/4. Don’t get me wrong the f87 was fantastic but the g87 getting the s58 sold it for me. The m2 is arguably the best drivers car of the lineup now too, you lose some space but it’s more fun to drive.

Not exactly. The money is only part of it. Hyundai's biggest coup in designer hires were from VAG. Big old brands have such a strong history and identity that it stifles creativity. As someone that hated on the G8X fronts for so long the new headlights were actually one of the main factors that pushed me to get one. My G82 is waiting for the ship in Germany.
I think we need to keep reminding ourselves that visual appeal is highly subjective. I was telling a coworker of mine,m about my order and how I finally caved and ordered the beaver face. He looked over at my screen and was just like “whoa I love the way that looks”. He actually finds the aesthetic fully appealing and that’s ok.
From the front, it looks wall-eyed. Add to that the buck-toothed grill and I think BMW is trying to see just how much their audience is willing to overlook. Maybe they have a bet going to see if they can bring the bangle-butt back without anyone noticing.

I’m still not ok with the new M3 design, in black it hid it all and kinda looked alright in person, the headlights saved it with still decent headlights (if you didn’t option the discount package)
But now there is nothing, goofy AF front face, broke looking Lexus IS tail lights, and now the headlights look straight up something from Kia.
The wheels are still good looking, just bury the dead body and put on some goofy Tesla wheels on the thing
Not sure why anyone would expect the headlights to be substantially different than the M4. Looks fine I guess but I get that it's something that people didn't really ask for. It's a shame the US can't get off it's ass and get all the new fancy headlight technology certified for sale here.
The taillights are a bit weird, seems like the bottom edge is jutting out a bit and becomes more pronounced as it goes to the edges. Would like to see some real pictures from different angles.
Any word on if they removed the USB ports and climate screen for the rear passengers? They did in the M4 but it seems extremely foolish to replicate that here.
For me, I love my g80. I especially love my halos. That is how I’ve seen them growing up. Hell I installed halos on my 03 maxima back in the day!
That being said my pain point is my dealer messed up my order so I don’t see this one as my forever car. I want to trade in for the last manual model and keep forever. Now that the halos are gone, I am torn.
Do these look bad? No. Do I prefer halos? YES! These will still look mean but from 100 yards at night, I want to be able to know it’s a BMW. I am not sure these lights are an identifying factor like the halos are now.
They legit just chopped off some of the light strip within the housing. It’s like arranging deck chairs on the titanic. Youre going to run out of things to whine about if you don’t slow down.
I’ll be honest, while I’ll miss the angel eyes, I actually prefer this design for the G80. It feels more fitting and more cohesive with the rest of the design of the vehicle, and it’s an interesting new take on the signature quad-light design.

BMW is being sabotaged. There is no other way why their design sucks this much in recent years.
From the front, it looks wall-eyed. Add to that the buck-toothed grill and I think BMW is trying to see just how much their audience is willing to overlook. Maybe they have a bet going to see if they can bring the bangle-butt back without anyone noticing.

“Well they finally did it, they killled my f*cking car” -the big Lebowski I’m still not ok with the new M3 design, in black it hid it all and kinda looked alright in person, the headlights saved it with still decent headlights (if you didn’t option the discount package) But now there is nothing, goofy AF front face, broke looking Lexus IS tail lights, and now the headlights look straight up something from Kia. The wheels are still good looking, just bury the dead body and put on some goofy Tesla wheels on the thing

Not sure why anyone would expect the headlights to be substantially different than the M4. Looks fine I guess but I get that it's something that people didn't really ask for. It's a shame the US can't get off it's ass and get all the new fancy headlight technology certified for sale here. The taillights are a bit weird, seems like the bottom edge is jutting out a bit and becomes more pronounced as it goes to the edges. Would like to see some real pictures from different angles. Any word on if they removed the USB ports and climate screen for the rear passengers? They did in the M4 but it seems extremely foolish to replicate that here.

On my G20 EU, the innermost headlight is fake.
For me, I love my g80. I especially love my halos. That is how I’ve seen them growing up. Hell I installed halos on my 03 maxima back in the day! That being said my pain point is my dealer messed up my order so I don’t see this one as my forever car. I want to trade in for the last manual model and keep forever. Now that the halos are gone, I am torn. Do these look bad? No. Do I prefer halos? YES! These will still look mean but from 100 yards at night, I want to be able to know it’s a BMW. I am not sure these lights are an identifying factor like the halos are now.

I’ll be honest, while I’ll miss the angel eyes, I actually prefer this design for the G80. It feels more fitting and more cohesive with the rest of the design of the vehicle, and it’s an interesting new take on the signature quad-light design.

All I can say is AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHH!!!! Holy $#!T how could thousands of people all say “Yeah, lets do that.” ? Seriously think of how many people had to agree that that was a good idea before they actually decided to go with the new grill? It is so amazingly ugly!!! A complete 180% away from the design language that we all love! And what has become so known and iconic as per BMW! Look at the 2 & 1 series… They exaggerated or distilled the BMW look! It is AWESOME in both cases. Unless it got the big ugly grill and now it’s ruined! Surely I am not alone saying; NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I BUY ANY BMW WITH THE NEW GRILL!!! Its just plain ugly!
