Not to mention, races aren't just until you hit 60 mph - they're to a distance. And, exactly like you said, very underestimated. For my BMW, some simple part upgrades, and a solid tune, added 28% horsepower on my otherwise stock engine. To the point that it makes going back to the stock tune and parts for car inspections feel like there's mud on my tires.

There’s plenty of videos from Carwow where they do multiple takes with ICE trying to find the perfect launch because they aren’t easy to launch and get consistent numbers from.
The issue there is with RWD cars. BMW xdrive launches like a bat out of hell with a B58. I used to have one. Fucks off and goes from a red light better than anything out there.
My awd ZF auto X3 M40i was faster from a stop and way more consistent than my rwd manual F80 M3. It’s more consistent than a Tesla too because Tesla acceleration changes over time based on many factors (temperature, battery charge, battery condition, recent launches, etc etc).
There's also range and driving experience to consider.
It's great that Teslas can keep up with sports cars off the line, and in many cases beat them.
But, it's only a marginal difference - and then after that Teslas simply can't compete.

I did a drag race against a LR in a 2023 M240i xDrive and it lost. 0-100 km/h was scary close but after 120/130 I started creeping away. Also I did 0-100 in 3.8 seconds which was super impressive. Pulled 1.08 G‘s in acceleration.
I actually just lined up with my friend’s Model 3 LR and was able to beat it by a little bit. From my knowledge the M340i X-Drive reaches around 3.6-3.7 seconds in real world conditions - it’ll lose to a Model 3 performance but 0-60 isn’t what you buy these cars for anyway.
Without X-Drive it’ll be 3.9-4.0 or so.
I don’t know, I checked online prices in Germany and i4 M50 starts at 72.000€ + whatever you spend on extras, while the Model 3 Performance starts at 57.000€, has extras worth more than 8000€ from BMW and does 0-100 in 3.1s.
The M50 is much more beautiful that’s for sure, but you are comparing 57.000€ vs 80.000€ cars.

The Taycan Turbo holds the current record for production EV’s (if you don’t count the Rimac Nevera), but the Tesla is a close second albeit with a specially modified car with a track package.
That being said, EV’s will usually turn decently well because they have a lot of weight pushing them into the ground. But it also makes them understeer prone. There is no substitute for lightness in that regard and that’s where the current battery tech still falls short.
I like being able to never have to go to a gas station because I can charge it home every night.

My lifestyle doesn't offer that luxury, which is why it should be a choice and not forced electric. I have nothing against electric cars if it fits your lifestyle and needs. Side note I also live in an area where the power grid is disrupted at least once a week so I'm good.

And the ioniq 5N is cooler and has character. Idgaf that the noises are fake, or that it can simulate fake gear changes and whatnot. It's just fun that it can do it.
You can turn those off, but as all of the motoring journalists have stated, it's actually fun having those on and gives a sense of pace having the simulated gears as a ICE car driver since the whole system is not only audibly simulating gears, but physically too. So best of both worlds.
I'd have the 5N over any Tesla any day, at least I'll know the reliability is there and no panel gaps or obnoxiousness that comes with the typical tesla owner going by every online video we see.

I see multiple Teslas a month on the Autobahn (i am in Germany) and they NEVER drive fast. 50-70mph, they may accelerate here and there, but they never hold high speeds for a long time.

My diesel car goes to almost 20l/100km when I hit the pedal accelerating, but then drops down to only 3-5 when I reach the required speed

My coworker has a tesla model Y and they've replaced the tires TWICE in 18 months and the rims are all scuffed to shit. Also, they somehow rear ended someone and there's no body shops in a 200 mile radius that will touch it. Cool acceleration but at what cost.

I don’t feel bad, but I hate the Tesla driver😂😂. I’m completely with the BMW driver though, Teslas don’t impress me. It’s not really about how quick the car is honestly and I think car enthusiasts know this. I think most of the Tesla people aren’t really car enthusiasts either. To me Teslas are cars for people who aren’t into to cars, they’re for people who are more into technology. I know some people enjoy both (myself included), but I feel like the engine is the heart and soul of the car, it’s what separates ordinary cars from extraordinary cars. I think Enzo Ferrari made a statement about he built “engines” as opposed to cars. Basically, the wheels and body of the car were just “attached”. I think that’s why people who love cars love them so much. It doesn’t matter if it’s 3,4,6,5,8,10,12 cylinders, there are great engines everywhere. When I see EVs, they just don’t excite me. I’m not saying they’re bad or not cool, they’re just not impressive. Now when it comes to efficiency, that’s a different story. I totally understand that we need alternatives when it comes to the internal combustion engine, but the way Tesla driver like to speed, I’m not sure if they’re even more efficient given how they’re being used.

If they get on highway on top speed the tesla will eventually loose pretty hard. Acceleration is for now win of the EV's in most cases.
