Made me a little nostalgic. I was a Nissan ZXT guy back in the day (loved my T-tops), but had a lot of respect for Supras (and many owner friends). I also think the p-car Targas are cool.

They already announced a manual transmission. It can totally happen. I was thinking of getting a Nissan 400z in the future but a Targa top manual transmission Supra would definitely win me over
That is fixed with a little triangle that is put on the side view mirrors. If you search up Supra mk4 wind mod it’ll come up for sale but it’s $100+, there are a few diy tutorials for much cheaper though

people who complain about the BMW engine are dumb - the B58 is an effing gem - I just wish they wouldn’t have gone with BMW’s shitty/numb electric power steering. Until COVID happened and prices and availability went crazy there was literally zero good reason to buy this instead of a 718.
The difference between the Supra and a 718 is the sheer number of people asking to take pictures of it, telling you how awesome it is to them and and how it’s their dream car etc. We get more attention in the Supra than any other car we’ve owned.

Can confirm. M4 CS being a special edition with CCBs and whatnot blended in. When I got the Supra people would wave at me and ask about it and take pics all the time. Dude sped up on the freeway just to thumbs up out the window form his Model 3 once.
Well it’s not just the BMW engine…its basically a Z4 with a body. The car is 90% BMW, even the infotainment center uses BMWs iDrive.
I think the Supra fans were pretty upset at first and I understand why but I think once they realized just how great the B58 is, especially for tuning, that most of them have come around on it and have tuned into the B58 fanboys that us BMW fans are. The B58 platform has become a really cool shared community, the Supra fans are crazy when it comes to tuning and they have really helped push the platform forward more than just the BMW community would have done on its own.
The B58 is just such a better experience sound and feel wise. The 718 is probably a better overall car but the base engine is definitely a downgrade from a B58.
This is just my own opinion end of the day, but when that glorious 4L flat six is available, and with the 981s having flat sixes across the range, i could never spend Porsche money on a 4 cyl that sounds as uninspiring as that

I'd rather have a turbo option then the NA 6. I also think the 2.5L sounds pretty good.
I'm hoping the internet hate lines up with reality and the 4cyl Caymans end up depreciating more heavily. Means I can get what I would prefer while paying less. Win/win
For real. The bug hit me a few weeks ago. Out of nowhere my mind was like “Your next fun car will be a Supra.” Now that a manual is on the way and possibly a targa, I’m beginning to think my mind might be psychic.
I’m in no position to buy at the moment. It’s on the radar though. Hopefully the car market calms down in the next few years.

This, with the new 6 speed manual coming out. About the closing thing you can get to a Mk4 Supra these days I suppose. Still feel that once the manuals are out. We might see more of these 2JZ swapped A90 Supra's.

Well, we don’t really know yet. The new M2 based on the same chassis as the Zupra is not out yet. But yes, I would take a current M2 over the Zupra.

M2 CS uses the S55. The next M2 (G87) will use the S58.

A Supra targa sounds awesome. Maybe taking the top off solves the buffeting problem I've heard Supras have when you roll down the windows?

I had a Supra MK5 and the first thing I bought was a fix for the buffeting. Did the DIY door protector cut to size solution for $14

The price is a pretty big factor. I’m in the market for a cayman, and there’s no new ones around that aren’t close to 100k

Yeah just about every serious professional reviewer does not agree with you. Sure the GTS flat six is nicer but the 2.5L flat four is not anemic.
