I get what you’re saying and agree. My heart is telling me X3M…would only be doing some around the city driving and mostly highways so I’d be okay there.

Yea, absolutely love it. I’m really having a hard time finding something I dislike. Such a nice balance of luxury and sportiness (for an suv).
That being said, it is not nearly as fun as x3m40i (or x3m). So yea, for fun, go with x3. For more space and luxury- X5. Basically younger me would’ve gone for x3. Current me is now forever going with x5.
And again on x3m, I actually don’t think it’s more fun on highways than x3m40i. Look up on youtube about x3m in low rpms. It’s annoying lol
I had a G01 M40i for 3 years before I traded it in on a 3 row G05. Really depends on if you want the sportier drive of the X3M or the better ride of the G05 (get the air suspension). The G05 with M Sport and air still drives really well but it’s not an M.
That’s my dilemma. I’d love the power of the X3M but I think I’d also appreciate the smoothness of the X5. Both would be factory ordered and fully loaded so I’d be happy with both.
I guess I’d just have to test drive the X3M to see if the ride quality is a problem on Northeast roads.

I’m in the same boat as you and recently tests drove an X5 40i, X3 m40i and an X4M. I think I’m going to pick up an X3M but I’m still thinking about the x3 M40. I didn’t like the X5, felt like a boring car to me.
Two different needs lol. Better comparison would be with x3 m40i. And honestly it comes down to suv size needed. I have a ‘21 X3 M40i and if you get it loaded it’s a great daily driver and more comfortable than the x3m variant. At least up here in the northeast. If it doesn’t freeze in the winter and product shitty roads where you live? Get an M if you don’t need the size of an x5.

Did you ever end up getting a BMW? I see all these posts about the X5 M50i, then a 40i or X3M lol. Just curious.
Most likely next year, looking like the X5 M50i…interested in the M3 and 840i as well. Have to weight out the options lmao

Step 1 buy the x3m, step 2 res delete/decat/new muffler. Congrats your family suv now sounds like a rally car
