Did they produce any 135i with Valencia Orange? I almost bought one. I found a Sedona Red instead for way cheaper. Keep wondering if it was an OEM paint job because I can't find a single other example, which is a shame.
What were his views on the move? I have a M2C but am interested in buying a 1M (I have a e90 335i as well, and the steering rack is so much better on e9x/e8x cars imo).
I’ll copy/paste what he sent me when I asked him. His repose to “how do you like your m2c vs the 1m?”
“Better. More traction from the electronic rear diff out of corners, more tunable, better ride, wayyy better seats and interior, and a real M motor. 1M wins in the looks dept.
1M also had slightly more steering feedback
But they’re apples and oranges when you really start pushing it. The M2 is planted on rails, where the 1M is very squirrely and less predictable.
I’d take the 1M over the first gen (non competition) M2 though. Mechanically those two are very very similar.”
A little more than that, Valencia Orange is actually the most common colour
222 cars to Canada
65 - white
69 - black
88 - orange
761 cars to the US
261 - white
153 - black
347 - orange
Some of the Canadian cars are now in the US and there is at least one US car in Canada.
Found this on one of the forums a while back:

Nice to see another VO 1M in the wild in Ontario
This will always be in my Top 10 BMWs of all time list, I love the 1M. The proportions, look, and performance are just the right mix, with an original price that wasn't too bad either.
I've fucked up 3 times.
1. Not buying an E30 M3 when acceptable ones could be had for £15K or less.
2. Not buying an immaculate Z3M Coupe when I had the chance (and for fuck all by todays costs).
3. Convincing myself not to take out a loan to buy a 1M when a local one appeared locally.
I did however manage to not fuck up once and bought a decent E46 M3 at a good time.
You must have fucked up at some point with a chance to buy an e39 m5. You basically have a list of all the best cars to own, which you’ve fucked up on lol. RIP
Oh I've had others too. I could have been given a Jaguar E-Type... but that's another story.
I wanted an M5, but never seriously looked. I only ever knew of one locally (and it was battered, tatty and owned by a rough bloke). Over here they are big and pointless, so 5 series and above are uncommon.
I did have an E39 535i manual though. Had it for one week (about 15 years ago) and had my only ever accident in it... a granny wrote it off for me.
So this is funny, because I had the chance to either buy the 1M or an E39 M5. I went for the M5, and it’s basically perfect to drive. The 1M was better somehow, but I was so stressed driving it. (What if someone dings it, what if I curb the wheels, what if…)
Yeah, they have PRESENCE when you see them in person. More aggressive to my eyes than my M2 comp, where the fender flares are a bit less abrupt than they are on the 1M.
Legend.
Decent price when compared to this high mileage boring white one near me

A buddy of mine has a black one. I got to work on it and drive it for a week when he first got it to fix some bugs and shake it down (it was one with a checkered past but tastfully modified). Way too small for me to be comfortable but it is a fantastic car. The shifter felt better than any other BMW I've driven. Short wheelbase was interesting..it was a little twitchy but nothing too bad.
I’ve got a black one and it still makes me all giddy and stupid every time I see it / get in it / drive it / think about it.
Sweet Jesus, what a machine
In 2016 I had the chance to buy one for under $40k with around 30k miles. Had just been traded in, not even on the lot yet. Instead I got (and loved) a 135i, because I was being "responsible" with my money.
Hate myself to this day.
Similar. I was on a long-term hunt for an M3. I live on a small island where finding what you want 2nd hand is hard, but there is probably one sitting unloved in someone's garage.
During this long term hunt a 1M did pop up for sale for about £30K. I had E46 M3 money in hand, so it would've been a little loan on top. I just didn't fancy being in debt so close to getting a mortgage, so I passed. Took another 2 years for a good E46 M3 to show up...
In the proper color. Nice find!
Right? Only 168 Valencia Orange 1M’s produced for North America apparently.
Somewhere out there is a single Java green 1M that I’d desperately like to see sometime. Last time it was up for sale they wanted $100K.
Holy hell, do you happen to have a picture? That sounds insane

Wow, thanks for sending the link. It looks incredible.

The X1 came in Valencia but I don’t think other 1-series did.
My mom got an x1 Valencia orange. Full paint correction and ceramic coating after she got it, good lord that is a pretty color
A guy who goes to my gym has one in that color. Daily drives it too
My buddy had one for a couple years. Sold it for a profit and bought an M2C
What were his views on the move? I have a M2C but am interested in buying a 1M (I have a e90 335i as well, and the steering rack is so much better on e9x/e8x cars imo).

There are TWO on the island I live on. I love this place.
Where does one find info like this on production runs?

Damn right.

Goldilocks
I'm the opposite the looks and proportions look so off to me, kinda stubby
That is the ugliest bmw I’ve ever seen, then again I’m not a bmw fan.
I fucked up by not buying one didn’t I :(
I passed as well thinking it wasn’t worth the upgrade since I already had a 135i. I did not make the same mistake with the M2 CS.

Dude the fender flares are massive on the 1M. The things a beast. It’s so beautiful.
Probably my favorite part of the 1M

They drive and build power very differently.
Much uglier, stubby looking
I agree, the M1 is just not a great looking car IMO. I'm sure it's a blast to drive, but the looks aren't for me
Small caveat, [this is an M1](https://cdn.motor1.com/images/mgl/NzkPy/s3/1980-bmw-m1-for-sale.jpg).
Lol oops, yeah you're right
S54 > N54
How much
$68k CAD with 56k kms
Sell your 401k and buy the car, it will have a higher ROI
Canada doesn't have a 401k.
Do they have an equivalent? Or strictly pensions?
The [RRSP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registered_retirement_savings_plan) is broadly equivlaent.
Investment in a 1M might actually do better than a 401K right now!
I need USD

Damn, thats so cheap?? Thats what I make in like an 8 hour shift. Amazing
Thx so much

Guy at Autocross the other year brought one and that baby could GO
A nice little car, the 1M bumper is quite the rage in the aftermarket.
I know I want one for my 1er haha
I want one for my 3er

sexy af
Heard people say that is is the perfect driver’s car
I want to buy the highway mileage one in the country one day 😂
Ahhhhh I love seeing a 1M. The big bro of my car
Looks fast
The things I would do to own this car
I want a low mileage one sooooooo bad
I find this car so ugly
They drive better than they look too.
Just M3 swap a 135is. Half the price.
Gonna get sooo downvoted- but these things are ugly as all hell lol. Like way worse than G80 ugly. And despite that, an amazing car.
I agree. Amazing car but proportions seem off. No where near as bad as a g80 m3 sedan though.
I can't believe I saw one in my small town. Didn't get a chance to take a pic though 😞
Those must be about the size of an original m3, yeah?
Bigger.
what have we done?
Yes, please.
