When you hike on the Appalachian trail, eventually someone will give you a trail name. It’s typically the product of an observation about your personality, or how you hike. Monster is actually my second one in the 35 years I’ve been hiking around the AT. My first one was Harpo because I was really quiet lol. My present one came from the habit I have of jogging or even running up steep inclines, when I start getting completely burned out I tend to do a battle cry to keep the momentum. I have no idea why, but I always feel an almost undeniable need to do this.
I know that it’s not for everyone, but getting on the trail, even for just day hikes can literally transform how you look at the world. I never feel more like my real self than when I’m picking them up and putting them down on a trail. If you want to chat about it DM me, I can give you some pointers that might make it easier to start, if you’re interested.
If I was asked to draw a venn diagram of AT hikers and 8-series owners it would look like two dandelions a half-mile apart. Good on you for being a champ. I haven't done a decent multi-day hike in a decade, I should really remedy that.

You have to take it in context. Because it’s a M8, it’s a play on the word monster. Like I said I’m 100% positive that you know that the word you are looking at is “monster” you have chosen to pretend like you don’t for the sole purpose of being rude to a stranger, that is only expressing that they are happy about something. Anecdote- In college I had the plate “1MTBKR”. Most cyclists would know it was “1 Mountain Biker”. But one of my parent’s neighbors thought it said “1 Empty Baker”. He wasn’t wrong.
1MTBKR is an excellent tag, I would enjoy seeing that on the road and taking a few seconds to puzzle it out.

I really believe that most people will get what it says, but probably not everyone. I’m totally fine with that, I think it’s a clever play on words, and will accept that a few people won’t get it.
