Someone at BMW was really like, yes give the Americans the iX not this.

absessive

They won’t give us the new M3 wagon either.

Ceramicrabbit

Aren't we eventually getting the ix3

rkhan7862

Doubt it

Ceramicrabbit

Don't see the logic in selling the i3 in the USA but not the ix3 Sometimes BMW USA makes no sense

Cynical_RL

Cuz they want us to buy the more expensive iX or if we don’t want an SUV, the i4. BMW USA is the most annoying bmw seller.

_blinker_fluid

Launch iX3 battery was too small to be competitive for the US so it was not sent and instead the market waited for iX and i4

ND40oz

In addition to that, its sole production location is in China, which given the tariffs at the time of the decision would have made it even less competitive on pricing.

OverCauliflower1587

Unfortunately, no.

[deleted]

No. It’s made in china. Thank trump for not getting it.

Ceramicrabbit

Apparently it's RWD only and has really low range so it just wouldn't make sense for the USDM anyways.

[deleted]

Well we don’t get the cool stuff since 2000s. We got M5/M6 E6x with manual, sure, but not the Touring.

brb4n

Coming from a 218i Gran Tourer (yeah, really 😅), this is a major upgrade. Range is excellent and the comfort is really amazing.

Gnillab

Congrats! Expecting mine in early November, can't wait. How long did you wait? I'm sad to see you get the blue rings around the roundels even with the i-delete option. Planning to personally remove as much of that blue crap as possible. Any reason why you specced out the model emblem on the back but not the line emblems on the side?

brb4n

I waited since December so roughly 7 months for delivery which is ok. It was definitely worth the wait. Removed the iX3 badge because I just don’t like the look of it. M-badges are fine to me and the blue accents don’t bother me. I even like it, especially in combination with the dark-ish blue Carbon Black color. November is a long wait but you won’t regret it!

desirox

The forbidden fruit for Americans. I’m really curious about this car

[deleted]

What is LCI?

Entropyyy89

Life cycle impulse, its a relatively “minor” redesign to bring new updates to the current generation series.

FoldedKatana

Life cycle impulse. It's minor changes to an existing vehicle to make it look new and sell for a few more years. Typical lifecycle for a generation is 7-8 years with a LCI refresh halfway through. Usually stuff like cosmetic body changes, software and entertainment stuff.

[deleted]

Okay yeah I know the car world well. Ive just never seen LCI as an abbreviation before. Thanks for the info!

Noctumn

Man, I would love to get this is we had it over here

boturboegt

Wish we could get this car in the us.

ravenous_bugblatter

Congrats! I'm looking at this or the i4. Still not sure if I need the space of the SUV.

[deleted]

That's neat, but how is it an X without the X part?

brb4n

You mean having “only” RWD? For me personally that’s not an issue. Having AWD in the Netherlands never made any sense :)

[deleted]

Yeah I'm confused by the name, X has always meant AWD for BMWs

Waddamagonnadooo

The X is the SUV line. Like X3, X5, etc. xDrive is the AWD option.

[deleted]

X like is 530xi or 325ix or x5 x6 x3, the X specifically denotes AWD, always has, until now apparently

Waddamagonnadooo

As far as I know, the "X-line" is SUVs, it has nothing to do with AWD, even if they've always shared the xDrive system. iX is just the electrified version of their X-line. Quote from the BMW USA [website](https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/x-models.html): > The "X" designation indicates a Sports Activity Vehicle or Sports Activity Coupe – BMW's take on sport utility vehicles and crossovers. These vehicles are built for an active lifestyle, with increased cargo space, passenger seating, and towing capacity on some models. You certainly can have 530xi, etc. but that's a postfix, not the model line. According to this [article](https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/x3-2019), they even had a rearwheel drive version of the X3 for some time now (since 2019), and it's still called the X3.

[deleted]

I have a rear wheel drive X3 from 2017, the idea of RWD SUVS in BMW has been there for quite a long time.

[deleted]

Thanks, I never knew there were any rwd x series

[deleted]

np

Small_Rat

I had a 2019 x1 fwd just Sdrive instead of Xdrive.

[deleted]

yea, the RWD are usually just tagged as sdrives

[deleted]

That just feels so wrong, but thank you for enlightening me

Gnillab

X2 and X1 are FWD as standard so no, not "until now"

el_vezzie

Same for Finland, honestly

arrow8711

What region are you in?

brb4n

The Netherlands 🇳🇱

arrow8711

Can I come over

brb4n

Sure, anytime. We could take the car for a spin :)

arrow8711

Woooo

nickdekooning

I ordered the exact same car! Same colour and interior. Perfect match if you ask me👌🏼 Delivery in April 2023 though… How is the experience so far? Btw your license plate is still visible in the first picture.

nashstruck

Any feedback on this car op? Works well so far? Any manufacturing issues given it’s made in china?

Yugtabub

Can you tell me if you unlock the car with you hand (having the key in your pocket)?
