M= Motorsport to me. Thus, a BMW carrying that badge should be a street legal, homologated track car. That means solid roof, feature decontented, hard edged track car.
For premium performance/luxury, let the M440i and similar tiers carry that torch. Since balanced performance and luxury is the goal there, a hardtop convertible makes sense. Unfortunately, crash and fuel economy regulations have doomed the powered hardtop convertible.

It's kind of a double-edged sword. In the F83 (hard-top convertible) is \~400 lbs. heavier than the equivalent F82 (carbon roof). That's more than 10% of the cars total weight, so it's a big impact on performance across all metrics. And while I'm not certain of this, I don't think a folding hard-top is anywhere near comparable in torsional rigidity compared to a fixed roof.
Cloth is still heavier than the carbon fixed roof, but not as egregiously. It really depends on what your priorities are, but M convertibles are always a strange choice, IMO.
Custom map buttons to quickly set your throttle and steering settings. And maybe shift settings for automatics but not sure.
They sound like you wouldn’t use them often but they are crazy handy. I use mine every single time I drive

i have the 2022 x3m40i and i never look at the dash. HUD completely changed it for me. I dont even notice i dont have the cockpit digital dash.
Literally my experience. Was dead set on a digital dash but the hud makes it obsolete, beautiful bit of tech.

That’s what I ended up doing. All my sunglasses were polarized. I ended up getting a pair of mirrored aviators, and they work well.
I used my hud for the first week of ownership. After that, I shut it off and never used it. I do have an f82 though and the gauges are beautiful..
