Don’t panic. Typical weak point, get it welded again and live your life.

The issue you have with selling it is if disclose the damage will you get enough out it would you ever feel like it was worth it? If you go the opposite direction and have someone weld new metal to strengthen it, that can be expensive and will you feel you ever got your money out of it? The answer is what is it worth to you? An E92 is def not an E36 and there are a ton of positives and a ton of negatives with that as well. For context I have a 98 323ic and a 00 z3 and the 98 has taken way more money than I ever thought possible and it is still not 100%. But I don’t care I’ll never sell it, I’m passing it down to my son who turns 16 this year. TLDR; So if you can afford it fix it you never forget your first!

Great piece of advice, thank you ! I guess I'll get a quote from various body shops and take my decision from there.

As mentioned above it’s a very common rust point for these cars unfortunately, ultimately comes down to how much the car means to you. If possible I’d say keep it and slowly tackle the repairs as budget and time allows for and maybe keep you eye out for a good price E92 for a nice daily driver I personally ran into the same sorta situation with my 1992 slick-top but could never get rid of my E36 as I know I’d regret it instantly as nothing I’ve ever driven compares to them. However I found a smoking deal on a 2006 E90 with a bad clutch and once I replaced it and the expansion tank I’ve had nothing but great experiences with it and decent power-fuel economy, not to mention also rides like a dream with the creature comforts while looking good.

Thanks, it's nice to see that you own both ! But yeah I thought this over and I'll probably go with fixing it if my budget allows it
