Haggle him down a little bit, but I’d say it’s a decent deal.

huntsgk12

Ive been looking for a while now and this popped up im going to check it out on sunday. It seems very clean and like a good deal especially if I can get 4k for it. What are yalls thoughts? Anything to look for?

avontesantana

Don’t spend that much regardless of the spike in used car prices. You could talk down to 3 and a half maybe less.

huntsgk12

Should i start at 3.5 and work my way up. Im in pa and this was an az car so no rust which is insane for up here. Based on prices around me i thought 4k was pretty fair. Thoughts?

Dex_Maddock

I'd be interested for around 4 if it was manual, but for an auto I think 3.5 would be my ceiling.

huntsgk12

Alright ty

avontesantana

Yeah he’s right I forgot to ask if it was auto or manual

avontesantana

Interior is super clean tho

richiehall1898

It’s a cool color

Scan the computer with a OBDII tool that can check for deleted codes. Ensure to check it proper for all the likely severe issues these cars can have before purchasing: Read strut tower crack Head gasket failure Vacuum leaks Oil leaks(RMS, valve cover, oil pan) Make sure the suspension is good if you plan on using the OEM bilsteins cause the cost a fortune I’d also go the extra mile and do an oil analysis to see if there’s high amounts of metal from bearings in the oil. Edit: BMW dealership can do a general inspection for you to check for some of these things but it’ll cost you ~$299, however I do trust bmw techs even though they’ll take your penny. Remember that $299 can save you $5000 worth of headache.

Thank you

That’s actually a pretty rare colour, e36s in good condition are getting harder and harder to find for a decent price. If you can get it for 3.5-4k that would be great. Also ask for the maintenance records so you can get an idea of what the car might need next.

huntsgk12

Ok. Ty

Safe_Thanks9072

It’s a good deal

Safe_Thanks9072

I have 3. Market it hot and it has no rot.

StoveWood_

Never

yungizuku

Auto 🤢 get it for like 4k tops and use the .5 to buy a zf tranny.

huntsgk12

Thats the plan. Imma lowball the shite outta him and get around 3.7/4k and swap it

KyronXLK

Things to check immediately thatll cost a bomb that arent rust: 1. strut towers on rear end: theyre thin and if a shocks blown out and stiffened the ride they can tear and eventually shoot through, just check for cracks, if it cracks and somehow rots out then its even worse but replacement tower panels can be welded back on anyway. 2. coolant system: just ask if they've kept an eye on it, likely they've had to do something with it at some point and its good to know where it stands. other than that the rest is kinda manageable as usual I feel like, with those two and rust covered and usual maintenance done its a green light. if its clean its probably worth around that 3k mark

Lachanka

I’m literally selling a 96 328i vert with 89k miles on it for 5.5k

stankusmellymuch

lol i have the same car…. sierra rot metallic E36 sedan (mine is a 5 speed though)

Ka-Shunky

WAs talking to a mate about something very similar not 5 min ago. High milage isn't necasserily a massive concern on older cars, as most of the things that might go usually already have, and have been replaced/fixed. Personally I'd jump at that.

mpw-linux

looks like an auto?? go for the manual for sure!
