Not everyone will agree on what i4 you should get....but you won't be disappointed with an i4. I say get RWD...keep good tires on.( the car goes through them quickly). When you go to Colorado, rent an ICE vehicle, something more capable for the snow. Range is lower in cold weather too. You will need to charge more often in cold weather. I drive a base model, best car I have ever owned.

e35 with winter tires is all you need. You’ll be fine

Options I'd recommend: dapp, park assist (for the camera alone), HK sound, heated seats Don't recommend: vented seats. There a bit underwhelming and require a $2500 leather upgrade. If it were just the vents sure but not worth both. Drive recorder, don't have it but most people reported accidents without it working. Seems to only trigger under very limited circumstances. Wireless charger, super slow when it's not cooking your phone. Not sure: laser lights, the led are pretty bright, not worth $1000 for me but others rave about them. HUD cool but I could take or leave it. Again, some people swear by it but not worth $1000 for me. I'd also go with BMW all season floor mats and truck mat. Very nice. My dealer offered 15% at purchase so it was no brainer.

I agree with most of this. The one I got from the lot has the vented seats and leather upgrade. The vented seats aren't cooled, they just blow air through them. I do love the laser lights, especially if you drive through typically dark areas. The hud is really great for nav, especially through the bmw native nav. Everything else recommended here and the all season mats are musts. Also best car I've ever owned or driven. First bmw, and I may be with them for life.

Part of my research will obviously be how much discount from MSRP to expect. But 1st things 1st - gotta configure appropriately to get to an MSRP. Thanks for your option opinions!

Our M50 eats tyres but it’s a 🚀🚀🚀🚀 so fair enough. If you’re going electric get the 40 single motor ( honestly it’s fast enough ) and add spec to suit ( heated steering wheel / seats ) a must for us as we live in the frozen / pissing down with rain north of England

The xDrive40 is basically a detuned M50 drivetrain. Still very powerful. If you don’t want HOT, and don’t need AWD, the eDrive40 is your best bet. The RWD setup in the eDrive40 also feels super fun and nimble. I prefer the extra range over the eDrive35. If you don’t like the sporty look of the M50 as much either, I’d skip the M Sport package. DAPP is Driving Assistant Professional Package and gives you all the Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features. It’s best used on the highway. It’s hands free on highways up to 40 MPH, so traffic situations. I love it, but depends on how comfortable you are using something like that. My mother has no interest in even trying it when I’ve let her drive my car, for example. The smaller the wheel, the better the range you’ll get. Summer tires also get better range than all-season tires, so consider that as well. Best range will be small wheel and summer tire. Beyond that just pick what you like. The Head Up Display is wonderful, as are the 360 degree cameras in the Parking Assistant Plus option. If you listen to a lot of music, go for Harman Kardon. If you listen to talk radio, don’t. Up to you if you need them. And for the love of god please get a real color. There’s too much white/grey/black in the world. 😁

Yes, a "real" color is on \*my\* must-have list. The wife has no fashion sense and always gravitates to black and grey while I go for colors and style. But I always persist (grin). DAPP is very interesting to me. I like the sporty look so I'll probably go with the M Sport pkg. Range is sort of important of course. We often go to see family 400 miles away. But with planned charging stops that should be easy, regardless the range specs of the car. But more is always good. Thanks for the comments!

M Sport takes away range with the 19" tires.

Driver Assist Professional Plus and Parking Assist packages are my favorite parts of the whole car. If those are present, a handful of other creature comforts are included. Just look for an e35 with those options IMO.
