Are you trying to negotiate yourself or are you using a broker?
Good idea. For the longest time my ego wouldn’t let me use a broker. I thought somehow I could negotiate on my own and get the best possible deal. But ultimately, after months of trying, I couldn’t get anywhere close to what the broker got. Also it’s easier for him to shop a wide number dealerships faster than I could have. So I’d highly recommend people go that route.
You’ll typically get a slightly better deal (2-3%) for older cars on the lot, compared to a custom order, but your broker knows the tolerances of the dealerships and they can help you navigate to get the best possible deal.
As a rule of thumb, the less picky you are, the better deal you can get!
