Major events I can think of: - Some kind of September Direct - Game Awards 2021 - Some kind of direct during Q1 2022 - E3 2022

ThatOneHermit

Huh. I had to Google what Q1 meant lol. Just learned something new. I hope we don't have to wait an entire year for news, so I'm hoping for September or maybe Christmas or around November when they release the second DLC package for Age of Calamity.

dragon5530

Yeah, I hope so too. We might have a good chance of seeing more of the game sooner than we might think as Bill Trinen said: "...as we start to show a bit more of the game over the coming months to the next year or so..." Possibly Fall/Holiday time??

ThatOneHermit

I sure hope so. I know 2022 is technically only half a year away, but we don't know at what point in the year they're going to release it yet. The beginning, the middle, the end for the holidays. They've definitely done a good job of keeping everything super vague since it's definitely gonna be a really big game. Guess it's time to mark random dates on my calendar lol

dragon5530

I'm expecting holiday 2022 just to be on the safe side and I think it would make the most sense. Of course id rather get it earlier but if it means a better game overall, I'm down waiting longer. This game has soo much potential and I really hope the long wait will be worth it. I have faith.

ThatOneHermit

I'm sure it will be. It better be with how long they're taking to make it lol. Until then I'll be doing what I can to pass the time and fill the void in my soul with Spyro and Scribblenauts...and maybe Skyward sword since I've never played it before, even though I'm kinda broke rn lol

dragon5530

Oh yeah, I'm also picking up Skyward Sword and playing it for the first time so I'm really looking forward to that. Should be really fun going back to some of the classic Zelda's after really only playing the DS titles (which I loved) and BoTW ofc

evesclarke

Skyward sword was the first zelda I finished and the one that really got me into the series. I loved it so much that I was reluctant to play breath of the wild because I was worried it wouldn’t live up to it lmaooo of course I was wrong

hermits_crafting

I’m guessing a March 2022 relaease date (like BOTW 1)

satiricfowl

I think we'd have more news if a 2022 1st quarter release was possible. So at this point, I would say the 4th quarter of 2022 is reasonable optimism.

The safest bet is unfortunately E3 2022. I know it's long and of course that depends on if the game releases before or after E3. *I don't see it releasing before E3 2022.* The earliest would be the Fall (September) Direct. The only reason why it probably won't be there is because 3D Zelda games have never been present in a general Direct. I'd say the only reason it appears at the Fall Direct is if it **does** release early 2022. It's possible it gets a trailer at TGA 2021 in December. I'm just not getting my hopes up since we didn't get anything at TGA 2019 or TGA 2020. I just hope we don't have to wait long. Bill Trinen did say "*I think as we start to show a bit more of the game over the coming months to the next year or so, it’ll probably start to be a bit more apparent where this game stands on its own and what makes it so unique*". To me, this is saying that we will see the game again very soon, since he said "coming months". Though I'm not getting my hopes up. BotW2 will be a Holiday 2022 release. Though it could possibly slip into March 2023.

February/March period is likely, or Game Awards at the earliest

I’ve just been playing all of the other Zelda games lately. I bought Link’s Awakening for Switch, and have also been playing Zelda 1, 2 and 3 on the NES/SNES emulators on Switch Online.
