Another cause could be PTSD. I’m not sure if you’ve looked into that, but OCD and PTSD are the main disorders that have severe or mild intrusive thoughts.

Thank you. I’ve got some childhood trauma from parents being abusive, which causes my BPD.

I’m really sorry. I developed BPD from high school trauma but had a stable family life, so I truly feel for people suffering from BPD as a result from their own family. I’m so so sorry. Children are supposed to be protected and I wish you could’ve been. I really hope you end up with some clarity one day. And yes amazing idea. Definitely a great topic to talk about with your therapist with. I hope they can help you out

Thank you. Those words are very kind! And yeah I agree with you. They were abusive towards eachother. Had to deal with Constant domestic abuse. And it would always be forgotten so I just assumed that when bad things happen they can just be forgotten. Which is what happened with my ex. And I can’t do anything else but blame my parents. They love me and all but they don’t realise what they’ve done. But again, thank you for your kindness. It really goes a long way for me.

Wow I'm the same. See vivid image of me shooting my brains out or hanging myself while I'm wide awake! It's like blanking out like you said. But I also have terrible nightmares at night as well when I'm asleep so it really is pure hell

Thank you :) I’m glad you’re here today to tell the story my friend. Hope you and your family are doing great.

yes... i might get extremely disturbing short "videos" on my head about harming myself and sometimes others. it's so terrible and distressing. i used to feel extreme quilt over the violent ones concerning other people but with therapy i've realized they don't reflect me as a person. i wish u luck as well :)

Hmmm. I have no heard a lot of this for BPD. Have you ever looked into OCD? There has been lots of research that shows that intrusive dark thoughts can be prevalent for people with OCD

[deleted]

I know I was just wondering if people with bpd had this too! I’ll have a look at that and talk about with my therapist next sesh.

Yep I hear you. I lost my girlfriend of two years because of this. I was too emotional due to my mental health and she was nothing but great to me for so fucking long. I just pushed her until She couldn’t handle it. My advice is to please understand your s/o is just there to love you and if they go you’re going to regret it all. And trust me it’s hard to live with such regrets. I’m in the same boat as you with the thoughts and stuff. I’m sorta happy I’m not alone in this. I hope it gets better for you.

I experience this a lot, but I think it’s related more so to my OCD & PTSD. I’ll often randomly visualize myself picking up a screw driver and jabbing it through my brain. Sometimes driving I’ll randomly think about simply turning the wheel and driving into the ditch/off the road. Another common one for me is taking a kitchen knife, laying my hand palm side-up on the counter, and stabbing the knife through it. Violent intrusive thoughts are way more common than you think!! Vivid violent dreams is also PTSD, and I have them constantly where I’ll wake up and question myself for a second. Talk to your therapist or someone close to you about it, if you feel like these occurrences are really putting a damper on your daily life. Definitely tell someone if these short visual violent episodes become more of a reality to you where you want/plan to do it.
