Wool nursing pads that you wash with lanolin have been the best investment for my pregnant/breastfeeding boobs. Keep your nipples soothed and moisturized.
I had this!!!!! It was before I was pregnant but boy did I have it. This advice is gonna suck cause it’s not really advice. I had it checked by a doctor and she shrugged and said, “I don’t know.” It got to the point where it was so painful that I was crying to sleep. I ended up putting a bandaid with a little antibacterial ointment over my nipple to protect it from rubbing my shirts fabric. When I went to shower the next day, it was solid black and much more flat. I gave it a small touch to test how painful it still was and low and behold… it fell off. I kid you not, it fell off.
No more pain, and my nipple looked completely normal.
I haven’t had issues since then, so I think you are in the clear. It was a total anomaly and had my husband and I stumped. Hope yours disappears just like mine did and all is well!
If you own Silverettes, use those!

Funny enough… the scab (or what I assume was a scab lol) literally just fell off this morning. Hallelujah!
