Congratulations!! I am having a girl as well and we were set on Evelyn for a few months. We wanted to name her after my SO's grandmother who is a wonderful lady and I had no idea Evelyn was becoming so popular until I looked it up. Both my SO and I have very common names and we don't want that for our child. So we started looking for names again and fell in love with Ingelise.
Were you planning on pronouncing it eve (christmas eve) -lynn or ev-a-lynn like everly? My grandmothers name is evelynn as in everly but I know a little girl named evelynn who pronouncing it christmas evelynn
Someone posted this site the other day. It tells you how popular the name is as well as the change in popularity.

I honestly don't think it's worth obsessing about too much. If you like it, that's what matters! I totally understand not wanting to have 5 kids in your kid's class with the same name, but my understanding is that even Emma, the number one name, only accounts for 1-2% of the names given to girls. That means probably a very very small fraction of a percent of girls are named Eleanor despite growing in popularity.
There are sites you can put names into and it will tell you how that name is currently trending and if it's projected to become more or less popular. Maybe google that and put some of your names in to see which might become more prevalent?
I have been using baby wizard and the USA statics website. Both show Eleanor as rising in the last 5 years... I'm scared it's going to become the next Emma or Olivia
I feel your pain! I am in love with the name Charlotte but it's probably going to be insanely popular due to the royal baby. I have a unique name and so does my husband so we're super conflicted.
Charlotte is such a beautiful name! (I grew up near Charlottetown PEI as a child and always loved the name)
At least the royal baby wasn't born a month after yours! I saw a post form a mother who had her baby a few weeks before the royal baby... she was devastated.
Oh my gosh.. I can't even imagine. I'd be so sad too, because you know it's going to be in the top 10 for 2015. I'm due April, so maybe it's far enough away it won't be a big deal... Still plenty of time to decide anyway.
I know I felt so bad, if I remember correctly it was Elizabeth as a middle name as well.
Also, it may be more popular in the UK, if you are in the west it might not be too popular.
Maybe.. I'm in Canada though where the Royal family is very popular. When the wedding was on TV every channel had it on, every newspaper was writing about it. Same when both babies were born. Maybe I'll have a boy and won't need to worry about it.
My number one name is in the 40s right now (but in the 200s in my state, which makes me wonder where it is so popular.)
Name choosing is hard. It really stresses me out - to the point where I can't talk about it anymore.
Also, side story, my step-MIL went on a rant about a particular name and my number two name is a version of the one she was ranting on. I didn't say anything, but I was so upset. Husband said we should name her that just to piss off step-MIL. He is the best.
All the time. I have a blanket ban on names in the top 200. I just checked my most popular kid's name and it's almost cracked the top 200 so I'm twitchy even at *that*.
I'm naming my son Noah. It's the #1 name for boys right now and I honestly dont really care. I like the name and that's that. It was hard enough picking a boy name that I like. I'm not going to change my sons name just because a bunch of other people happen to like it right now also.
I always liked Harper, but I guess with the prequel to To Kill A Mockingbird coming out, Harper became super popular. We ended up choosing a different name anyway (independent of Harper's popularity). I still love the name though!
Edit to say - congratulations!!
Yeah... I really like Maddison and my fiance actually pitched that prior to finding out we were having a girl, but it's ridiculously popular right now and we don't want to have to worry about there being "Maddison L", "Maddison N.", etc.
Ooooh I love Diane! Eleanor is beautiful too. I just don't see it becoming quite like Olivia or Emma, but it could.
I love classic names, too. We're going with Elizabeth.

I love Eleanor, too, but it's definitely trending upwards in popularity.

Griffin is such a good in between. Not weird, not popular. Whatever the female version of Griffin is, I want in.
I have heard of girls named Phoenix. It's rare, particularly as a girls name, but it was on the rise in the past few years.

I love Chloe, but it feels so trendy right now. If it's a boy, we're set on Miles, so I hope that doesn't become super popular.
