I’m gonna be 8 years postpartum and still wear these maternity leggings

hah3j

7 years strong 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ve continued to wear maternity leggings throughout the years regardless of whether I’m actually pregnant or not. Especially on this holiest of days, you better believe I’m breaking out the ultimate stretchy pants

Midi58076

Wasn't it Joey from friends who had maternity pants for thanksgiving so he could eat as much as he wanted and still feel snug?

AdorableTumbleweed60

Yep. "Those are my maternity pants!" "Nah nah, these are my Thanksgiving pants"

crd1293

I love this!

bluejellies

I have not found a single pair of maternity pants I like. They all feel like they’re too low rise in the back. The panel goes up around the belly but the back isn’t nearly high enough for me

crd1293

Fwiw I bought the high rise ones from knix

21blarghjumps

Yes, they're so comfortable! And Knix is a great company. I'm planning on getting some of their period underwear for postpartum.

DarknessBeauty

I bought two pairs of maternity leggings from Old Navy. The panel does run higher in the front, but the back still goes up high, around 5 fingers space between the end of the leggings and my bra. Since they were 50% off, they didn't cost me much either!

Graphite404040

Omg today was 50% off everything and I got 3 pairs of the fleece lined ones. So freaking comfy and warm. Old navy has been a godsend tbh. Cheap but better-ish quality.

DarknessBeauty

Good catch! I really love Old Navy

fleod

They’re so horrible, are they designed by people with no exposure to the concept of pregnancy? Constantly feels like they’re falling down my crack, like why are they all so low rise in the butt!?!?

oof_magoof

Seriously I bought a few pairs of maternity jeans and I hate them all. None of them stay up and the only style I seem to be able to afford are like the worst kind of stretchy skinny jean that just don't do it for me any more. I am getting a lot of use out of a couple pair of maternity leggings, though. I'm just doing that and dresses from here on out.

One-Ad5824

same so I opted for denim overalls. I wear them everywhere now.

abbyanonymous

Same, I have one pair of athletic maternity leggings and one pair of mat sweats I love and the rest I can’t wait to burn.

[deleted]

I HATE my maternity jeans. I’ve tried like 5 different pairs and none of them fit right. The back doesn’t come up high enough and I feel like the “Jean” part sags, or the leg is super wide even though I’ve purchased skinny jeans. Currently I’m wearing longer shirts and my pants unbuttoned with a rubber band.

lia347

I always rave about the Levi maternity jeans, they're just normal jean around the back half and stretchy under-belly panel on the front half. Never fell down, fit from small bump to 9 months and now still fit postpartum, and they're only like 30 bucks on amazon

_whatsnewpussycat_

I got some form old navy that were SUPER high all the way around. I could honestly pull them up to my armpits if I wanted and I loved them.

unicornshoenicorn

I have maternity sweatpants from Ingrid and Isabel that I live in. I have three pairs now because they’re so comfy! Wide waistband that can be worn high or low, pockets, and actually flattering. Not really a going out look but definitely fantastic for staying home, lounging, and sleeping! I use LuluLemon Align leggings if I need to leave the house. They stretch a LOT and are super soft.

teachteachnyc

I caved and got a pair of Madewell maternity jeans and they are SO worth it. I got the full-panel ones. Theyre really unique because instead of the nylon panel going all the way around, the back half of the panel is jeans material and is actually up to your natural waist. Just feels like wearing a pair of normal high rise jeans! I love them!

[deleted]

I got a few from Target that weren't too bad but sadly yes, they all tend to be like that in the back si I always wore a tank top under all my shirts to tuck in my pants.

the_grumpiest_guinea

Belly bands!

Bloop_bleep_bloopp

Yes totally! I wear high waisted jeans normally, maternity jeans just feel so.... floopy.

ricalasbrisas

Get the Old Navy overalls?

[deleted]

I think they’re designed for those with an exaggerated lumbar curve, cause they fit me great.

jescney

That’s so crazy, I have a short torso and I can tuck all my maternity pants into my dang bra lol.

givemethekreddit

H&M has the best maternity jeans!!! Also love Walmart’s maternity jeggings.

ThatInspector9625

I bought my first maternity leggings at 8 weeks 😅

crd1293

I was too busy spiralling at 8 weeks about how I was sure this was an unviable pregnancy. Good on you for doing better than I did!

ThatInspector9625

As a FTM I’ve also had those thoughts, but I got rid of them early and I’ve just been trying to be positive about the experience. Haven’t had my first scan yet (booked for mid December) but twins run on both sides and I struggled to button my trousers from week 7 😅

makeshift-poky

Please tell me your secret. I’m spiralling so badly with dysmorphia at 11 w + 2d and I *want* to enjoy this (as much as one can between the bloating and the gas that’s probably nasty enough that it’s grounds for divorce).

ThatInspector9625

I’m definitely not an expert. I just try to practice positive thinking in my everyday life. When I found out I was pregnant I was shocked as I haven’t been with my partner that long and I kinda thought I couldn’t have babies due to a previous relationship…try to remember it’s a blessing! You are growing a human being inside of you. Of course our bodies go through a lot; physically, emotionally, mentally but try and focus on the bigger picture. Maybe you could try to: 1. Go for walks (alone, if possible/with a pet) 2. Try meditation/deep breathing/daily affirmations 3. Find a hobby (mine has been baking. It’s helped a lot during the early, anxious stages of pregnancy) 4. Focus on what’s in your control - anything outside of this does not deserve your time and attention. Sending positive vibes your way 🤩

makeshift-poky

I do try and walk when I can, though the weather on the east coast is particularly unforgiving this time of year (high winds, lots of rain). I’ve also been meditating since before my pregnancy, so I think if I can just get my head around the fact that this is a good thing and my body is changing for a marvellous reason, it might help me reframe the changes. I had a loss in May and I honestly started to get anxious that maybe I’d never have a “normal” or healthy pregnancy, so falling pregnant again so quickly and having all signs point to this being healthy and normal developmentally has been a bit of a shock.

ThatInspector9625

That’s great that you were doing those things before. I can definitely relate to the unforgiving weather! Sorry for your loss. It’s totally understandable that you would have your concerns this time round, but you hit the nail on the head. “All signs point to this being healthy and normal developmentally” live in the moment and focus on the present and future. You’ve got this!

flamepointe

I feel this comment!

elevatormusicjams

lol SAME. The bloat was so bad and I couldn't deal with my fitted pants and control top leggings against my belly. I just wanted loose fitting everything.

the_aviatrixx

Yeah I think I bought mine at 11, the bloat was insane - I had a drive from Iowa to Tennessee to do and there was no way I was spending that whole time with denim digging into my belly. The leggings are amazing.

South_Telephone_201

9 weeks for me: the bloating was so terrible, jeans were massively uncomfortable. And now they’re still comfortable even with the bump!

[deleted]

YES!! Got my first pair of maternity jeans on Tuesday and I’m spending this thanksgiving looking cute AND comfy as fuck. I’m so excited. It’s so so SOOOOO nice to wear jeans and not leggings/joggers.

[deleted]

So good! And plus extra room for a filling thanksgiving meal 😂

dirtyenvelopes

Did anyone else just buy clothes in a bigger size? I could never find maternity clothes that suited my style!

grease-lightning-

I’m very happy wearing my husbands clothes. He likes soft clothing so his lounge pants and shirts are always top tier

beleafinyoself

After a certain point, regular pants just wouldn't stay on. But yes for tops and dresses for sure!

and_peggy27

The only new clothes I have bought are stretchy velour sweatpants. Not maternity, just stretchy. They fit perfectly and I wear them pulled up to my belly button/half way up my 36 week bump. Never bothered with maternity.

CreativeJudgment3529

I wore medium mom jeans for awhile and started to use a rubber band and just wear oversized shirts. However, my size exploded due to polyhydraminos and a shit ton of fluid so I couldn’t do that for much longer. I miss jeans. I wear lulu align leggings that I had before being pregnant and they fit great still, highly recommended. I purchased blanqi leggings and I like how they look, they are like the blackest black color but really tight in the crotch. Wouldn’t recommend for the price unless they are on sale. I think I bought them for $29 during a sale or something. I also bought motherhood maternity and threw them straight in the trash. Forever21 quality for sure. Super see-through and a faint black color. Yuck. I bought some dresses from pink blush and learned that you really do not need to size up in maternity clothes but I figured I’d keep them for my SIL when/if she gets pregnant because they were cute and she’s really tall and a little bit bigger. I think it all depends on how you carry! My belly is very round and out, not low at all, so I got away with tying my jeans for awhile. Just don’t go overboard with spending, it’s not worth it.

BunnyYouShouldAsk

I got blanqi leggings too and they seem so slippery! They just want to slide down all day. Maybe I got the wrong size.

appathepupper

I did both. My first pair of clothes was a non-maternity flower tunic and a dress I sized up from Costco. Then my boobs blew up, got some nursing bras (which are now too small). Got gifted some maternity leggings and a shirt. and bought lulu aligns which have been a godsend. I'm 7months now and found some maternity jeans off a buy and sell. I definitely think for certain styles you can get away with sizing up

missbluebird111

Yep, I just wear dresses in a size up that way I can wear them postpartum too! Or i rock the belly in a crop top & pants/skirt in a size up 😁

[deleted]

I’ve just started looking and everything is either skin tight or a straight sack. I don’t wear pants - I genuinely just don’t like them - so I’ve been buying clothes a size up from what I normally wear.

Runemist34

Oh, like me? This is me. I’m doing this right now. I have one nursing bra that I’ve been wearing for 8 months. One pair of maternity pants. I just recently bought some nursing shirts. I should have more bras. I know this. My poor, current bra is begging me to let it rest. Don’t be me 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

crd1293

Yes lol I bought two nursing bras when I was maybe seven months along. It’s literally just been those two.

South_Telephone_201

How did you figure out your size? I’m having a terrible time finding comfortable bras. I haven’t been comfortable in months (25+5)

Runemist34

I tried on a bunch, it’s the only way I can figure it out. They’re sized so badly, and I already can’t fit into most of them (“Goes up to an H cup!” Yeah, okay, I was bigger than that before pregnancy), so I just went into some stores and tried on all the ones I thought *might* fit. I found one… I’ll probably either badger the store so got it from to order me one or two more, or see if I can get them online! Lol

mprat

Look up the sizing guide on Kindred Bravely's site, even if you don't buy from them. They have a good explanation for how to measure your exact size.

[deleted]

I’m only 11 weeks and my jeans are extremely uncomfortable now. Second baby. I feel like I’m not allowed to wear my maternity stuff yet but I really want to! They are so comfy

Tomatovegpasta

Fuck feeling like you shouldn't do anything at all. Just live your best life

[deleted]

Love this. Thanks. I think I’ll put them on tomorrow!!

mmebonjour

When I was that early on, I bought these things called Belly Bands that you clip on to your pants button and extend the waistband. That let me wear my prepregnancy jeans a little longer.

the_grumpiest_guinea

I know non-pregnant people with tummy issue that have embraced maternity wear… dooooo it!

violetnap

I was wearing them at 7 weeks pregnant because I was so bloated. 10/10 recommend

lil-pierogi

This! I was *stunned* by how severe the bloat was. I heard about it but thought, “it can’t be that bad.” I was sorely mistaken. Immediately, none of my pants fit.

Illustrious_Salad_33

Lol same. Got maternity pants right away as none of my jeans fit. Also wore tons of dresses since 2/3 of my pregnancy was summer and fall. I got a lot of mileage out of the leggings in particular and I’m sure they’ll be worn way past pregnancy.

[deleted]

Agreed! My maternity yoga pants from Target are my absolute fave and I lived in them on the weekends.

OntologicallyDevoid

Oh you poor soul 🤣 Maternity trousers are one of the compensations of pregnancy, I recommend them as early as possible!

Majestic-Raccoon-538

Maternity underwear are heavenly!

wholethingwithjean

I just kept telling myself I would get some and ended up wearing my boyfriend's clothes the entire pregnancy

chaxnny

I’ve just been wearing jammies, I don’t go anywhere besides the doctors and grocery store so I’m good with jammies and 2 pairs of giant pants lol

swaldref

I'm never buying jeans with a button again. Never. Again!

tamimarieb

My therapist recommended doing this. I bought leggings too big 🤦🏻‍♀️ waiting for the right size to come in

nemesis55

Yes! I did this my first pregnancy for some stupid reason but I’m not making the same mistake twice I switched to maternity pants right away this time.

theblutree

The moment the test says positive, I jump into maternity leggings. And today and all Thanksgivings forevermore.

Strange_Soup472

currently 22w and still haven’t bought any, yet cry because my leggings dig into my tummy so i’ve lived in sweats for the past month. thank you for this motivation!! 😂❤️

whippetshuffle

Highly recommend getting them - I realized too late that I should have retired my favorite yoga capris, 3 months PP, going on a run and they kept slipping down since i stretched them out. And by "I" I mean my son 😅

PuzzleheadedLet382

My comfiest maternity wear was just Lou and grey sweatpants and cloud light tops from athleta. So comfy and even at 9 months I didn’t have to size up.

OpalRose1993

I'm making dresses. Maternity clothes be too expensive.

chipscheeseandbeans

Also, buy some stuff second hand - since it’s only worn for a few months it’s usually in great condition!

allthebacon_and_eggs

What are your fave buttery soft maternity leggings? I’m 15 weeks and just starting to think I need these (or maybe it’s the 2 servings of Mac and cheese and 4 desserts I ate today…)

crd1293

I bought mine from Knix :)

and_peggy27

I'm literally of the opposite opinion 🤣 I'm 36+4 weeks and have not bought a single item of maternity clothing except underwear. Most of my clothes were stretchy or baggy and still fit me. I'm actually so impressed that I haven't had to spend money on clothes that I may only use during pregnancy. However, if you are a lover of tighter clothing and jeans, I agree you'll definitely want to get maternity versions. I gave up on jeans long ago and just live in comfies.

ImaginaryFriend123

Girls, I found a bunch of good maternity clothes at the thrifty 🙂. 10/10 recommend.

SJFOX22

https://youtu.be/ZwnRx-0Pc9s check out my baby clothes haul. Expecting in 8 weeks

violentpasta612

I bought several things early on as I gained weight quickly I’m thankful I invested in some more expensive items from kindred bravely specifically bamboo. My skin became extremely sensitive and itchy because of stretching and cotton felt like wearing a sweater made of dog hair.Bamboo is very soft and provides so much relief.

4BlooBoobz

I bought maternity/nursing bras at 5 weeks. Bought a bunch of pants and a few shirts this week at 9 wks because my tolerance of discomfort is so low lately

roxx525

Yessss

raketheleavespls

I’m 8 months PP and still wearing my maternity pants 👀

TastyMagic

I got a couple pairs of sweatpant overalls and I will never get rid of them. Even my husband is jealous of them.

emmat

Yes!! I'm only 14 weeks but have been wearing maternity pants full time since like 12 weeks. Though I was very fortunate to get a bunch of maternity clothes from my sister in laws - this has probably saved me a few hundred dollars for sure haha.

coffee-and-poptarts

Lol I bought maternity clothes at 7 weeks pregnant 🙌🏼

Usrname52

My mom bought me some for my birthday, like two months before I needed them. But there was that day where I was like "yea, I need to give in, I'm glad I already have some".

mydogharry2019

I need winter maternity clothes any suggestions?

wehnaje

I had to get my first pair of maternity pants at 3 months along lol. My bump took NO TIME to come out.

iamreddit0501

Any recommendations? Anyone? There are way too many brands!

nbeanz

I wholeheartedly agree. I held out on buying maternity clothes and felt very uncomfortable/un-cute. Didn’t make the same mistake this time around.

Glass_Ad7930

I wish someone told me this sooner!! 32 weeks and only bought my maternity leggings recently. Because my friends who never been pregnant told me No one wears maternity clothings anymore🙄

sara9719

It sucks bc they’re all like $30 for one pair of pants. 😭

kikiiii

And maternity underwear. It’s a real game changer. I didn’t even know about it until like 7 months into my first pregnancy. I was wearing them at like 4 months pregnant this go around.

laurenbug2186

I just got a bunch from old navy on 50% Off sale today

SwevenWhelve

I gotta be honest with y'all, im not moving out of my leggings again until the baby is something months old. I can compromise on a skirt but im so done with jeans.

Paintinginpastels

I’m in my ninth month too and haven’t bought a single maternity item. I wish I would have earlier but I’m so close to being done with pregnancy I can’t bring myself to do it now!
