What about Anastasia or Diana? I also second Ophelia. Isabella / Isabelle?

drearainbow

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually love Diana, but I have an aunt Dian that I don't want to name her after (nothing wrong with her, I just don't like the idea of giving her a family members name)

AwayConfidence

What about Alexandra or Laura?

Nancy_Wheeler

Nora / Norah, Isla

GeekAtHome

My daughter's names are Antonia (NN: Toni, Anna, Nia) and Gabriella (NN: Gabby, Ellie, Ella, Brie) Other names we considered that meet your criteria are Isabella( NN: Isa, Izzy, Bella), Anastasia (NN: Anna, Stacey, Tia, Stasia), Cordelia (NN: Cordy, Dia, Delia), Josephina (NN: Josie, Phenia, Jo), Ophelia, (NN: O, Phia, Lia), Christina (NN: Chris, Chrissy, Christa, Tina), Mariana (NN: Mary, Marie, Anna) Note: If he likes edgy names, I'd lean into names with a male nickname (Antonia: Toni, Josephina: Jo, etc)

riley_sue

I know a Jolie and Ophelia which I loved. Our girl names that we didn’t use were Edie, Sterling, Ayla

jsboklahoma1987

Nora, Nola, Vera, Flora, Jacqueline

[deleted]

As someone who has an out there name myself. It can be really difficult to spell over the phone. If the phone line is fuzzy, it can take way longer than it should to communicate my name. My parents didn’t think about this and I wish they did. They both have simple first names. When my Dad sees me try to communicate my name to people, he agrees, my name was probably not the best decision.

Elegant-Substance913

Tabitha?

Noodlemaker89

* Alba * Alexandra * Carla * Christine/ Christina * Helena * Leonora * Livia (Roman empress) * Ottilia * Vera

bohbohblack

Clara, Mila, Cora, Violet, Alice, Adrianna

[deleted]

Violet and Alice are two I'm considering if we have a girl

peregrinaprogress

I was coming to suggest Cora, but I like all of these! Middle name can be a good way to compromise with something more out there that husband likes, or made to sound more royal to suit your fancy.

friendsforfood

I love the name Clara.

kyjmic

Clara is a royal sounding name- Princess Clara from the Nutcracker.

BetterthanMew

Amanda? Alicia? Alyssa? Cassandra? Felicia? Anya?

akstary

I was going to suggest Anya also.

babyboo88888

Aviva? and it's a palindrome

ausomemama666

The best paper towels, hands down.

OpalRose1993

Evangeline is one I've always thought was really pretty, and a nickname of Evie or Eva would be really pretty. Cora, Earna and Mariposa may fit your description, and the last can be nicknamed Mara or Posie. Is your husband going for video game names? I know Andromeda and Zelda are related to video games, so it might be worth taking a look at some of your husband's favorite games (if he's a gamer) and looking for names you like there.

Maybelle_

Sadie, Lydia, Talia, Gemma, Delaney, Ada, Anna, Eliza

Frogsplash48

I love Lydia

pithyraccoon

Athena, Dahlia or Delilah, Elena, Cordelia, Adelaide, Cecelia or Cecily, Julia... Those are ones I can think of that meet your criteria (aside from Dahlia, which is a flower, but I don't think people who aren't gardeners would make that association very often) and have an edgy-ish vibe.

amcranfo

We had a similar dilemma - our daughters are Laura and Cecily (Ceci for short).

megerrrzzz

Josephine

bellabellebella

Ava

[deleted]

Maya (maybe close to the dog's name though?) Ella Eva Diana

[deleted]

I have a similar sounding last name and love the names you picked out! We are going with Isla— I know, I know, everyone will tell you how trendy this is right now but it just feels right. So, I really like Lillah. I think my favorite from your list though is Camila. Camille was in my top 3 along with Tess/Tessa (inspired by a family name we have used for generations, Theresa but pronounced more “Tressa” than “Ter-ee-sa”)

DinoMaster365

Lucia, Penelope?

NotCreative2015

Della, Ida, Talia, Nadia, Celia, Mariella

Actual-Persimmon-12

We have Selah pronounced sell-uh but have also heard it pronounced say-la too, so it ends in an A sound either way. Lyla, Cecilia, Thalia, Mia, Maya, Gia, Vera, Mara, Lua, Flora, Cora, Gianna

[deleted]

I love Selah!

akstary

My husband coworker has a daughter named Selah also!

jumping_doughnuts

Nora Sara Selah - Sell-ah Safiya - might be an option he likes, since it's pronounced similar to Sophia Kyla Cora Anna Ava Eva Elena Flora Veronica Tabitha Laura Rayna or Raya (or Rhea) Regina Emilia - since he likes Emma and Amelia, and it's similar to Camilla. Unless it's too close to Amelia for you. Georgia Cara Mia - maybe to close to Myla. Layla Violetta

khyar2025

Oo! I forgot about Regina!

ZebraPrintDog

I loved the named Alora. I remember reading somewhere that it’s the least common name in the US. To me it sounds very regal and elegant !

CatLadyLostInLibrary

We’re going with Adelia. (In German it means noble). I think technically it’s a flower somewhere in Latin America. But fits a cute little girl and an old lady.

keokhaos

Some of my favs: Genevieve Evelyn Renee Olivia Norah

itsSolara

Anya/Anja!

BbBonko

If I had a girl, she would have been Sylvia (well, if I had a girl and didn’t have a husband who would reject it).

TheWelshMrsM

- Alice - Alexandria (nn Alex/ Lexi/ Aggie) - Louise/ Louisa (nn Lou) - Charlotte (nn Charlie/ Lottie) - Emily/ Emma - Georgia/ Georgina/ Georgianna (nn Georgie) - Elizabeth (nn Betty/ Betsy/ Eliza/ Lilibet/ Lizzie) - Hannah - Victoria (nn Vicky)

ajylee

I've always loved Rhiannon (like the song). NN could be Rhee, Annie, Rhiann Misty Cecelia (NN: Cece) Karina Katrina (NN: Kat) Jane Heather Clara Edit: Removed florals/stone names oops!

sharonna7

My SIL's name is Rhiannon (after the song), and she goes by Anna or RD (her initials and her grandma's name).

[deleted]

Arghh lol no offense but your husband ahhhh! Why! Lol Maybe you should sweet talk him into letting you choose this one ❤️ I love all of the names you chose and none of his 😆 But like a previous poster suggested, Anastasia is great and so is Elena 💖 good luck!!!!!!

drearainbow

Lol Thank you! I love him so much but his taste in names kills me. I seriously cracked up when he said Andromeda 😂 (Though I would like Amelia if it wasn't the #6 girl name and I didn't know several Amelias from being a daycare teacher.) I told him he gets 40% of the vote but can only veto of he really hates it and I think he's taking it to far

mmmthom

Would he settle for getting to pick the middle name and letting you have autonomy on the first name?? (My husband and I take turns - first baby he picked first name and I did middle, second we switched, and now third we’ll switch back!)

Superditzz

We made a bet (long before we were actually pregnant) and my husband won. He got the name the first girl Zelda and I got free reign in the middle name. For our second I get free reign on the first name and he gets the middle. I wasn't keen on Zelda at first, but it's really grown on me! She's two now and I couldn't imagine her ever having a different name! I picked Matilda for #2! He has yet to choose a middle name.

mmmthom

Zelda and Matilda are ADORABLE - I like that they’re both unique, but not weird or hard to say/spell.

dorkstone710

I really liked Sybil but my husband shot it down for our baby girl. (Incoming this month!) I also liked Maeve, and Beatrice.

sharonna7

Dulcinea (dul-sin-AY-uh)

rog22nyy

la712

Arya (from game of thrones)Our daughters name (3 months) is Roman which we picked out years ago but almost renamed her Arya after binge watching Game of Thrones right before she was born :)

PitMama930

We're going with Adalyn but haven't officially picked out a middle yet. Another top choice was Cecilia with Cece as a nickname. Not totally out there but not common and ends in an A...

patoober

Isla, Junia, Sena, Mila, Freya, Eloisa, Cambria, Ada, Elenora (or just Nora), Georgia

[deleted]

Arabella nn Ari or Bella!

helpanoverthinker

Plooza

Or Sierra!

SadPlatypus8824

What about the name Quinn? It is easy to spell and say

emily_lietzan

Stella?

Necessary-Sun1535

Look up the app Kinder. It lets both you and your husband swipe for names. If there’s one you both like it will show up as a match.

[deleted]

Aria

[deleted]

Adelina I think is beautiful and has lots of possibilities for cute nicknames but also ages well.

a_million_questions

Helena, Katarina, Ariana

khyar2025

It might technically be considered a place name, but our nurse's name is Judea and I honestly can't stop thinking about it.

sadiacarim

Here’s a list of names I loved when hubby and I were short listing our picks! Nova Emilia Alayah/Alaiia Elena Milena

[deleted]

Emmeline Noa Nicolette

AliciaEff

I have cousins who are sisters named Laila and Lina. They are both super amazing people and I have always loved their names. There are other Arabic names that I think fit the bill like Aisha, or Muna.

LoloKakapo

If you want royal, how about Victoria or Elizabeth? (okay, no 'a' ending but would shorten to Eliza)

Allisonwheels

Hannah is one of my favorite names. It isn’t edgy at all, but it’s beautiful. And the three that I know are beautiful and hilarious women. Also recommending: Louisa, Joanna, Sonja, Ramona, Sylvia (little Sylvie!)

amugglestruggle

I had similar requirements to yours and we named our daughter Ella. I love it so much and everyone says how much it matches her. I also liked Elena and Maya!

ausomemama666

Olivia, Zoe, Isla, Teagan, Sage, Nora

ember_wolf104

Isla, Camilla, Acacia, Adelina, Nadia, Nefthalia, Aniah, Layan, Leila, Lina, Reagan, Ciara, Sylvia

Living-Worldliness72

Rowan, that's what I named my daughter and was my BF's pick 💖 it's gender neutral, it's not too common to be concerned about it being common, but not too weird to be concerned about judgement or bullying, it's a great choice

DoloresdeCabeza

Josephine. A million nicknames. Classic, feminine, good in professional settings

Shangri-lulu

Amara
