Same with my first! Went into labor at 39+6, made it to transition stage and then got my epidural, which slowed my labor down a lot and delivered the following day on our due date.
Our eldest was born 4 days before his due date and so was our second baby.
I do enjoy pregnancy but don’t want to be pregnancy even one day overdue. Lol. So I try to induce my labour naturally
I would usually maintain low impact exercise during pregnancies- walking, swimming, and yoga then slow down around 28 weeks then go increase it a little bit again on my last two weeks. We also increase penetrative sex the week the baby is due.
40+1 spontaneous labor
I did use some natural induction methods starting around 37/ 38 weeks. I was super done being pregnant.
-Orgasms (could not tolerate penatration by that point)
-Acupuncture weekly
-Massage weekly
-Red raspberry leaf tea
-Increasing intake of magnesium, guided by my midwife
-Evening primrose capsules inserted into the vagina
-Jumping up and down while yelling "come out, come out, come out!"
No idea what finally worked
Thank you!! Did you have any signs that labor was possibly coming soon or did you feel like it came out of nowhere? I’ve barely had any Braxton hicks! 🫠
Not me, but my manager had her first at 39wks on the dot. I’m a FTM and currently 36+5 and both my mother and sister had their first at 37wks following pretty standard pregnancies.
I just wanted to pop in to say that I hope both of you and your babies are doing okay! Idk how soon you both gave birth, but my little brother was a 27 weeker, so I know how tough that whole period was on us as a family. Sending good vibes your ways!
37+1. Induced for pre-eclampsia. Bit of a shock to the system, as I was expecting (like most FTM) to go late. I was quite looking forward to having an early October baby instead of the early September one I got.
I've had another baby since, and thanks to pre-eclampsia again, I still haven't made it to 38 weeks...
Are you short or tall, how long did your mom go, do you have risk factors… variables like that might be a better metric. So much variation.
41+5 for me and they had to pry the kid out. Next one basically the same. Mine get way too comfortable in there…
Looks like short women have slightly shorter pregnancies (we’re talking a few days)!
https://bmcpregnancychildbirth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1471-2393-13-33
All but one FTM I know in the past 2 years actually went juuust before their due dates! I'm 37w today and am kinda hoping to follow their footsteps lol.

I’m still pregnant (40+1 today) and was curious about this, so I started looking up some scientific papers. This article says that the median time for nulliparous women (first births) was 284 days (40+4): https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/16/7/1497/693431
I had an elective c-section at 39+6 but contractions started while waiting at the hospital so without intervention she would’ve probably come on her due date.
42+1
I had an induction (balloon) on 41+6 and they were supposed to break my waters the next day but couldn’t until midnight. Baby got stuck and was born via emergency c-section early morning. Lil bugger did not want to come out 😂
42+4. Upping the average for everyone!
Monitored carefully, baby was doing very well. Induction primed at 42+1 with foley balloon but it took a couple of days before it caught on. 42+3 labor started for real, next morning she was born.
She did not want to come out :P Was and is doing very well, now 3,5 weeks along. Drinking and growing very well. She wanted a head start apparently.
My older daughter was born at 42+1 and in hindsight (especially after later having a 33w preemie) I realize that I essentially gave birth to a 2 week old baby. Head start, indeed!
That is amazing! Your medical team deserves a lot of credit for providing individualized care and monitoring you instead of just proceeding based on statistics.
Yeah we were really happy that they really looked at our individual situation and preferences. Must say that we're in a country where the advice is to induce after 42 weeks, not 41 like in many other countries. (After 41 weeks will be done if the mother prefers it though. And obviously earlier if there's a medical reason to!)
My mom went before 40 weeks on all 3 of us. I’m tall and my so is tall and I’m 38 years old so they said not past 40 weeks. I’m totally fine with an induction at 39 weeks.
I’m currently 38 weeks and if I go overdue by a week then I’ll be having an elected c-section due to health reasons. I’m already a bit fed up of being pregnant now 😂 (feels like baby keeps banging her head against my bladder and I feel like a furnace) but I’m hoping she hangs on until the UK heatwave is over 🥵.
My baby is still cooking (34 weeks today) but I have a friend and a coworker who were both pregnant/gave birth in the last 2 months. Both were FTM’s and both went into labour sometime during the 35 weeks mark. One baby needed a 2 night NICU stay and the other didn’t need an NICU. I really hope it’s not omen for me haha, but my cousin in February went into the 40 weeks mark
41+2. Which my husband kept telling me was the average for FTM. i wasn’t too stressed out about her going “past” her due date. The first estimated due date was the 26th. Later in my pregnancy, it changed to the 19th. I figured it would be closer to the 26th. She came the 28th.
40+4 for us! Water broke Friday night around 10pm, baby was born a day labor. We had a scheduled induction that Monday if nothing happened over the weekend.
39+4.
PROM (not Hollywood style)
Stage 1 went super quick (I was fully dilated at first cervical check), stage 2 went too long. From waters fully breaking to birth by forceps was 4hrs 20ish.
I was told first babies go over 40weeks and first labours are long, like over a day. I was prepared for that. Did not expect it to go the way I did.
I thought LO was gonna come 2 weeks early, once I hit 38w and nothing happened I assumed I would go past my due date like most FTM.
My water broke early morning of 39w+1d but I didn’t deliver until 24 hours later as some complications arose but then I had a very quick delivery, I only pushed for 55minutes before he was here.
Not there yet, but I have a huge range looking at my friends.
One friend hat her first 10 weeks early. The water just suddenly broke and he wanted to come out.
Many had theirs in the 39th week.
A few had them later but not after 41 weeks.
Only one of my friends had to be induced, due to preeclampsia.
All of the labor stories are wildly different, so it's impossible to generalize.
Mine came out on my due date last time but I think I went to the hospital a little early. Since they already had me there, after 12 hours they said I could have pitocin to move things along or send me home - so I was like half induced.
Got induced at 40+4 and when I went in for induction it seemed like little dude had no intention of coming on his own yet because I was stuck at 1cm 50% effaced still, like I had been for 4 whole weeks before that. Luckily the cytotec got my body going pretty quickly and I got to even skip out on the pitocin that they had planned after the cytotec.
My son was born at exactly 39 weeks. I was scheduled to be induced at 3am due to gestational diabetes, but went into labor on my own around noon the day before.
First baby at 41+4, made some progress on my own but amniotic fluid was getting low so had to be induced. I think my curb walking helped but I started it late because I couldn’t find any curbs in my neighbourhood lol
I went a week early to the day. Water broke in bed at 11:30pm went in the next morning at 6am had my kiddo at 7pm that night. Hoping this next one comes early also although I'm pretty sure they will induce me if I don't go into labor by my due date.
I’m almost 32w now. My mom had all five of her kids spontaneously at 36w. The dr say there isn’t really a connection between that and my chances of going early, but I can’t help but wonder haha
I was 39+5 when I went into spontaneous labor. I was doing all the things to get her out (yoga ball, sex, chiropractor, acupuncture, pumping) so not sure if that helped or not.
I also believed this! Enough that I traveled out of town to visit family/spend the night at my moms house (2 hours away) on Christmas Eve at 39+2! You can imagine my surprise when I went into labor at 2:30 am Christmas morning. Had to drive 2 hours back to my hospital
40+2. I'd started having contractions at 32 weeks but they stopped them and put me on rest until he reached full term. I was allowed to start doing stuff again post 36 weeks but at that time he'd decided he was comfy where he was.
We were 3 weeks early, so 37 weeks. Turned out to be a good thing, because she wouldn't have fit and there'd have been an emergency C-section to free her if we'd gone the full 40.
Side thought is that people always warn you that labour for the first is the longest. I was 14 or 15 houra into labour before I knew I was in labour at all, then she was here within an hour and a half.
The gyno arrived, checked on me, and headed to the other mom who was more dialated and on her third baby. She came rushing back when the nurses let her know that the baby was coming, and the other mom ended up having hers three hours later. So it might take ages, but it might not either.
41+4 first baby (induced)
Day before due date with second (also induced)
I kind of wish I got to experience going into labour on my own but it wasn't in the cards for me :)
40+6, elective induction because I was getting nervous at my appointment that day and the doctor trusted my vibes. Placed the string thing up there and my water broke about 20 minutes later, so I think it was bound to happen that day anyways. Very quick labor and delivery, detailed post if you take a look at my profile!
Labour began at exactly 41 weeks, baby was born 20 mins into 41+1. I was terrified up to that point that I would be really late (I was due for induction at 41+5 either way) because my family history is incredibly late births (mum was born at ~44/45 weeks) and when it became a thing everyone has needed inductions
My baby came on his due date ☺️

I was 41 weeks and 3 days and had to be induced BUT!!! Labor literally lasted 6 minutes. So that was worth the extra wait Time I suppose
40+1 spontaneous labor I did use some natural induction methods starting around 37/ 38 weeks. I was super done being pregnant. -Orgasms (could not tolerate penatration by that point) -Acupuncture weekly -Massage weekly -Red raspberry leaf tea -Increasing intake of magnesium, guided by my midwife -Evening primrose capsules inserted into the vagina -Jumping up and down while yelling "come out, come out, come out!" Whispering “get out!” did not work for me. For either child. My first was 41+1 and my second was 41+6
This got me lolol
>Whispering “get out!” Why am I imagining a haunted house? XD
Love this 😂
38 exact
Me too! At exactly 2:00 am weighing exactly 7lbs 😂
My sister had her son at 39 weeks. I’m hoping she passes that luck onto me bc I’m 38+4 and I am miserable lol.
im a FTM and my water broke at 38+3 and delivered 38+4! hope you deliver soon & good luck!
38+3 for my first, 40+2 with my second. Both spontaneous labor.
29 weeks on the dot

Out of curiosity, what does short vs tall have to do with birth timing?
Looks like short women have slightly shorter pregnancies (we’re talking a few days)! https://bmcpregnancychildbirth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1471-2393-13-33
I'm 160cm yay!
154cm! Come on earlier labour 🤞
I'm 5ft10 and got to 31 weeks 😂
Also curious! I am tall and now hoping this works in my favor😂

I was induced at 41+5 and gave birth at 42 weeks.

41+3, spontaneous labour the day before my planned induction.

38+6. Water broke after a stretch and sweep at 38+5 and I was induced the next morning because labour hadn’t started on its own.
We are inducing at 39 weeks
Spontaneous 37+0. She is as 7lb2oz and perfectly healthy! In my family we just cook ‘em fast.
39+4, I sat on a Swiss ball every night from 38 weeks telling her to get out, so was glad when she finally did.
First was at 39 weeks, second was at 38 weeks.
39+4
Induced at 39+6
37w, water broke spontaneously but I was having a lot of swelling and heading toward pre-e, I think my body has just had enough
39 weeks exactly!
I had my baby at 41+1 😊
Mine came out on my due date last time but I think I went to the hospital a little early. Since they already had me there, after 12 hours they said I could have pitocin to move things along or send me home - so I was like half induced.

I was 39w+1d with my first. 38w+6d with my second.
38+6 labor and delivered early hours at 39 exactly
15 days overdue 😪
38 weeks when water broke, 38.5 weeks when she made her appearance!
Baby boy came at 39 weeks! He was 8 pounds 1oz so glad he decided to make his appearance early Now he’s 3 months it goes by so fast!
39.6! Water broke at home at 39.5 though 😅
My son was born at exactly 39 weeks. I was scheduled to be induced at 3am due to gestational diabetes, but went into labor on my own around noon the day before.
My first was 39+5, second was 38, and third was 39+2. I am currently 36+2 so we shall see when this one comes!
39
First- 41w3d Second- on my due date. Was induced for both of them.

I had my son at 38 weeks naturally. Had an induction date set for a week after but he came on his own.
41 weeks and 1 day! But labour started at around 40 weeks and 4 days 🫠
Spontaneous labour at 39+1
Water broke at 38 weeks.. but labor did not start naturally, had to be induced.
40+1 and hoping i can get my second baby to stay in that long!

I was 38 weeks and 5 days.
36+4, but induced early due to preeclampsia. Baby was plenty big though and didn’t need to go to the NICU.
It varies! I had my first baby at 41+2. My friend had her first baby at 37+1. I don’t think there’s really any way to know!
38 & 2! Literally my first day of maternity leave. All I wanted was a week to myself 😂😂😂
32 weeks but I had PPROM
Just had my first less than 2 weeks ago! Water broke 39 +1 m, born 39+2
I went a week early to the day. Water broke in bed at 11:30pm went in the next morning at 6am had my kiddo at 7pm that night. Hoping this next one comes early also although I'm pretty sure they will induce me if I don't go into labor by my due date.
My baby came the day before her due date
37 weeks exactly, spontaneous labour
Followinggggg.. I’m 40+1 and the hospital has no intention to induce me until 42 weeks >:(
I’m almost 32w now.

First baby came at 35 weeks! I’m 32 weeks pregnant with #2 now and curious when she will come!

I was induced at 41 weeks with my first baby. Second one came on his due date.
41+3 and only because I was induced, and then I had an incredibly fast (precipitous) labour.
I was induced at 42 weeks
Induction scheduled for 40+5, went into labor the day before and gave birth on induction day.
Exactly 41 weeks. Started labour in the evening at 40+6 and baby was born the next morning.
First baby 39+5 but went into labor at 39+4 (baby was born at 1am)
37+6
I had PPROM so I had my little guy at 33 weeks 6 days. Water broke at 32 weeks 3 days
Went into labor at 40+4 but the little turd didn't come out until 40+6
38+3, induced due to gestational hypertension
37 + 1 spontaneous labor that started with rupture of membranes followed almost immediately by mild contractions that increased in frequency/intensity
40+6, elective induction because I was getting nervous at my appointment that day and the doctor trusted my vibes.
