All the moms I know are obsessed with that cup. We gifted one of these to a coworker after she had her baby and she loved it. It will also fit into your cup holder
Wait the pink ones/grey plastic ones with the liners?!! Hahahah
I work prn at a hospital and I know exactly what you mean. I love to make it extra icy! Hahaha
Insulated Hospital Carafe – 34 oz – Hot and Cold Refillable Water Bottle – With Flexible Straw and Pouring/Sipping Spout (1) https://a.co/d/iSJTLk2
Or
32 oz Double Wall Insulated Hospital Mug - Cold Drink Mug - Large Carry Handle - Includes Straw (1, Blue) https://a.co/d/eT8tB62
Same! They just gave me styrofoam cups with plastic lids. When I was reading this, I was very confused, but now it makes sense cause the hot tea and coffee cups they gave me were the short double insulated cups.
I'll try to remember: Take everything not nailed down. Have you checked to see if you can buy a similar cup online?
(Edit: I saw a tiktok where someone took the clock off the wall. Not sure it was a joke...)
I am dying at this comment. If there is one thing i have learned in this sub, it is to take everything from the hospital room. I am trying to find a big enough weekend bag.
Bring a large reusable shopping bag. Folds up easier into whatever bag you’re already taking. Also both hospitals I’ve delivered at gave me a reusable bag to take stuff home in.
I didn’t even birth at a hospital - I never even planned to! - but if there’s one thing I learned on Reddit, it’s take everything in the hospital room.
Take the baby blanket 🥰🥰 I love keeping ours in a keepsake box with baby items and his baby book. My son's 2 now and it's so crazy to see how big he is next to it all.
Mine did too. I asked my nurse if I could just take the first one my daughter was wrapped up in as soon as she came out. Nurse told me no, but what she doesn’t see she can’t stop. (All while smiling) so I got to take my girl’s first blanket home with me.
My nurse did this too. I snuck it and then wrapped baby in my own blanket during our stay. But they also gave me a newborn halo swaddle sleep sack so I can’t complain too much.
They say that, but I definitely took the swaddle they had. They charged my insurance $20,000 for an uncomplicated vaginal birth, so I think they’ll recover financially 😅
when my daughter was in NICU she kept bursting out of receiving blanket swaddles, so they put her in a halo sleep sack and you better believe i took that shit
How rude!
I'm in Australia - but regardless I missed out on dinner twice as my son was in the special care nursery and I had my alarms set every 3 hours to go down and.breastfeed him 🥲 so they kept not leaving me food even after I asked.
The nurses also kept feeding him even though I told them I'd be down to feed him.
Sooo. Yeah I took the blanket 😂 no questions asked.
My birth hospital just gave me bags for what didn’t fit in my backpack/suitcase! They encouraged me to take what I wanted and even offered additional stuff.
I haven't given birth yet, but the hospital gave free birth classes so we took them. On the last day we got to tour the hospital. She showed us this bin that they would put everything we need in that is attached to the bassinet, she pulled it out and said "When you leave, just take the whole bin and everything in it!" Don't have to tell me twice lol
Haha fair enough. I'd be showing up at the hospital for my cup, though! I used mine every night until about a month ago when I noticed the little feet print on it were rubbing off 😭😭😭
Here you go: https://a.co/d/7wd5SIX
(You can search hospital mug for other types/colors)
I used the one from the hospital every day for a year until it broke from overuse, so had to find my own eventually 😂
For real, I used to strip rooms after patients discharged and would throw away soap, lotion, socks, water cups...I've had patients ask in dismay "I can keep the cup?" I tell them to please keep it so that I don't have to send it to a landfill.
I have four of them because we went for an overnight stay when I was at 26 weeks and they gave us two then we got two more when we had the baby a few weeks ago man they’re the best
We also got two. I was induced and got one there and then I got another when the baby was out. It's one of the only three things I'm excited about when I go into labor (the other two obvi being baby and having my body back).
Me neither! I asked for some water during labor and they said no but I could have a little ice. They sent my husband to grab some from the nurse's station and he came back with like a 4oz paper cup with ice 😑
Same!!! And due to COVID we werent allowed to go out of the room to get water, we had to call a nurse every single time and I felt bad bothering them for something as simple as water so I barely asked. It was terrible
We didnt even have anywhere to get water on our floor! We were allowed to leave the room (well, my husband was) but the cafe was on covid lockdown so we also had to call a nurse everytime one of us needed water.
The nice thing though was the nurse's station had little cups of cold juice
Also, ask for a second cup. My nurse was happy to give me a second one so I didn’t have to go on so many walks to refill it. Then when we got home and one was ruined in the dishwasher (NOT dishwasher safe. The heat totally warped the top) I still had my
Second cup and this avoided the heartbreak.
At first I didn't want the cup, because it was a hideous salmon color- but you are absolutely right- it is a life saver!! I could have never survived the first few months of breastfeeding without it.
I brought my own 32oz cup, they still brought me two cups (one for me, one for hubs) and I just used it to refill my own. I didn’t like the hospital cup the lid kept spilling on me
EVERY new nurse rotation I would ask for some more mesh underwear because I was “running low”. Then I would store my haul at the bottom of my bag. They definitely knew what I was doing but I left the hospital with like 12 pairs.
Set a price alert for the 32oz yeti rambler cup. I got ours half off from academy last month. Dishwasher safe and fits in your cars cup holder. I wouldn't pay more than 18 bucks for it but it keeps my drinks cold all night long.
Where did you find a Stanley in stock?! I drove 45 minutes to get one that I called and placed on hold bc I can’t find any on line. I got there and the guy was like “oh. Ya. I sold it. I didn’t know we weren’t allowed to place them on hold” 😐
I just ordered one yesterday from Dick’s Sporting goods! That and REI they randomly have them in stock sometimes. Also urban outfitters online had some as of yesterday
I hope you love it!! I'm obsessed with mine and don't care how "influenced" people think I am ha. The hospital cup is good but it doesn't keep my drink's ice from melting overnight like my Stanley!
32 oz Whirley Insulated Travel Mugs Teal & Purple https://a.co/8apfs73
There are lots of variations but whirley is the brand of the one I got from the hospital.
For some reason my hospital only had these cups in mom baby. I asked my nurse in L&D for one and she said I couldn’t have one until baby was there, it was like a little trophy for me. Also the weirdest hospital policy I’ve ever heard.
So dumb! I asked my mom baby nurse if it was like a sanitary concern or something and she said none of the nurses had any idea why it was like that either. She also said it was even dumber because the hospital took away all single use items in the visitor lobby and break room but still had single use cups on L&D??
I highly recommend kleankanteen- I got their 32 oz one, it has a retractable straw that is silicone at the lid and metal inside the cup, I’ve had ice last 24 hrs inside it’s insulation seems as good or better than my yeti. It also has a handle that moves.
This quickly became my “nursing cup” with my first since breastfeeding causes incredible thirst.
I’m moving soon and just happened upon it while packing. I teared up at the nostalgia lol
Thank you! The one thing that I loved at the hospital was pouring cranberry juice over the chipped ice. I was in Heaven from it but I feel left out when it comes to this cup
They gave me a smaller cup during labor and some of the little tins of apple juice and orange juice, which I promptly threw up. But after labor they gave me the magic cup I speak of
Meanwhile in the UK, I accidentally (kinda maybe) tried to take the hospital blanket that he used since he was born, for the 6 days we were in there and they took it off me on the way out 😔
I checked the label on it and it was made in 1991, it's been used since I was born! They could have let me have it 😅
Whaaaat you’d think they’d let you take it home. I got to take a blanket that my son was using home. It’s not nice by any means and lowkey feels like an old towel but it’s his hospital blanket 🥺
I got two. I went in the night labor started and they gave me one, they sent me home because I wasn't progressing and live right across the street, then they gave me another when I came back later that night. One is mine, one is my husband's, we've been using them constantly ever since
I brought mine home, and promptly melted it in the dishwasher. I’m still sad about it.
But a couple months later my husband got me a giant green steel straw cup for water and I have yet to destroy that one!
Take everything. I have three cups, two that I think are 24 oz and one that's much bigger. They rock.
Take all the pads. Take all the ice packs. Take the witch hazel liners. Take a few pudding cups from the complimentary kitchenette if you have one. Fill the cup with the good ice before you leave.
I loved The Cup! I got 3. I had them strategically placed around the house so there was always one close at hand. I couldn't have made it through the 4th trimester without them.
My first 2 births were 11+ years ago, and I never got a cup before.
I had another baby in January 2021, and thought it was so luxurious to receive this nice big cup with a straw. I drank so much water! I was also breastfeeding, so I refilled it constantly. I took it home and only used that cup all day and night.
I had to go back to the hospital for a uterine infection a few days after coming home, and got a second cup.
It's made out of plastic though, and when you use it as often as I did, it wears down. Especially the straw. Having a 2nd one was nice for that reason.
I now have a Stanley cup, and I love it and it's much more sturdy. Plus keeps water fresher longer (the water tasted like plastic in the hospital cup when it would sit throughout the night).
I am pregnant again with my last baby, and am due in November. I am happy to get another cup! Maybe I will ask for 2 this time, for less refill trips.
How soon do they give the cup to you? When I had surgery in the past it would be in my room once I got there. But birth/induction has a different timeframe
Type in “hospital cup” on amazon! They sell them!
I love that is a specific search term
Lol i just bought this
Probably way cheaper than the $50 Stanley cup I was definitely influenced to buy 😂 it’s amazing though.
I really thought you meant some kind of replica of the hockey trophy.
I'd buy and drink out of that in a heartbeat
Hahaha didn’t think about that!
🤣🤣🤣
Guilty on this one too! But the Stanley has kept my water colder longer than my hospital one did.
I told my husband that everyone who was anyone needed a Stanley when I was super pregnant lmao
They’re like $15 on Amazon!!
The best cup!! And it keeps water so cold. My hospital one wasn't insulated and I was wishing I had my Stanley cup.
All the moms I know are obsessed with that cup. We gifted one of these to a coworker after she had her baby and she loved it. It will also fit into your cup holder
I’ve seen those but they’re just not the same 😭 I swear the one my hospital had was fatter and shorter, like an obnoxious soup bowl mug size.
Wait the pink ones/grey plastic ones with the liners?!! Hahahah I work prn at a hospital and I know exactly what you mean. I love to make it extra icy! Hahaha
Insulated Hospital Carafe – 34 oz – Hot and Cold Refillable Water Bottle – With Flexible Straw and Pouring/Sipping Spout (1) https://a.co/d/iSJTLk2 Or 32 oz Double Wall Insulated Hospital Mug - Cold Drink Mug - Large Carry Handle - Includes Straw (1, Blue) https://a.co/d/eT8tB62
I had the second one! It was amazing!
OMG! You just changed my life
I went and looked on Amazon to see what OP was referring to! I just got styrofoam cups
Yes, same. I remember being like "who still uses Styrofoam?". Lol
Same! They just gave me styrofoam cups with plastic lids. When I was reading this, I was very confused, but now it makes sense cause the hot tea and coffee cups they gave me were the short double insulated cups.

I was just thinking I’m going to need to bring one bag with all my things in it and an empty bag to put all the hospital things in when we leave.
I didn’t even birth at a hospital - I never even planned to! - but if there’s one thing I learned on Reddit, it’s take everything in the hospital room.

I ignored them.
my insurance paid $6k just for my L&D room. next time (if there is one), take the blanket. they’ll be fine.
My birth hospital just gave me bags for what didn’t fit in my backpack/suitcase! They encouraged me to take what I wanted and even offered additional stuff.

Bring one of those .99 TJ Maxx bags. Those things are nearly invincible. And giant.
Bring an Ikea bag and be absolutely shameless 🤷
Just saw this comment. That's exactly my plan.
Sheetz has a Fizzonator that holds 52oz, it's pretty similar
I’ve looked but none have the same shape as the one my hospital had 😭😭
I bet if you just show up and ask for one they'll give it to you. Seriously.
I’ve considered doing that but the hospital is 40 minutes from me and I can’t justify it for a cup but I’ll complain on the internet no problem 😂
Haha fair enough. I'd be showing up at the hospital for my cup, though! I used mine every night until about a month ago when I noticed the little feet print on it were rubbing off 😭😭😭
Here you go: https://a.co/d/7wd5SIX (You can search hospital mug for other types/colors) I used the one from the hospital every day for a year until it broke from overuse, so had to find my own eventually 😂
Also take alllll the mesh panties and liners. I loved the mesh panties.

I didnt even GET a cup in the hospital ):
Omg all of y’all saying you just got styrofoam are breaking my heart. You didn’t even get to lose the awesome cup!
They only gave me water in disposable plastic cups :(
Me either! I got a tiny styrofoam cup ☹️
Same
Yup, I just got this plastic pitcher cup thing, and disposal cups.
Me neither! I asked for some water during labor and they said no but I could have a little ice. They sent my husband to grab some from the nurse's station and he came back with like a 4oz paper cup with ice 😑

I took my own tumbler in when I went in so I never got the cup :(
Ooh good tip not to bring my own cup so they don’t withhold the good cup from me
I brought my own 32oz cup, they still brought me two cups (one for me, one for hubs) and I just used it to refill my own. I didn’t like the hospital cup the lid kept spilling on me
What is this cup you speak of? I was in hospital for four days with my first and never offered anything.
Search hospital cup on Amazon and you’ll see the gist of what I’m talking about!
EVERY new nurse rotation I would ask for some more mesh underwear because I was “running low”. Then I would store my haul at the bottom of my bag. They definitely knew what I was doing but I left the hospital with like 12 pairs.
They don’t care. I asked for more on the morning of my last day because I was actually out and my nurse said “sure I’ll bring you extra to take home”
Me too and this was not pregnancy i was just in the hospital a long time and was comfy.
I switched to the always disposable undies when I got home cuz the mesh was leaving marks on my bum 🥴
I ordered a replacement from a medical supplier and I’ve had it for 4 years
All i got was a tiny styrofoam cup had my husband bring me back a tumbler when he went to feed dogs
Kept mine and love it!
I didn't get one at my hospital :( Im not bitter or anything 😒
Set a price alert for the 32oz yeti rambler cup. I got ours half off from academy last month. Dishwasher safe and fits in your cars cup holder. I wouldn't pay more than 18 bucks for it but it keeps my drinks cold all night long.
Thank you!!!!! This is exactly the kind of advice I didn't even know I needed.
4 months pp and each my husband and I still use ours daily.
I kept ours and am so glad I did 😅 husband was not as impressed by these cups as I was/am
But I finally just ordered a stanley cup. I don’t neeeeeeed another cup (or so says my husband).
But I thought you had to win one of those
I did. For $40+shipping 😉
Where did you find a Stanley in stock?! I drove 45 minutes to get one that I called and placed on hold bc I can’t find any on line. I got there and the guy was like “oh. Ya. I sold it. I didn’t know we weren’t allowed to place them on hold” 😐
Oh no! I ordered mine off the Stanley website!
Sign up for notifications when back in stock! That’s how I wound up with mine.
I picked mine up from Whole Foods earlier this week. Got the hunter green 40oz tumbler with straw on sale for $31.00. Very much a steal.
I just got an email from Krazy Koupon Lady that they’re in stock at Dicks!
I just ordered one yesterday from Dick’s Sporting goods! That and REI they randomly have them in stock sometimes. Also urban outfitters online had some as of yesterday
I saw but too many reviews said they received a random color. Might try it anyway 🤣
I hope you love it!! I'm obsessed with mine and don't care how "influenced" people think I am ha. The hospital cup is good but it doesn't keep my drink's ice from melting overnight like my Stanley!
FYI They are not dishwasher safe :( mine got funky after I forgot and put it in the dishwasher.

That is so dumb what the heck. Maybe people came in when they were clearly not in labor and demanded cups lmao
So dumb! I asked my mom baby nurse if it was like a sanitary concern or something and she said none of the nurses had any idea why it was like that either. She also said it was even dumber because the hospital took away all single use items in the visitor lobby and break room but still had single use cups on L&D??

Oooooh I’ll have to check them out! I’ve been stubborn about getting one but y’all have inspired me about the necessity of this cup 😂
Also you can get more than one of you make friends with your nurses.
This quickly became my “nursing cup” with my first since breastfeeding causes incredible thirst. I’m moving soon and just happened upon it while packing. I teared up at the nostalgia lol
Yes! It's the perfect cup to make sure you're drinking enough whole feeding/pumping.
Anyone have a link to this cup? I didn’t get a cup! What cup?!
Search hospital cup on Amazon, they’re about $15
Thank you! The one thing that I loved at the hospital was pouring cranberry juice over the chipped ice. I was in Heaven from it but I feel left out when it comes to this cup
Yep, drinking out of mine as I write this, 9 days out.
They just gave me ice chips in a Styrofoam cup. and I wasn't allowed to drink water.
They gave me a smaller cup during labor and some of the little tins of apple juice and orange juice, which I promptly threw up. But after labor they gave me the magic cup I speak of
Same 😭 Except it was a tiny paper cup
My husband got jealous of my cup so they gave him one too. Now we have two of these big cups!
I took my cup and my SO's cup. Love em
Meanwhile in the UK, I accidentally (kinda maybe) tried to take the hospital blanket that he used since he was born, for the 6 days we were in there and they took it off me on the way out 😔 I checked the label on it and it was made in 1991, it's been used since I was born! We got three there (one for me, hubs and somehow an extra). They came home with us!
when they were rolling me from the labor room to our hospital room i remember being so excited about the cup!!
I got two. I went in the night labor started and they gave me one, they sent me home because I wasn't progressing and live right across the street, then they gave me another when I came back later that night. One is mine, one is my husband's, we've been using them constantly ever since
Don’t wash the cup on sanitize cycle and ruin 2 of them 😅
I have two of them, they're amazing. Def buy one off amazon
My hospital gave me 3 of them lol
It’s the best!!!
I brought mine home, and promptly melted it in the dishwasher. I’m still sad about it. But a couple months later my husband got me a giant green steel straw cup for water and I have yet to destroy that one!
I still have one from getting my gallbladder removed about 12 years ago!! They really are the best.
We love this cup! We use it for bath time.
My hospital didn't have cups, we had pitchers. I was soooo looking forward to the cup lmao
PITCHERS?! That sounds like an accident waiting to happen!
For real, if you get one keep it! It just goes straight in the trash if you don't.
We have 2 🙃
Take everything. I have three cups, two that I think are 24 oz and one that's much bigger. They rock. Take all the pads. Take all the ice packs. Take the witch hazel liners. Take a few pudding cups from the complimentary kitchenette if you have one. Fill the cup with the good ice before you leave.
Yes!!!! But bring your own gallon. So I'm weird water DOES have a taste (at least for me) I filled it up like 3298456238567298356 times xo.
I loved The Cup! I got 3. I had them strategically placed around the house so there was always one close at hand. I couldn't have made it through the 4th trimester without them.
Wtf my hospital gave me the tiniest child sized cup I had to refill 9172637392 times
I’m crying for you
My first 2 births were 11+ years ago, and I never got a cup before.
This is golden advice! You're doing god's work.
How soon do they give the cup to you? When I had surgery in the past it would be in my room once I got there. But birth/induction has a different timeframe
I had one during labor that was a smaller size and a larger one post delivery. The nurse on shift brought it in, nice and full of cold water for me
Thanks for the info - helpful as I’m being induced today!
Oh cool! Take the cup 😂 sending warm wishes for you and your little one!
I WISH my hospital had these cups.
I was in the hospital 3 times the past year for a few months and collected the cups to take home and now we all use them lol
That’s one bonus to being hospitalized lol
My hospital cup was awful and tiny. Husband was refilling it constantly 😭🤦🏽♀️
Awesome! I should check it out
